Oh my , I love you. I had a tumor grow in my spine 10 years ago. I had to quit hairdressing overnight. I had a 8 year old, 10 year old, and a 12 year old. I too am a Christian!!! I’m married to a wonderful husband and he is now helping me start a sewing business. I was blessed by a wonderful mother in law who was a very very talented seamstress and taught me everything she knew. Just love her! Thanks sooo much for the video!

Thank you for sharing your experience with starting a “work from home business!”
You were very clear and I think you covered everything we need to know. I’m glad I ran across your channel, I think it was a God thing! I’m not even sure that starting a sewing business is what I want to do. I’m just looking for something to do that will give me “purpose” in my life.
I know they say God has a purpose for everyone but I’ve never been able to find mine.
You said you are a Christian and so am I, I also don’t believe in coincidence, so I found you for a reason 😁

I've watched so many videos about how to start and grow my business, but you are the only one who addressed my concerns. I've been trying to recruit a grandchild to set up a web site for me while another one said use Etsy. However, I need to not spend money until I can sell items. I've made lots of things and given or donated items, and I never thought of your ideas of getting recommendations or photos (everything that you mentioned). You are the angel on earth for all of us who need real life suggestions. THANK YOU!

This is an excellent and helpful video packed with spot-on advice. It is sad that we don't hear much about mothers who want to stay home with their children, but are forced to work outside the home. I am grateful you have had the courage to be honest about this. I am a bit of a geek, but will spare you a 1,000 word comment about women prior to the industrial revolution who worked from home 🧐I am so impressed with the ingenuity and hard work you applied to your situation. May God continue to bless and keep you 🙏

I wish moms could stay home or weren't made to feel like less if they want to stay home with their children. They grow up sooooo fast and I missed a lot with my first 2 kids and made up my mind that it was NOT happening again. I do feel like there's pressure though from the new women's movement that if your not "working" that your lazy but we need to change that perception because we are doing the most important thing in the world, raising the next generation!

I found your video really interesting. I am a seamstress and I have had my own sewing business since 2011 but I have been sewing for over 50 years. I have a website and sell on etsy as well. I also teach sewing classes. I started on etsy in 2011 there are no up front expenses until you make a sale and then everything comes out of the sale so I don't even get a monthly bill. Shipping is so easy too, I print labels and ship from my home. I don't have to go to the post office to ship anything. I started my sewing business with all the sewing supplies I already had, just like you. When I started out I was making baby boutique clothes. Now I have two shops on etsy. I make and sell handmade bags and accessories in one shop and the other shop I sell appliques and other sewing supplies. I like how you have made all your connections just through your sales and word of mouth. I don't do any advertising either. I am also a Christian and God has blessed me beyond measure in my sewing business. I know this is what I am suppose to be doing.

I found this video because I am in a similar position that you were in when you got started! I’m not pregnant though! Lol! But, I have younger children and older children and I want/need to stay home to raise them. We are in debt and things are super tight. My husband is doing a great job, but I feel like I need to help bring in income. I recently got a part-time job doing some gardening work. But, it takes me away from my duties in the house and I know there’s something better for me.
I started sewing when I was 15 and used to have my own business selling handbags and accessories. But now I pretty much only sew when I need to fix something or here and there just tinkering around. But, I know how to sew and I do enjoy it. I’ve watched a handful of videos today getting inspiration for turning sewing into a business, and your story has been the most inspiring to me. Thank you so much for sharing! I’m praying that the Lord will help me do it!

Best wishes in your new adventure! Look for craft fairs over the summer and built up inventory for that. I think everyone is having a hard time right now and small business is no exception. I don't want to be a downer but don't invest a lot. This economy is awful and I'm working harder than I've ever worked before and making less money. Look into making things people "need" not necessarily things people want and you might be ok. Sorry, it's been a rough 3 years lol

I do agree, Pirate ship is something I've looked into so that I can ship my items without standing in line and I believe it to be cheaper. You can purchase a laser printer things on Amazon and a scale and do everything yourself. I'll be doing this soon as I may be moving and I won't have my amazing post office anymore.

Thank you so much faith!! I just found you today and I believe the Lord directed me to your vlog. I am an empty nester and moved to a totally new city from South Florida to Central Florida two years ago. I am a cosmetologist and it has been very difficult with what's going on in the world today to start a new clientele here in Central Florida. So I'm wanting to have time flexibility and work from home so I've decided as you did to use the talents that I have with sewing to start a sewing business. So I so appreciate all the encouragement and words of wisdom that you included in your blog that I watch today. I hope I can keep in touch with you in case I have questions I'm going to definitely be watching your future vlogs I subscribed to your channel and I'm very excited to hear and even go back to your prior vlogs and listen to them as well. If I sew for someone else, I give a price first, I want half up front and then I will begin thinking about making it. As you say, I’ve been burned and my sewing it my love. I do it because it’s my hobby, I don’t want it as a business and I’ve proven that.

Hello, I absolutely love that you got down to being realistic. Realistic as it relates to not going out and spending a ton of money buying new items, websites etc. This is something I did initially and spent tons of money. Many of the you tube videos don't speak to this.
You talk about no cost avenues of getting exposure for your items. Social media is alive and thriving. Knowing how to navigate it is very important. Thank you for outlining that.
The tax information was great. I am sure you know about " home based business" write offs".

I used a similar method. I didn’t have any materials for what I wanted to make so I went on my local moms group and I found some moms that wanted my product (a very specific upcycled baby mittens) the first 15 pairs I made got me my material stash ! So one more sweater made two pairs of my mittens! So I put it out there that if they gave me the sweater, I would give them the mittens! I got 15 people sharing in a second set a 15 pairs of mittens to sell. It worked out awesome

I'm so glad that UA-cam recommended this video! I'm super broke right now and I'm full-time caregiver to my dad. These past few days, I've been thinking of how to start my own sewing business so I could add income to our home. Thank you soooooo so much for making this video!

Hi, I just came across your channel! Glory to God! You’re an answer prayer 💕
How did you do it with small babies. I feel like it’s challenging for me right now. I know God has this for me. I have small children all ages under 7.

I made a video on how I sew with littles because so many people asked lol It may not be the popular way to do things but it allowed me to get stuff done lol

I find fabric at thrift stores also, at times for 50 cents a yard!!! Also doll making supplies, and more. I once found boxes of brand new baby doll shoes and porcelain doll parts. It's a great place to go for yarn and embroidery thread and can be washed before using.

Thank you for such candid advice! I love sewing and want to make a side hustle of it but I don’t want to take something I enjoy and turn it into a stressful burden. What do you recommend to keep loving it?

    • @faithwerksdesigns6197
      @faithwerksdesigns6197  2 роки тому +4

Sorry, somehow I missed this. It can get that way from time to time but I find that when I take the time to do/make things I like it tends to keep me going. I try really hard to take time for creativity or I noticed that that's when it happens. I get so busy with orders that I feel run down and just saying, today is MY day to do something fun and it really does help.
