Hi Ms. Mei Pak, I’m a 22 year old woman living in the Philippines. I’m currently opening my first ever mini clothing line online. I’ve been into selling thrifted clothes and decided to move forward. As I was looking for advices here in youtube, I find your channel and find myself binge watching everything. Thank you so much. Please make more videos because you inspire and help many people. I hope you notice this and give me advice when starting. Tysm. Much love, camille
Thank you so much for your kind words, Camille! I'm so so happy that these videos have helped you, and I wish you the best of luck with your clothing line launch! 💖
Great video!! Over the past 2 years, while setting up my handmade clothing business, I've combed the internet for content like this, and honestly there is very little about handmade clothing, which I think is different from other handmade products in many ways. So thanks for this, Mei!!! It gave me some good ideas. :)
Thanks so much. This really helps. You have touch on a few points I had really been trying to figure out. Now I feel more confident in starting my side business.
I am opening up a huge, funky hair salon in a warehouse sort of space. I would love to have some young designers featured. My goal is someone comes with a friend and sells their jewelry, art, clothes etc in my salon keeping all of their profit while being promoted on social media for say the week, weekend or month. In return they would help with folding towels, sweeping, getting coffee for clients.

Mei, thank you for another great video. I'm actually retired, but need to earn extra money. I was teaching art part time and my job was eliminated due to covid and lower enrollment in a private school. I already had tons of fabrics in my stash and just before losing my perfect job, I was gifted about 20 boxes of mostly high quality cotton fabrics. Nothing like God telling me I have no excuses.I gave about half away to a woman who makes quilts for homeless and children's homes. With the rest, I plan to start a children's clothing business. I will have to put $0 out for any supplies for quite some time, other than business cards. My only expenses will be for setting up the business legally, the website and marketing channels and labels and compliance for children's clothing. I know much about creating the business and a lot about marketing, but your advice is very useful, especially the media outreach. I do have a question: How do I find the micro influencers? Thanks much.
Hi Donna! It sounds a business has found YOU! 😊 Here are some blog posts I have on working with influencers: www.creativehiveco.com/blog/?s=influencers

Wow!!! I’ve been searching for maybe 2 month’s for ideas on how to start my small fashion business on Instagram; you have been so helpful! Straight to the point and better yet with more great ideas. Thank you very much, hope to see more awesome videos of yours 🤗❤️.

What is your take on sustainability and ethics and starting up a small clothing business? I can’t stand the thought of consuming and selling things I don’t agree with. I haven’t the slightest idea about how to source actually eco, ethic & sus-type materials 😭😭i wanted to get all of my things from France honestly lol but how would I find the most eco-friendly materials is what I’m asking I guess? 😅😅
Do a lot of research, ask and call around! It's okay to have a conversation/ask suppliers about the sustainability in their products. It all starts with your supplier. 🙂
Do a search for wholesale to the trade, eco friendly materials. You will typically need to be an established business to get in the loop. The very best way to find those supplies is to attend trade shows where you will find what is referred to as jobbers and manufacturer's reps. You can also try researching manufacturers reps for fabric companies online. If you just research wholesale, the only thing that ususally comes up is wholesale for fabric stores. Also, seach for eco fabrics and see if a website contains any contact info and inquire directely with them. Consider buying made in USA, you will have better luck. Here is one I found for you. www.apexmills.com/media_post/sustainable-fabrics/ Hope you don't mind Mei!
Hi! I highly suggest you do a search on Google. To save, you can also look into buying a second hand one from eBay, Amazon, etc. that have good positive feedback/reviews. Also, I think my blog post here about how to start a handmade embroidery system will be helpful for you too: www.creativehiveco.com/how-to-start-a-handmade-embroidery-business/ I also mentioned about embroidery machines there. Good luck! Hope you find an embroidery machine that works for you soon!! ❤️
This video has been so helpful to me. I hoping to start a clothing line this year. I still have some questions about the legal part of it . Do websites like Etsy , Squarespace , Shopify require a licence or anything of that sort ?
You can also go the the Small Business Administration website SBA.gov and there is a lot of information there on setting up the legal stuff. You can alos check with your county and state for any type licensing or permits needed for offline selling. Also check US Compliance for lableing and such. Especially if you plan to make any children's clothing.

Congratulations on your success. I came across a clothing niche that's needed and. rare, I've only sewn blankets & crochet, but pretty good, do you think it's possible to start without a large upfront investment? I'm asking because I only have some savings and can't afford a risky large sum. Im almost certain people would buy if they could find them, I hope this makes sence
That's great that you have found a niche that needs to be filled! Yes, I believe you can do it but it will take a lot of work and setting up some marketing systems to help bring in traffic.
Determination and perserverence is the key. If you have a niche, you are ahead of the game in my opinion. Make your samples first. There are ways to raise funds, but it takes work. Consider an SBA loan or asking friends to invest or do crowdfunding, like Kickstarter or even gofundme. Start small and make it work. Good luck.
You don't need to have a license to set up a website to sell, but you really should have all the formal stuff done before you do just to make sure your business is legal. ua-cam.com/video/DmyTnvth2ps/v-deo.html
