I can actually still hearing the autofocus noise on the STM lens in the video. It's not as loud as the non-stm lense, but it's still there.
So the solution is to get rid of the noisy lens ? 😅
Exactly 😂😂😂😂
Lapel mic was the best solution. I have the Røde VM Pro, and it is fantastic! Also fantastic to enjoy every little nuance of the focus motor sound 🤣
Thank you for the video! 😊
hello ! very well done video ! do you think that stm lens are silent like USM lens?
So you never showed if the lav mic worked ? I could still hear noise on the stm lens though
So the real answer is, we can’t solve it if we don’t or can’t purchase a Rode mic or a new lens or new other external items to solve it, right?!
What about the USM motors? Is that the same or more silent?
Exactly what I needed!!! Thanks!
Awesome, glad it helped!
uhh STM lenses aren't necessarily silent.. I have a few STM lenses that are completely audible and some that are mostly silent. notably, the 40 and 50mm primes are pretty loud, but the 24mm prime is rather quiet while the 18-55 kit lens seems completely silent
best to just use manual focus , practice makes perfect but if your just sat there filming yourself try not to move forward and backwards to much while using auto focus
Good advice👊
You can also use a higher aperture to give you some more focus depth to help
I had this problem too. Then I shut the auto focus off, it wasn't a problem after that. But I like the auto focus. Thanks for the tip about the STM lens. Is there a camera out there that it's not problem?
The Rode shotgun mic pretty much got rid of the noise. I have read that the Z lenses on Nikon are also completely silent.
What is your experience with noise from the Canon USM and Nano USM lenses?
The USMs click like the first lens in this video. The Canon USMs are fast to focus but are noisy.
pushing the mic forward if its small shotgun mic can help reduce the sound
I can easily hear the "solution" still making the noise.
Crazy story on my Canon 90d. I use the rode Wireless go to system and even though the microphone is on me 15 ft in a way that noise still picks up in my audio
Long story short. I called Cannon and found out that my particular unit had a flaw in it. I purchased it from Amazon 7 months ago so I was already passed my return window and Amazon also has sold me the international version during our transaction. After speaking to Cannon and doing lots of troubleshooting I found out that the 3.5 mm Jack when a microphone was inserted would not cut off the cameras microphone. That's making my videos about useless because all you heard was the Lens.. in the end I sold it yesterday
I have a Nikon D3200 and the autofocus is so LOUD!! I prefer Nikon over Canon. Any suggestions under $300?
Honestly I’ve never shot Nikon but I’m sure they have something similar. If I find that out, I’ll share a link here.
Hey so I have a lot of noisy lenses and I found that attaching a shotgun mic to a cold shoe extension bar, so that your mic is in front of your lens, works really well if I need to have the mic on the camera. And lav mics work pretty well too if you're just sitting in front of the camera. They're like under $30, I pick one up for $15 on Amazon. Not bad at all.
Damn I should of watched this before I purchased the external mic which did nothing to suppress the noise. Do Nikon make a STM lens?
Yes, AF-P lenses
*Should have
😢 a lot better but the noise is still there ! 🤔 maybe using a different mic will do the trick + the STM lens.
Simply say use external mic 🎙️
I watched this video a couple times and still don't understand how he got rid of the autofocus noise. Can someone explain this to me real slow like?
He simply switched lenses on the camera. The lens he used that got raid of the “auto focus” noise was the “STM lens.” And to make it even better, he connected RODE mice on the camera as well. Long story short, get STM lens and RODE mic when shooting videos. You will get a better sound instead of the annoying “auto focus” noise. Hope this help 🤷🏿♂️🤷🏿♂️
Another solution is set your focus and then turning off the autofocus and keep the same distance
It's making that noise even in manual..
Solution in this video: Buy the STM lens! You're welcome.
Haha yeah
Or wireless mic
how to get rid of autofocus noise? Using another lens? Seriously?
This is UA-cam now 🥴 ‘bUt PlEaSe SuBsCrIbE’
@@emartin8907 yep, bollocks.
turn off auto focus, do it manually
