  • The Cort Artisan Space 5 bass guitar may look like something from the future but it is actually from the past... a time traveler if you will. I am referring to the Space line that rocked the Bass World with its unique and revolutionary headless design partnered with Steinberger licensed tuners from the 80's. While the times of yesterday were fun, we must make way for the future and Cort is leading the way with the Artisan Space 5.
If you are holding the bass in a playing position, the controls are as follows from L to R: Volume, Blend, Treble, Mid and Bass.
The Artisan Space 5 is no slouch in the bells and whistles department. Coming in two finishes (Star Dust Green and Star Dust Black), this bass proudly offers many unique approaches to design and ergonomics. With a bolt on 7 piece roasted maple, walnut, Purple Heart and hard maple neck, mahogany body, 24 frets, 34" scale total this bass is easy on the eyes and the hands!
Fretboard radius is 15.75" and the nut width is 47mm at the 0 fret. Comes standard with Bartolini MK1 pickups, an active 3 band EQ, abalone inlays, and black hardware and it is equipped with D'Addario EXL 170-5 SL strings.
A lot of attention was placed into modernizing and specially designing the hardware for the headless system this bass offers. Much like its predecessor, this bass goes the distance with respect to innovation. With its contoured body and sculpted edges, this bass embraces its roots but with a sleek modern look and feel. Coming standard with 0-fret technology, this bass offers options for players. So, Since the nut is still used as a guide to set the string spacing before going to the tuners with the 0 fret in place the nut is not responsible for the open notes which gives players the ability to change to any string gauge without worrying about resizing or replacing the nut so feel free to go as light or as heavy a gauge string as you want.
From Jazz to Metal and everything in-between, this bass can deliver 10x over. The neck in my opinion is the shining star of this entire bass. Roasted Maple, commonly known for its focused midrange is front and center with the addition of Purple Heart for punch and clarity rounded out with the warmth of walnut. These wood combinations give you the perfect tonal balance. Articulate, full and focused, the Artisan Space 5 is ready for anything.

Cort is the most underrated brand and they are the most propositive ones in its tier. I have a huge respect for those brands that do not rely on copying Fender and bring something fresh for bass players. Kudos Cort! 🤟🏼

My little brother and I wanted to start a band in high school. We both wanted to play guitar, of course, so the deal was whichever of us got a summer job first got to be the guitar player. He won and with his first check he went to the local guitar shop and had a choice between an Epiphone Les Paul and a Cort. He went with the Cort as it was slightly cheaper. He never bothered learning while I dove headlong into bass. I eventually bought that guitar off him and had it for years. It had some sort of super hot P90s in it. It was really easy to get close to Iommi's sound with it. It ended up getting stolen. I miss that guitar.

@@bateman2112damn dude that sucks. I have a Japanese Ibanez 7420 I got off a friend of mine on a pedal trade, or $50 or something. I have a lot of nice guitars but I love that cheap 7 string. Beat to hell but still shreads. Cheap doesn’t mean bad especially nowadays. Sorry for your loss. I’d be sick if something happened to it. No other 7420 is like it I’ve tried to figure it out but there is something special about it

@@Clabian96 I own one BTB Ibby and a Cort GB75. Love them both, but GB is a blatant Lakland copy and this one is a so similar to Ibanez hedless, down to a logo placement, laser engraved. Lets mention battery compartment too. (It is not chambered or necktru, but that would not fit in this price)

But a zero fret has nothing to do with how the slots of the nut are cut, so i don't know why they would even make that claim

This demo actually sounds like a bass player in a studio playing on someone's song. Not just endless shredding all up and down the neck like virtually every single bass demo.

I'm debating grabbing this headless bass, or the Cort A5 SC (not fan fret). Which would you recommend? Going to a store to try them in not possible in the country where I live.

I wonder how "grabby" the nut cinchers are on the strings? It would suck if they slowly worked their way out, and now you have useless strings? And would they grab well with flats, or are rounds required?

very interesting bass for sure. But it kinda sounds...boring? I think the Barts MK1 sound a tad dull for me. And whats up with that space between the neck joint and the body?

  • @AndrejDoms

The body is made of soft maple with a polar top, not mahogany as mentioned here.

MK1’s and the other overseas bart pickups are like Glocks. You either love them or… well you know 😂
The bass looks and plays amazing and the neck is great. If you don’t like pickups that’s the easiest thing to fix
How it feels is not so much.
