I love my Cort. Been playing it for about 16 years now and it always sounds so good and holds notes so well! I guess I need to add this to my wish list now 😅
Thanks for the review! My first 5 string bass was a Cort. They make great cheap instruments. I recently bought a much cheaper one, the Action 5 HH, it's quite good, especially for just $350 I paid for it. The only issue I couldn't fix for free is shitty tuners. So guys, if you're just starting out or just want to get a new bass without breaking the bank, Cort is the way to go. And I also want to say that you, Nate, is one of the very few bass players on UA-cam who not only doesn't hesitate to show their real playing, but actually got great timing. This is simultaneously the most crucial and the most overlooked skill on any instrument, not just the bass. Thanks for being a real musician.
Took that baby out for a gig last weekend just 2 days after receiving it. 5h Partycover gig for 1000+ people. I did not change strings or setup. I must say I was not entirely sure and had my Sandberg as a spare, but this was a no brainer. Played it the whole night. It did fit well into the party music genres of Rock/Pop/Soul stuff. No problems with the setup, although it was a gig in a party tent, changing temperatures and humidity outside due to a thunderstorm mid gig. No problemo! I am amazed by the craftsmanship this instrument is offering for such a competitive price. Well done, @cortguitars!
I have the Cort GB modern 5 ( Nate does also, check his reviews) it comes with THE best hardware (hipshot, babicz) and Nordstrand pickups with Markbass pre. Best jazz style bass out there fir the money hands down
Nat Navarro is one of the Krell, and if you have seen the Forbidden Planet, in which Walter Pigeon has been studying the advanced Krell civilization, which was comprised of absolute geniuses in terms of invention and creativity, then here is your evidence: no one else on the planet seemingly thinks and creates lines that are outside the realms of creativity and invention like this, none other than Nate Navarro! I will now go buy this bass for sure!
Truthfully I’m not a big fan of headless basses, but this one sounds pretty cool. Especially since it has bartolini electronics(which I am a big fan of). And the design is really nice.
although there's so many cool technical things about the bass, but my personal favorite thing about this bass is actually just the color of it 😂 but yeah, cool video anyways
Interesting info from the "Bass the world" channel: They have measured the scale length and confirmed that it's a 35'' scale. @Nate Navarro: Can you please check this as well and (hopefully) confirm this? 😉
The Bartolinis are game-breaker. They sound pretty dark and Cort pretty much puts them everywhere - C-, B- and A- series now have it as standard and only the A ultra ash features something else (fishman fluence pickups).. Other than that, seems like a good bass. Shame there isn't a 4-string version.
I always appreciate your demos. They are very well produced and showcase what the instrument/amp is capable of in different configurations. You often use the Genzler Bass Array cabs. Do you have any experience with and thoughts on the BA12-3 version 2?
cort artisan bass are always a good base for mod. my favorite bass is my artisan 6. with delano sonar preamp ( from what i know, this preamp is really close to the bartolini one that is in MTD bass but for half the price in Europe) and MK6CBC pickup ( in serie for that ken smith sound, parallel is still too bright like the MK1 pickup but can come in handy when you play through a muddy amp/cab). honestly the only problem with the original artisan bass is the bridge that a real pain in the butt and depending on the setup, the intonation will be impossible to setup on certain string. honestly if they were to made a Artisan bass with an hipshot A bridge and bartolini USA electronic, even for 1600-1800 bucks, it will still be one of the best bass in that price.
I'm debating grabbing this headless bass, or the Cort A5 SC (not fan fret). Which would you recommend? Going to a store to try them in not possible in the country where I live.
The cort a5 sc has problems with intonation of the b string be aware. There is a diy fix but it need some handwork. When you search youtube you will come across a video about the issue
@prometheuskantate7111 I've seen that video about the intonation. I asked a bass group on Facebook and nobody there has had issues with it. Also, I could just get a thicker string to help.
Cort basses are great, but they should stop shoveling those MK-1 split coils in every affordable model. Would be nice to see basses like this with single coils at least.
I've played enough Corts already to know they make quality stuff, but I can't shake the feeling that they're asking a lot of money for their mid and upper range.
Don't know about their other stuff but this just appeared on Thomann for 725€. That's the second cheapest headless bass (after that Steinberger shovel-looking thing). Ibanez EHB (non-multiscale) start at 1K, so about 33% more expensive than this. If anyone wants to dip their foot into headless basses without spending too much, this looks like the best there is right now.
@@ileutur6863Even in standard tuning the B string sounds just better with a 35’’ scale. I wouldn’t call it a “fail” but I’m certainly disappointed. 🤷🏼♂️
@@ileutur6863 people figured out about 30 years ago a B string in normal tuning is better with 35. Lower tuning more like 36 and then a good time for multi scale
@@tomd341 While that is usually true. I've played basses with 34'' scale, which have just as good B-string as some 35'' scale basses have. I think often it's more about the build quality and construction than the scale lenght.

Sounds great! Love the opening progressive metal sounding riffs.
I would love to see some variety in pickups, they put mk1 everywhere...
And poplar burl tops. There's far nicer "cheaper" exotic wood tops and commodity pickups they could be using.
Yes, the bass seems really interesting, but I'm not a fan of these pickups at all.

Far Out!!!😊
Your playing is amazing!
We need more ad like this)
That is one mean sounding bass with some overdrive on it. Sounds just as good as a Dingwall!
Nate could play a broomstick and make it sound amazing 😂
Anyone whose technique is decent enough can. It's a matter of fresh strings and a good bass cab.
Great playing
Thanks, mate! 🙏
This is a sweet bass. But damn Nate! Your playing is sick and absolutely kills! So versatile. High five bro.
Left handed bass players can only dream of these basses

Can we get a detailed comparison between Ibanez ehb and this bass?
Seems to have a lot of the same DNA as Ibanez' headless models. Im also pretty sure that Cort builds a lot of Ibanez basses
Thanks for watching, guys!

I wish Cortek kept iterating the Haz clone preamp they used in the NS-2A. This bass has a Spector vibe.
I want one of these badly.
Would love to see if I could run this with a high C vs the low B!
Dayum, I've just bought a Sire V7 5er and THIS thing comes out! I can't afford another one and I want it sooo much, especially in this green :-(
Does anyone know what the song at the beginning of the video is? I would appreciate
Does it have a passive tone control with the preamp turned off?
wow so cool

Love the concept and sound. Just wish the bridge pup sounded better solo... but that this price point it's definitely a tolerable upgrade.
Great playing as always. Not sure about these pickups though 🫤
Nate, how’s the low B compare on this to a multiscale?
Quick!!! Get a straight jacket!!! The guy is INSANE!!!

Are all models offered by cort available left handed?
No, as far as I'm aware they only offer 1 lefty bass... bottom of the range.
Iam watching your slap tutorial now it's fun ❤
I can’t find this bass on any of those links :(
me neither, it looks like sweetwater does not sells this brand at all
It's new

That's my call too. Fed up of seeing mk1 on almost all the basses.
Honestly I really like Bartolini Mk-1's. They kind of sound like more versatile P style pickups to me.
nice Nuclear Power Trio Tone dude....
thanx Nate, justice served. Informative, clean, badd ass techniques and just the right info! Thank you and not I want one... $old :)

Can you hang this from a wall hanger with that little nub of a head?
Read the history of the company. That’s some nightmare sauce right there.

It's a fail with a 34 inch scale
Just because its headless doesn't mean the maind target audience is ridiculously downtuned djent guys

Looks quite a bit like copied homework from Ibanez EHB series. :)
Kinda, it looks like a pretty standard headless bass. Ibanez didn’t invent headless’
@@sjeffy5137 The material choices for fretboard, the finish, the 'headnub' design and Bartolini's all point towards it.
Ibanez (and many other brands) manufacture a lot of their stuff at the Cort factory in Indonesia, so they "borrow" a lot of stuff from them.
It's a reimagining of Cort's Space bass from the 80s. Cort also makes all non-Japanese Ibanez basses...
hiding this pretty burl top underneath paint should be punishable by death...
