      But never in my life would I have anticipated similar excitement from what is essentially a bit of admin.

      Yeah a new generation of strongmen have emerged, most of these guys like Bobby Thompson, Eythor Melsted, Kevin Faires, heck even Trey Mitchell, and last but not least Tom Stoltman were unknowns a few years ago.

      The groups were very unbalanced, which Made it exciting but very unfair. Also I dont see why pickaxe hold decides everything instead of a countback in first places deciding a tie .which oleksi would have won. And in general all events and groups were set to make it as hard as possible for oleksi. And I say that as someone Who roots for tom stoltman.

      The only reason he doesnt have 5 is because of that damn sandbag in the water that he dropped as well. Brian is forever one of the all time greats

      @@joebot9309 Brian only ever does just enough to win within his group, which was an easy task for him. Some of the guys in other groups had to compete full out as if they were in a final. You cannot compare their times to Brian's in this situation.

    Since the standard of strongman is impressive now I think a great idea for the organizers would be to expand the final to 12 men instead of 10 and have a sixth heat. This would hopefully avoid having one group be too stacked and would also allow five more athletes to have a shot at WSM instead of being stuck as a reserve after training hard

      Editing the broadcast of the WSM to be 2-hours-long would also be a huge improvement. They film all the qualifiers now and should use that extra footage to their advantage.

      An extra heat or an extra guy in each group? On head to head event the first man out always goes alone, and it would keep things interesting if you had two drop out from a single group like this year. I think there's enough strongmen out there to do both 😅

    That tiebreaker rule is absolute trash. If the fingers were the last event, then Novikov would have had a shot instead of Faires. I get that he could have done better, but these group rules are totally ridiculous

    As we all knew that the most stacked group was 5th and then was 2nd group. Both stoltman did awesome job. Luke kicked everyone's ass man. Awesome job by both the brothers

Brian sweeping through like normal, but Felix pushing it to the end, Stoltmans both booking tickets, Novikov out, injuries, illnesses, a Canadian duo... this year is crazy already.     I know this will be controversial as a lot of talk has been about a live stream of this event for some time now. BUT i'm loving your chat and it really feels like the 'old days' listening to the football results on the radio! We're so used to instant gratification these days, so i'm loving this retro feel! You are two are made this as well which helps, i love waking up (NZtime) to watch your show and the resuts. Now can't wait to watch the show eventually and of course go through his again for the final. Loving your work team, you've even got me back in the gym!

    I was very happy to hear Brian went to the finals but for the rest of the video I was just so nervous waiting to hear the results for groups two and five lol. So happy Rob got into the stone off. Unlike some people I like that guy.

      I don't think people dont like this guy, but like others more. Same with Brian for me, he is kind of overrated at this point in time. He is one of the best ever no doubt. But people seem to underestimate the other guys and I don't like to see that. :/

      @@seife41 I get your point. I just think people expect Brian to win so for the past couple years it has been a big let down. Not this year though. He looks very motivated and he lost weight. I see him and tom having a amazing battle for first place.I don’t agree with Brian being overrated.

    Trey Mitchell won his group and Tom is in the stone off. Oberst held the axe for nearly a minute, longer than anyone else did. Brian is on track for 5.
    I’m happy to see Auntie Liz survived the day. She’s such a joy to watch.

      Absolutely insane that he was screwed over in 2019 and 2021, but in 2020 the year he does make it to the finals he wins it all.

      @@southwestgal7 The Shaw Classic wasn't the main event for most of the guys and it wasn't what they primarily prepared for in 2020 as it happened soon after WSM. Novikov won the WUS this year by a huge margin.

      @@FJ24. They have a day to rest. Tom is also an animal on the stones, so assuming they were using a 180-200KG stone for those 5 reps Tom did to win the stoneoff, I doubt that did much damage to him.

    My three favorite strongmen are Novikov, Bobby, and Kevin Faires. It sucks to see those guys all in the same group while Constantine is basically unopposed.
