  • In this video, I unbox, setup, and install a Redshift Sports Shockstop Suspension Handlebar Stem.
You can get your own shockstop stem from Redshift Sports. redshiftsports.com/stem
One thing that is not in the instructions, but that I have since done is to lubricate the elastomers using a product called Buzzy's Slick Honey.
Important Note: I do not recommend using a regular grease of any kind on suspension elastomers since the chemicals in many greases can cause the elastomer material to break down.
Slick Honey has been used by professional bicycle mechanics to lubricate suspension elastomers for many years and can actually prolong the usable lifespan of your elastomeric suspension system. You can purchase Slick Honey from your Local Independent Bicycle Dealer. I have not been paid by Buzzy's or Redshift to promote either Slick Honey or Redshift products in my videos.
The products that I have reviewed to date have been either loaned to me for a brief time then returned by me, or purchased by me using my own money earned at my day job.
    Thanks for watching. Cheers!

I ordered one from Amazon and got the package and a stone in it. The reply was very quick, and they sent an actual stem this time, but clearly the Amazon warehouses don’t check the returned stuff. So it’s not as much a problem with Redshift as with Amazon.

Yes! Just ordered my stem & seatpost. I'm recovering from being struck by a vehicle back in April 2021, while going to a group ride early morning. But when doctors clear me again to bike ride. I'm using these to ease into riding my roadbikes again, since my arm and leg can't heldle road shock just yet since I had titaniumin arm and a bone graft in fractured leg. Really appreciate redshift team made these and right when I need them to recover the most! Many thanks!

Would never have thought Girvin FlexStem idea to catch on to this day. Couple of friends of mine used to change theirs quite often so I thought this would just be one of those mtb fads that would die.. good to see Redshift apply this more appropriately on road/gravel bikes.

@@prestachuck2867 Unfortunately I broke the internal screw, I think it's ruined. I'm gonna take to the local shop to see if they can fix my stupid mistake.....I'm so disappointed in myself.

Just installed redshiftsports to my mountain bike , it already has front shocks you may call it an overkill but I don’t care looking for the smoothest ride as possible

Eugenio Vazquez Let me know how it works out for you. I’m curious if it would cause control issues when both the stem and shock are in motion, or if it just improves the damping of the front end.

You edited out the most important and troubling part, which is inserting the stopper into the stem under the elastomers. I've been trying to insert it into the stem independent from the bike, holding it in my hands, but the screw doesn't line up with the hole for some reason. It seems there needs to be some weight put on top of it in order to squash it down to get it centered to align the screw with the hole. I notice at 10:30 yours looks cracked on the bottom maybe due to blunt force? Did you hammer it in? I guess what I'm going to have to do is install it on the bike first then push down on it as the weight of my hand and body weight may align things up.

Not cracked. Just lightly coated with Buzzy’s Slik Honey lubricant, then slid right into place with only fingertip pressure. No trouble or hassle at all. It’s still working perfectly today. Perhaps your stem has a defect. Contact the manufacturer.

Instructions state you must install in situ, so you can do just this, apply downward pressure so bolt lines up. It says you must not try to install off the bike!

A lovely handlebar. Is that the Specialized AeroFly? Or a Hover? I like the AeroFly more than the v.2.: just as sporty, but more accommodating to older, overweight or simply more inflexible riders.
How do you like the ShockStop? I just installed one, but won't be riding until it stops raining (it will for a few days, apparently).

    • @prestachuck2867

Leo_inter_Hyaenaem It’s an S-Works Carbon Hover Bar. I am not inflexible. The shape is comfortable to my hands and allows full access to the thumb shifters on my Record levers while riding in the drops or the hoods. I have now ridden the Shockstop Stem twice on consecutive days. I will make another video after I have spent a little more time with it. Thanks for watching and commenting. Cheers!

@@prestachuck2867 Thank you, clear. I obviously didn't mean to label you "inflexible". I am. I imagine, the Hover (or, better yet, the AeroFly) would alleviate the neck ache to a measure. Thank you, mate. Cheers. :)

Leo_inter_Hyaenaem No offense taken. I was just trying to convey that I believe the Hover Bar is alao an excellent handlebar for riders who do not have significant limitations as well as those who do. You are most definitely correct. It is one more tool at the disposal of bike fitters, and it’s a very nice handlebar to boot!
