I've been waiting for this game ever since its first trailer dropped. It seems like a charming and relaxing experience. My aunt lives in New Caledonia. And I would love to discover more of the culture and its vibes through a gaming medium.
The map didn’t seem too big to me (compare to other games), and I don’t recall any frame rate drops or crashes, but I played on PS5 (not sure if that makes a difference). I agree that the story isn’t super compelling, but I enjoyed it. I liked how chill it was, and I always, *always* super enjoy flying in games. I just wish you could unlock an infinite posess timer after you’ve beaten the game. The only issue I experienced was where I got stuck in a crack and fell through the map while a crab, and the game seemed to recognize this, as it went to load screen and sent me back with the message “You got lost in the void.” Another time, when Loise gave me the camera and wanted me to take a picture, a nearby wheelbarrow glitched and catapulted me about two miles into the air. XD That one I couldn’t do anything about though, since I was in photo mode and the game doesn’t let you progress until you take a picture of Louise, but it wasn’t anything a simple load didn’t fix.
Seems like the developers tried to deliver too much, rather than scale back and do less but better. It's a bit of a shame, because the game looks lovely and unique enough. Maybe a good stepping off point for future games.
I view it as a chill walking sim/visual tourism game with surprising depth rather than a Breath of the Wild with lacking features. I don't think it's trying to be a real gameplay heavy experience, more just a really pleasant place to be with some really cool little touches and quirks.
@@KidBowsur Why isn't that a problem? Some open world games really have size over substance. The reviewer clearly feels this one has too little content to fill the giant world.
Playing on series X and it runs beautifully. Not had a single frame drop or crash. It feels like a cosy exploration game to me. The collectibles are a fun distraction when you want a break from the quests. I like the customisation options and how each item of clothing gives you bonus for stamina, O2, flight etc. The cultural elements are beautifully done. The underwater exploration is nice (i swam around as a reef shark for an hour today lol) and the enemy fights add a little tension but nothing more than other cosy exploration games. I wasn’t expecting much but for a gamepass game this has really surprised me and is probably a game I’ll happily replay.
I've only been playing it for a little while but the movement controls are very good, you can do flips and shit and slide and stuff like that it's pretty fun. Also you can use palm trees as slingshots which is also pretty awesome
I don't know if they updated it after day 1 but damn, it was showing upscaling artifacts (like ghosting) like crazy. If this game is not agressively upscaled (no idea why it would need it) than I just wonder what is the reason for all the ghosting.
Love the art style. But, those sort of games never really hold my interest for long. I couldn't see myself getting even 50% in, to be honest. I'm prob not the target consumer in fairness. But they're clearly great developers. Hopefully it does well as a release. Clearly a lot of time and attention has been sunk into this
This game is amazing! The map is vast for exploration and the navigation system is pretty cool too. The only problem i have with the game is frame drops game could get really choppy
Was looking forward to play it but the performance issues and bugs drove me away after a couple of hours in. Its a good game but needs some extra work.
So you telling me that i don't have to cut the trees to gather logs / stones / weed for fiber / ropes and have grid to craft like all stupid games nowadays?
I've beaten the whole game and all the artifacts location and treasure location but on ps plus, I enjoyed the game itself , I enjoy how u can explore, soul jump into anything, imma buy it next month for sure
Me hearing the breath of the wild comparison: "Ok, can go on the list of potential interests" Me hearing the Assassin's Creed comparison 10 seconds later: *scratches game out with the darkest of markers*
With both Hogwards Legacy and Tchia (basing my intuition on this review) I see that the new Ubisoft-open-world-like games are trying to be interesting to explore and playful rather than “useful” to explore and grindy. I appreciate the direction, but I’m still waiting for something fun enough, or well written, or actually worth exploring for the sake of it. I think I’ll stick to the indie-small-but-focused games for the time being.
I think that this game would've been better received if the developers made it a story centered game with a semi open world, but i guess someone said "Hey, BOTW is still popular, do that" open worlds with barely anything to do but to collect stuff and look at how pretty they are are just boring to me, i played this for a couple hours but the game is way too simple for me, feels like the target audience is children, because of the artstyle, story and excessive size
There's plenty to like in theory. But yeah, after watching 5 mins of gameplay I was bored, and the reviews just re-enforce that there's really not much there.
a pretty big percentage of open world games have good stories on their critical paths. you know you don't *have* to chase the icons until you stop remembering the core stories, right?
SCORE: 2/10 We "Tried" Tchia twice, both times were played on OneXPlayer, 16gb, 4800U, & we "thought" this game felt like an extremely EARLY BETA version, As like most gamers, if Im just trying to find out if a game is even worth playing, u SKIP the story/dialogue a lot, this lead us to having NO IDEA where to go or WTF we were supposed to do, the game does have the quest objective, but NOTHING about where to go! We both gave up after approx 45mins. Its NOT like ZELDA BOTW, its LESS than 5% of what BOTW is or has to offer & Tchia is soooooo broken & just lame.

This game is great and felt polished! The exploration, soul jumping, mini games, music, and heart. Solid performance on PS5 too.
Performance on PS5 was 30 fps for me. Did not enjoy that part.
@@MikeIntrovertedBeardo Just choose performance mode in the option menu...

It's certainly not without flaws but it's full of heart and really fun so far! Will we get a ZP on this? Tchia being nautical themed and all!
good point. Tchia has a boat so Yahtzee is contractually obligated to a review
Any game with a poop button can't be bad

I'm going to play this game specifically because if the poop button. In fact I will spam the poop button constantly.
Magna Cum Laude Leisure Suit Larry had a fart button.
All faults with this game definitely are not because a lack of passion and care. You can tell there was alot of heart put into this.
This game needs more attention! It’s beautiful and is infused with so much genuine culture

Nah this is a bad review. His main complaint prior to them not excelling at anything is the size of the map which isn't a real problem at all.

“Semi-non violent” is quite funny considering the final cutscene lmao
I don't understand the negative reviews, as every video I've seen of this game makes it look like a 9/10 experience.
Thanks for the quick review
Sounds genuinely pleasant for a chill game, hope they iron the wrinkles out before launch
They didn't it launched on ps yesterday
Played it years, runs great. Awesome game.
Sounds like there's a solid game in there and they just need to bake it a little longer. Excellent review though! Very nicely balanced.
Planning on playing this one! Can’t wait
I will def play this but will wait for some patches, maybe a 60fps for ps5 but if they can stabilize fps and get rid of crashes I'll jump in
Huge open world and a trophy guide that’s needs 100% completion is a huge put off. They really should of scaled this game back
He's talking about in-game trophies, not achievements. There are mini games that give you trophies that you can spend like currency in the game
on PS5 the game runs perfectly

i love stories set on tropical islands. why does new caledonia have water in the middle in the game? is this post sea level rise?
It's New Caledonia in the same way that Liberty City is New York, based on but not a recreation.

I was so excited to play this game, but because of it's constant stuttering frame-rate, it's almost unplayable on the PS4. Such a shame...
Seems like Far Cry without the mass murder
game runs fine maxed out on my pc idk whats wrong with yours
Keep in mind, this 3MR was produced weeks prior to launch. Day one patches might have resolved my previous performance issues.
