I feel like everyone talks about how to get in but nobody talks too much about how to know if you would actually enjoy the experience and what it may be like or how extreme it is so people know if it's actually going to be a good experience if they do get in
That’s a great point, especially when you consider it’s meant to be a safe haven for LGBTQ+ folk, it would be great to see more articles giving people a list of places they should go to BEFORE berghain so they can figure whether it’s for them or not, I agree.
@@TAZS Yeah I'm saying this as an outsider who is part of the LGBT community and learning about it I feel like it would be a very fun experience. I would consider myself a very open person and would love a very sex positive fun space where everyone is kind of wild in their own way. However. I wanted to figure out more about what it would be like so I don't end up realizing it was too much for me but having trouble finding anyone talking about that aspect only regular people trying to get in even though it's clear to me they arent really looking for the experience but only to be able to say they got in and they probably arent at all the type of people the club is actually intended for and would probably not actually be comfortable there?
I like the idea of going to other places to try to get a feel for the scene before jumping straight in! If I were to visit that's absolutely how I would go about it.
Imagine, you keep hearing other people talking about “how to get in”, but no one really (and I mean really) talks about how it actually is in there... it must be such an experience that you can’t tell people how it is in there. What exactly is going on in there, that it makes it so special?

best club in the world. there are more impressive spaces, there are more underground spaces, and there are wilder spaces. but berghain's rare combo of epic + pure make it the most special. go there, be humble. if you get in, great, if not, try again another day. it's not personal and thankfully there are other world class clubs down the street. have funnn~

They need to have a video for those looking for a “normal” nightclub…I am sure that there is a country/western club or a 60’s to 80s music club there somewhere.
All the story's I hear make me wanna go more, just have a night of dancing on some mad trips while nobody cares.
I‘m Gay .-- and I love Techno Music … but i sometime i hard to be free in the club and not get some judgment …. but after i hear this … i feel luckky that has the club like this in the world for celebrations the LGBT and the Queer Couture

I'd no problem getting in. I went on my own after a gig more dressed for a squat party than a club. I think I'd an old band t shirt on and work boots. I must have stank.
I'm certainly not cool and not a dresser upper. I wouldn't have the first clue where to get 'clubby' clothes.
I'd no idea what the place was so I wasn't up against the reputation of the door selectors.
Never really had been impeded from going into a club except Dinamo D'vash in TLV where they also had selectors, though I got in there after 10 minutes of waiting to be picked.
I've watched a few videos since someone posted they didn't get in to Berghain and it looks like people are going there because of hype, dressing up in outfits they are just not their selves in just to try and look Bohemian or edgy to get in to say they've been when they are by character not "there is nothing new under the sun" type people.
Yes it‘s about being authentic, of course people dress a certain way because it‘s the style of the scene, but it’s obvious if that’s not you

On the race issue, whilst the Berlin clubs have given into SOME international pressure on racial inclusivity and diversity, its still worrying for that for these Berlin doormen that just because they let in some black and East Asian people does not mean they are not racist because it very clear that they discriminate against brown people especially Indians despite dressed like their white/black/asian counterparts, are gay (and you can see it), are true techno fans. The media is focusing on racism being a black-white and white-Asian issue so there is no pressure for them to include brown Asians like Indians. So much for promoting inclusivity and accepting people the way they are when actually it’s very exclusive and use grey area rules to discriminate but cover under the guise of danger to inside. Yeah a brown guy that was fine to the debauchery in Lab.oratory will be a major threat in Berghain. It pains me that Brown people have to be shamed for the the colour of their skin so blatantly.
The bouncers are supposedly easier on gays, but what this means in practice is those gays that look quite effeminate are treated softer. Brown people come from persecution of their sexuality by their families and their countries hence are naturally discreet and often prefer to be quite masculine and come to places like Berghain to experience liberation - but these doormen cannot see through this and judge their colour of skin, lack of feminine expressiveness as dangerous. Gays are a spectrum and all shades should have equal opportunity. If liberation got even one shade is blocked then there is no liberation at all and no different to the kind of hierarchical racism that Berlin has a murky past of which I hope they rid.
Insanity. If one person doesn’t get let into the club no one is let into the club. All this entitlement to get in. I didn’t get into the club, I didn’t a hot Caucasian partner, I didn’t get let into a Caucasian majority nation, I didn’t get the job I wanted because of discrimination. This mentality is societal cancer. Liberation = total entitlement.
