How to Play Kingpin in Dungeons & Dragons (Marvel Build for D&D 5e)

- Today we have a build for Wilson Fisk, the Kingpin of Marvel's New York in Dungeons & Dragons. Sometimes you want to beat up the best fighters without any super powers, so this is just a big fight man in D&D 5e.
Twitter: / tulokthe
Patreon: / tulok - Ігри
A good example of "not every barbarian is a savage from the north". Here we have the leader of criminal underworld without a single rogue level.
Rogues tend to be mobility heavy. Kingpin prefers to sit at his desk, but annoy him he'll beat you with that desk.
And remember everyone, this is how Tulok would make this character. If you’re wondering whether you can make a version of kingpin who is an aarakocra chronurgist, then yeah. Sure, you can. The point of the game is for everyone to have fun.
Iconic Hero is truly an ICON of Tulok’s comment section
*450 pound bird man drops on you from above, crushes you to death and proceeds to eats all your bird seed*
Still impressive that he customizes every level, I would say it is a worthy adaptation of the original concept
Imagine not making kingpin a grung artificer
Exactly, I’ve played 3 of his builds now (John Wick, sub zero, Rey), and they’re always a bit tweaked to personalize them to how I like to play and how much it helps the party.
“I am NOT a Redditor.”
- Kingpin, seconds before entering a Rage
You win.
"Car door as an improvised weapon" *looks up* Oh yeah. That scene.
Fun fact Justin Fields the QB the bears selected in the first round is vegan.
Dude weighs around 227 lbs. He has said since going vegan last year, he has maintained his pre vegan weight while also losing body fat percentage.
So kingpin probably didn't get to that weight while being vegan but he probably went vegan after hitting a wall on how much BF % he had. That and he realized that when you hit start hitting your 30s that eating certain foods make you feel fatigued afterwards. That isn't good if you are fighting spiderman...
*Edit* There is a species of seaweed safe to eat that has more grams protein per kilogram of it then chicken.
Also, lets be honest. With someone that strong thats going toe to toe daily with trained superhumans and handling themselves(somewhat at least), they have to be juicing on SOMETHING to get that strong.
Hitting Kingpin just worsens the beating he gives you.
Yeah, he's like Mongo with a brain. "Don't shoot him, that'll just make him angry"
Every punch you land, is another of your family members he'll kill even if you win the fight.
You mispronounced Ra's Al Ghul, it's properly pronounced "Reese's Pieces Al Ghul"
This is why I'm still subscribed. Once in a blue moon, we still get one of those builds I've been waiting for since the beginning. Can't blame you for the delay. Kingpin is one of those difficult, subtle builds that could be done in a lot of very, very different ways.
Fun fact: there are vegan power lifters who are fairly competitive. It's doable, is what I'm saying.
Historians have found most Roman Sport Gladiators ate exclusively Vegetarian diets.
Whats fairly to you because last time i checked they wouldnt even make top 100 in theyr weight class either
@@smite4032 bruh is that what it takes to be competitive in your eyes? There are people who dedicate their entire lives to sports that never see any form of recognition, does that mean they’re not competitive?
@@nicholas6836 yes if you played football your whole life and never made it past your regional league yes you're not competitive
"you don't need to be a monk to use martial arts"
I was thinking that while watching the Olympics. In taekwondo you are wearing armor, could be medium, but I don't find a barbarian subclass that fits; so heavy armor and the samurai subclass.
the armor is foam so it'd be light at most.
@@pedrogarcia8706 right, but if you were wearing a combat-ready version of what they wear, it'd probably be medium
You wouldn't wear foam into an actual battle
You also don't need to have the samurai class to be a samurai
@@aformofmatter8913 you wouldn't be doing taekwondo in armor. They wear foam guards because it's a sport. They're not actually fighting.
Probably would have taken ‘Tough’ instead of Magic Initiate. Same weakness, same strengths, just amplified on both ends. Now you’re REALLY bad at magical damage, but you’re also rocking well over 250 HP.
The Kingpin being a Vegan was something a writer came up recently, you can find older images of him online eating steak. comicvine.gamespot.com/forums/battles-7/batroc-vs-kingpin-h2h-662526/
I noticed that you only said Spider-Man Tulok... so does that mean you'll just use the money to kill Daredevil, Luke Cage and Iron Fist?
Hire Thanos to beat up Luke Cage like Machine Head hired Battle Beast.
I'll take the lack of response as confirmation
Counterpoint on your claim at the end of the build about "bad feats," Tavern Brawler is actually very good on Kingpin! While it was taken for the improvised weapons, this build makes incredible use of the second point of Bonus Action grappling! With proficiency in athletics, advantage on strength checks during rage, a capped strength modifier, a fighting style that allows you to do a good amount of punching (as well as a little extra damage against grappled targets), and an infrequently used bonus action, Kingpin makes an excellent Tavern Brawler even when not trying to throw a bus!
Now, if only I could come up with a similar arguement for Magic Initiate...
So we got Kingpin and Multiple spider people, but where is the J. Jonah Jameson build?
Bard/Rogue?
I just finished watching dare devil and now this.. thanks
We have been blessed with “Wilson power.” Thank you for not cutting that joke.
Excellent build
One of my favorite villains
Fun fact: this is also a build for Enoch from OFF.
Maybe, but the lack of sugar references and inability to become suddenly 100 ft tall both hurt the build...
@@ryanpeters3812 There aren't exactly a lot of effects that let you increase your size, especially not ones that stack and aren't spells. I don't think a single 2nd level spell is going to justify putting several caster class levels on a character that'd probably do best as a martial character, let alone what it'd take to increase your size to Huge or larger. Just grab a Potion of Growth.
@@leopardbunny I'd argue some more caster levels could be good, though: He has "spells", don't he? I don't remember correctly, but I think he has some mana drain skills. Wonder how you could replicate that in D&D
Big ups on a Fisk build!!! Cool.
Gotta love side tangents that just let him go
Honestly I would've gone with at least some mastermind rogue. Yes Fisk is a big guy that hits like a truck but thats not what makes him dangerous. If the kingpin is in a physical confrontation that means he's already lost.
I agree
But nothing’s stopping a DM from RPing him that way?
At the very least we'd want expertise in deception. Also these guides tend to be directed to players.
But yeah ideally drop a few levels into mastermind rogue and call the cane a rapier. Then rage sneak attack and bonus action help your underlings.
Hide the rapier inside a cane and have a swordcane!
Since you were talking about needing to having lackeys I thought that Noble background was going to be the subtype of Knight for the three retainers. And what is a Knight but a Noble that got their nobility from beating things up? He started as a bodyguard, and while Kingpin's empire does deal in blackmarket substances, the mafia is also big on "protection" money and Kingpin's certainly not afraid to still get his hands dirty cracking a few skulls.
Tommy Oliver power ranger build
Astal soul monk for the martial arts and zord and pact of the celestial warlock because your taking orders from a giant head in a tube and eldrich blast for your ranger blaster
Wow, now I really want to see this.
You might not kill Spider-Man with the Patreon money, but you never said anything about killing Daredevil.
Thank you for the video.
Tulok is 6'3"???? I can't believe this. The short king energy was immaculate
So you wont use the money to kill Spiderman?
What about Dare Devil?
You dont fool me, Tulok!
I will say this again, but what about Nacho Libre
Is he using a new font?
Hey Tulok I don't know if you'll see this but I wanted to let you know that you're my favourite channel on UA-cam. Your humour, charisma, ability to easily breakdown things in D&D, and of course, your politics and lack of tolerance of any bigotry/making fun of such idiots are always immensely entertaining. Also I recently started playing through Kingdom Hearts because of your videos and am really enjoying it. (Well except for Re:CoM's combat but eh) Keep being a super cool dude.
Battlemaster makes a lot of sense for the big mafia boss.
I'd personally just go for straight up Totem Barbarian with Fighting initiate - unarmed fighter as his variant feat. Emphasise Fisk’s spirituality off the battlefield and brutality on it. Then pick up Tavern brawler, Crusher and Chef. This plus going Bear-Bear-Elk emulates a lot of Fisk's stuff.
The upside compared to fighter is that this makes you the toughest MFer on the front lines and on average a better grappler. The biggest downside is that Brustal Critial is bad for d8 Unarmed compared to Extra attacks and it really reduces the emphasis on leading.
Immediately I am hooked
Ra's Al Ghoul = variant human noble/criminal/ custom background
Point buy 14 dex 12 intellegence, 14 wis, 10 strength 10 con 12 charisma.
Rogue mastermind 14 Monk 2 Bard 2
of
Way of Cobalt Soul Monk 18 Bard 2
You can flavor the magic as gadgets
Also, level 2 bards get jack of all trades and inspiration That's how I would do it, but I'm not a successful UA-camr.
I have one request. Could you do me in D&D? A pretty popular Star Wars character who is a great leader and is very good at deducing how to defeat his enemies using art.
Thrawn will probably be done after the Asoka show runs for a bit, since I do not think there are any videos/video games with Thrawn for the background video
@@scottsbarbarossalogic3665 Star Wars Rebels
@@RiptidePen Yeah, Thrawn shows up in Rebels Season 3.
Hell yeah! He is one of my favourite Marvel villains. Along with the Lizard, Sabertooth and Thanos.
Also, day 5 of asking for Arthur Morgan
I like samurai + scout with chef, prodigy, cbe, and ss for Arthur but I’d really love to see Tulok’s build.
Ayee love this build def gonna use for my next party. You Should try to do Deathstroke even tho he’ll probably be broken
Appreciating the rant about size and diet
This is gonna be a really odd request but can you make a build for Wayne from Letterkenny?
Awesome request, though I have a feeling Wayne's build would be something very simple, like straight champion fighter.
@@ianthompson3628 Texas size 10-4 on that bud. Still, should be really entertaining to see.
A Shoresy build would really have to find a way to max out on damage from vicious mockery.
Pitter patter let's get at her
Wayne is an unarmed style battlemaster fighter mixed with totem warrior barbarian for toughness. Just take a feat to get vicious mockery and mending. Folk Hero background
I wanna see your version of Bane team up with your version of Kingpin. That would be terrifying.
How to build Randy Savage in dungeons?
"Snap into a Slim Jim"
Goals:
1. Wrestlemania: Elbow Drop into a battle with the moves of a testosterone fueled lion, you bring on the hurtin with style.
2. Starpower: Bravado and Confidence are your greatest tools. Your totally ment to miss that jump, it was all apart of your plan. Use your charms to intimidate foes, boost moral and tweek those negatives your bad rolls gave you.
3. Savage: you're not locked in a cage with a man spider, he's locked in a cage with you. Take full advantage of your lack of armor and weapons, you master the art of climbing and acrobatics like a wild beast. Side note you could have totally been Cravin the Hunter if it weren't for your diet of Slim Jims.
I would probably get the "tough" feat instead of "magic initiate"...
But I'm just a newb at D&D who hasn't played a single game, but loves watching these build videos...
Wilson Power intensifies
On the subject of more character build options, I have a few suggestions. First of all, Tenchi Masaki from Tenchi Muyo! could be interesting to see, there are a few different continuities in the Tenchi Muyo! franchise (I suggest you start with the original Ryo-Oki timeline, it's where everything started and there are 5 seasons to go through but only 3 of those seasons are dubbed in English but due to how the original 3 seasons are broken you will probably still have to find a watch guide to know how to follow things in the proper order) and a few others from Tenchi Muyo! might be fun to see get built, like Ryoko and Washu. Also, I've recently started playing through the Atelier Sophie series (I just started playing the first game in the series the other day) and it might be fun to see Tulok try and build the characters from that series, especially with how they get new abilities, also I hope you like crafting because quite a bit of the first game focuses around Sophie as a practicing alchemist who is slowly becoming more capable in that particular field, also one of her friends claims to be able to talk to plants and fights with a shovel (if that guy ever gets built there is a good chance some of the stuff from the Shovel Knight build will make an appearance for him as well).
"YOU EMBARRASSED ME IN FRONT OF HEEEERRRR!!!!"
Would love to see your takes on:
Jade Fox (Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon)
Shendu (Jackie Chan Adventures)
9 (9)
Tia Dalma (Pirates of the Caribbean)
Jack Burton (Big Trouble In Little China)
Ceasar (Planet of the Apes trilogy)
I love this build! I think the only two things I would change are taking out the Magic Initiate and adding in Skill Expertise (or Prodigy) focusing on Athetics and Grappler. Since the character grapples so much, that's free advantage on his attacks.
Kingpin can have a little Advantage, as a treat
Looking forward to bullseye build
Still waiting for the Scp-049 build. Please get to that☺️. Otherwise, great video. Always was a fan for the Charismatic gang leaders 😉.
Yes please. Bump!
Yay for Wilson Power!
A really cool build would be Minato Namikaze, from Naruto.
I'm thinking 9 soul knife rouge / 11 Horizon walker ranger
Other options are:
- divine soul sorcerer: he has one half of Kurama inside him, and cleric spells serve as sealing jutsu
- archfey warlock: teleportation and eldritch smite for a Rasengan
- kensei monk: speed and special kunais
Tulok.. you talked about dealing with Spiderman but show mostly clips from the Daredevil show. Your Daredevil build was good too.
4:00 He can't be. He makes the exact same omelette every morning. With eggs.
5:20 You noticed too.
4:03 kingpin is eating a shitload of trenboloni sandwiches
9:28 wait, but what if i grab hex with magic initiate? Eldritch blast is also a good pistol
So that's how YOU would make the character! Tulok did it their way, you do it your way! Both are valid!
@@benjoffe948 i know, i am not trying to make it more in character, just straight up powergaming (╹◡╹)
@@Dile0303 Lol fair, munchkin gang
Haha heehee
Kingpin build,
still no Uncle Iroh
in my motherf*cking guild.
A bald or balding big guy
part of his family has actually died
... And I realize I've got no bars,
but still wish for an Iroh build to help with Zuko's scars.
Damn...
King Pin vs
Bane, Tom Hardy version
That'd be a fight
Or
King Pin
Vs
Senator Steven Armstrong,
From Metal Gear Rising
Great build...I think I might have gone a few more levels in Barbarian.
Do Asta from Black Clover next....(eld. knight with a a focus on counter magic?)(Hexblade with a big 2 handed sword?)
I would say Bullseye is only 1 level of rogue to get the skills and the sneak attack bonus, and one level of monk to get martial arts. The rest? Fighter, either unearthed arcana sharpshooter or the classic champion with both thrown weapon and archery fighting styles. Add the tavern brawler feat, maybe the sharpshooter feat, max out that dex for Dex (Ha!) and then you’ve got like, all the attacks, with anything you can put hands on used as a weapon, ignoring 3/4 cover, adding sneak attack bonus. True, you could also go to just two more levels of rogue, get the assassinate feature from the Assassin archetype, but honestly I just love the idea thrown-weapon fighting suddenly becomes useful when you’re spamming with all these nigh undodgeable attacks from a distance.
When tulok has to list "no magic" as a con, you know its a damned good build folks
Hey Tulok, this is a great build from a great franchise. Want to know what else is a good franchise? DC comics. You should make a Martian Manhunter build or a Batman Beyond build. Even just a video about how you go about making these videos
I'm a little late to the game, seeing as he actually just did the Martian Manhunter build lol
He's done Batman, Nightwing (all of the Teen Titans, come to think of it), Mr. Freeze, Deathstroke, I'm pretty sure he's done either the Flash or Superman...those are just what I remember. He might be preferential to Marvel, but he's definitely shown DC the love.
Before viewing I want a barbarian with stupid high intelligence and charisma. Completely nonfunctional but brilliant in so many ways
I'd love to see a How to Play Death from Darksiders in Dungeons and Dragons :D
Ah, but you forget the elusive Ras (hard "A" sound) version! Your clever plan foiled!
Seriously tho, good stuff
He says Fisto at the end of the video, Fallout build confirmed??
Here's one That may be fun. How to play Wu-kong the monkey king. Interested to see what path he would take
I'd throw some Rune Knight in there with some Warlock
@@kawawangkowboy9566 I could aww that. I also thought Echo Knight to show off the clones
the king of pinning
I like to think Kingpin operates much like any large herbivore - he spends most of his day browsing foliage (ie: a salad bar he has built into his office*), so he's basically on the elephant body plan build. You wouldn't want to fight an elephant either.
*You would have one too if you could. Don't lie.
Episode 309 of the Fire Emblem stats: Wilson Fisk.
Kingpin's good at brawling, authority, and heavy armor, obviously, but he's also good with bows and has axes as a hidden talent since he fits the axe user archetype so well. He's weak with both types of magic since he's just a normal guy.
He's the typical tank with high HP and defenses but bad magic, speed, and dexterity.
Speaking of bullseyes, would you give Jesse Faden the sharpshooter feat?
Thanks
Do Beorn the skin changer from the hobbit next, I beg of you.
Yeah, that could work. But is it the best way to make him a PC? I was thinking something like variant human or maybe Goliath because he's so big and then some multiclassing of circle of the moon druid and barbarian or fighter? But I'm sure what the best way to multiclass those things would be, or maybe there is a different way to do it?
Loved this even more for the VeganMuscle rant
Commenting to boost the algorithm and adding a request to build I-No from Guilty Gear cause why not
I can’t watch this because of spoilers but I would if I could live your vids and keep up the good work.
Side note- Could you make a lightning based build next, someone like black lightning or electro.
He has Storm, Static Shock and Magneto who all have lightning spells and similar builds. Check them out:)
Omg that's awesome, saroru gojo when pls????
Still pulling for Eglantine Price (Bednobs and Broomsticks), Winifred Sanderson (Hocus Pocus), Prince Voltran (Flash Gordon), Captain Kirk, Commander Spock, Councilor Troi, Mary Poppins, and the Reverend Doctor Syn (The Scarecrow of Romney Marsh).
Please do Bullseye next!!!
I don't feel great asking, but could you try Lupin the 3rd?
Bullseye needs thrown weapon fighting style, right?
I hope Bane is basically this build with Rune Knight and maybe more barbarian levels
Hate to well actually but… in the old comics kingpin was a mutant. He had superhuman strength. He looked fat but it was all muscle he also had genius level intellect. But great job. The one you made is more Netflix but still cool.
Magic Initiate gives 2 cantrips. I would go with either Friends because your charisma isnt too great and who cares if they like you if they fear you, Blade Ward incase you want to be thicc without using your rage, or True Strike to keep that joke going.
The Kingpin in the Daredevil Netflix series is very definitely not a vegan but I can understand if he is in the comics
A cool build that would be cool to see is frank horrigan from fallout 2
Love the use of the unarmed fighting style in fighters these days. Been thinking of a way to build a character, and the Kingpin could be fun.
Side note, one character I would love to see in one of these videos is my boy Shang Tsung.
Monk - Warlock, Sorcerer, or Wizard?
Warlock. there's a invocation that allows you to disguise self at will
Could you please make a video showing how to play/create a Judge Dredd Character. Thanks a lot!!
I thought he would have a little bit of bard so he can make his goons better
New life plan-
-Become a 400+ lbs muscle lord
-Train in hand to hand combat
-Take over my local crime network
-Become vegan
-Make Tulok look foolish
Yeah, veganism is a lifestyle, I don't think it's ever stated that Kingpin gain his bulk while being vegan, so he very well could have bulked up, then taken the lifestyle
Speaking of Kingpin and being a vegan. Michael Clarke Duncan, who played Kingpin was a vegetarian.
I’d vote for Bane next!
I would like to suggest “Mad” Max Rockatansky, from “Mad Max,” Karn from “Magic: the Gathering,” if he is capable of being built, or Taarna, from the Heavy Metal movie.
Id say modern kingpin would be a barbarian with how mad they made him but the one im used to isnt so rageful
Do invincible next
Can we get Vincent from FF7 Cerberus or an Asari Biotic build?
Love the concept, but I personally would have done 20 lvl barbarian, with fighting initiate for unarmed fighting style at lvl 1. With starting point buy stats at 14, 12, 14, 11, 10, 12. +1 in str and int from race.
Then at 3rd level go Bear totem
Lvl 4: crusher feat for more fisk fist action with 1 point into str
Lvl 6: bear again for str checks are better and better carry capacity
Lvl 8: boost str
Lvl 12: boost str again
Lvl 14: pick elk for bull rushes
Lvl 16: str again
Lvl 19: boost Con
And at lvl 20 you have stats at: 24, 12, 22, 12, 10, 12. Over 250 hp and hit like a truck.
Tulok built Kingpin as more of a "thinking" fighter than a straight punching fighter. I think it's a better fit for the character than straight barb, but it's hard to do him justice physically this way, but harder to do his mental fitness the other.
Cows are herbivores and they can exceed 450lbs. Maybe he eats an astonishing amount of spinach
Could you build Teela, Orko, or Evil-Lynn from Netflix's Masters of the Universe 2021?
Please Do Tokoyami Fumikage OR Frog From Chrono Trigger!
Do you think you could do Baki Hanma from Baki the Grappler
Original guess before starting video
Berserk Barbarian/Mastermind Rogue
Ra's al Ghul
Also, Vegan Power: Scott Pilgrim would be proud
