- Today we have a build for Oswald Cobblepot, the Penguin in Dungeons & Dragons! Batman's truest foil has plenty of gadgets and wits of his own, bringing the mastermind archetype to D&D 5e.

Most of Tulok’s bat family is gonna have evasión so he’s doubly right about that exploding cannon feature
I definitely like the idea of Penguin as a Mastermind Rogue since he is at his best when played like a crime lord. Why do the dirty when you have mooks that can do that for you while you remain back at your "legitimate" job with your flippers clean?
Also...I want a gadget filled umbrella. Maybe something like what Dennis Stanton had in Murder She Wrote. Dart gun and retractable dagger near the point with a detachable multitool in the handle.
I thought he already made Penguin in December, but that was Deedeedee. He even used the same joke in the intro.
Ba ba ba ba bird bird bird!
I would have thought Animal Handling would be a necessity.
It was always odd to me how Nolan considered Penguin too unrealistic to be in his movies, even though Penguin is just a mob boss with a deformity.
Low charisma is odd because Penguin's charisma seems to wax and wane heavily. Sure he's ugly but people are still drawn to him, and he was able to get elected mayor that time. Apparently did an ok job at it too (naturally he was crooked as a three dollar bill but that's what Gotham is used to anyway).
Just a short fat guy with a big nose. And people have been killed with concealed weapons in umbrellas several times in the Cold War.
We need ALL the Danny Devito builds.
His character from twins 2 level peace cleric 18 mastermind rouge
He won an Emmy, but his only Oscar nomination is for producing Erin Brockovich. That don't seem right.
We need his Frank from Always Sunny character build
I'm actually so happy seeing clips from The Batman tv series, that show was my childhood!
I will always remember seeing the weird penguin man eat fish for the first time in live action
Huh. You analysis about penguin and batman has made me realize something as a whole that's different about DC vs Marvel rogues galleries. Thanks for the video idea.
I know you're busy and all but I would love to see a fight similar to the level 40 Thanos vs the avengers but with you DMing a level 40 Batman against a party of his rogues gallery.
The TRUE best villain of the flying mammal crusader is uppon us! pay your respects to the one gentleman of crime or he will shank you with his umbrela if you dare to disrespect the tuxedo.
Oswald Chesterfield Cobblepot is that weird little man that ACTUALLY is totally sane and normal, unless you see some other adaptations where he is an absolute monster... a weird deviation to the villain that was depicted sometimes as handsome and that can show the ingenuity of tech and the cunning needed to be top bird on the underworld (A man with ambitions just as big as mine for a Tangle the Lemur build, and i have the advantage since there is no Batman between me and Sir Tulok! btw, please?) Become the one classy master of the town with a iron wing, doing all you need to win, even framing the bat for insurrance fraud!
All the footage from The Batman (tv show not film, I guess we have to specify that now) is much appreciated, love that show
Excited to see how he makes this member of the Batman Rogues gallery a bard lol
I finished the video but I still don't buy it. You've tricked me before Tulok
I mean, the only times where he unexpectedly made a Batman villain a bard was when his thumbnails read (villain) is not a (expected class)
@@MegaPokefan97 That's true and also Scarecrow from before he started personalizing the thumbnails
Exce;llent build. Would have loved to see footage of Burgess Meredith from the 60s show.
As for requests would like to see more star Trek builds, especially KHAAAAN! If you haven't seen the second Star Trek movie you should before building
Woohoo, my favorite Batman villain!
A great build for a Batman Rogue. Ineffective to the Bat-family who specilize in them, and nightmares for others
Didn't even think about that angle. Go's catch!
A little sad there weren't any clips from Gotham, probably the most interesting take on The Penguin as a character (along with being one hell of a wild ride as a show in of itself)
And honestly I think the best LA Penguin yet... as someone who gre up with Batman Returns.
Don't start watching Gotham again I think it kind of got ruined from me after something happened is it worth it but I do definitely think the regular and penguin from Gotham are the most interesting versions
Mastermind Rouge and Artificer....wow he is like Batman...or Owlman, either way this is close to how I start a Batman build although mines probably more a Terry McGinnis feel
Tulok should make Ichibei from Bleach. His power is literally calligraphy and he literally works for a godlike entity, the soul king. He uses a lance that's a really big calligraphy brush and instead of physically cutting things, he cuts their metaphysical/true names. Anything and anyone cut by his attacks has their physical abilities halved as the name is also halved. Anything painted by his black paint lose all their powers as they lose their names, and with the white paint he can give new names and thus new stats and powers to someone, such as naming his enemy a black ant and then making a giant energy foot to step on him. if he writes something such as "conceal" on an object, the object turns invisible. If this isnt the most tulok character ever, I don't know what would be.
Now I just wannna play this build so I can say, "I AM NOT A VARIANT HUMAN! I AM A DOHWAR!" Happy Spelljammer day everybody!
Still pulling for Eglentine Price (Bednobs and Broomsticks), Winifred Sanderson (Hocus Pocus), Councilor Troi (Star Trek: tNG), Mary Poppins, the Reverend Doctor Syn (The Scarecrow of Romney Marsh), and Sir Dragonet King Arthur's jester (le Morte d'Arthur/ Idylls of the King).
Looking at Arty Artificer, I wanna see more Borderlands builds since I primarily main Axton in BL2
Jesse Faden is another leader who is good with a gun and can call upon allies to fight with her.
The major thing I don't agree with about this build is that Penguin is and has always been a survivalist and has always been one of the major tropes where he is a rising phoenix as in you can kill him, you thought you did but in actuality he usually is tough to kill. Many games including DC Legends usually place him as a tricky or genius Tank as in he has an absurd amount of HP and defences but sometimes he's slower than the rest of the party. Penguin is hard to sometimes pin and some aspects of his background do change but he's always been reliable and steady with the themings of his character.
Lower charisma is odd too because Penguin has always been a character who learns and adapts and from this he can make nearly anyone think he is something that he is not; in the show Gotham this is aptly true because he came from a lower class home and built his image up.
Overall pretty solid build of his understanding.
Nice build
A good villain for sure
Correction, the best part about Cloud of Daggers is there's no save 😈
I gotta know, how to build "Ladybug" from Bullet Train, Brad Pitt's pacifist mercenary with the world's worse karma, the anti domino.
A Batman villain eh? Time for another bard then?
Not that I mind, because I find them so thematically appropriate.
Edit: he dumped charisma. Never mind :P
I won’t tell you how to make spaghetti 🍝 but I will pay you to serve it to me.
Liking this for the dedede callback alone!
I like this build
With Autognome's now out, would you use them to make an R2 unit? If so how would you go about making R2-D2?
I understand that D&D is more popular for the subject of your videos but I would like to see you explore the same builds but with different games. I think these builds fit better with a game like City of Mist.
Have you thought about doing Elric of Melnibone or the rest of the LoTR cast like Elrond, Boromir, Galadriel ect..
I know wing boots are better, but wouldn't a broom of flying be closer to what a helicopter umbrella is?
Honestly, now I don't know which I wanna see more. A Damian Wayne build or a Skipper from Madagascar build
Have you thought about doing Duster from Mother 3? I think it could be a very interesting build!
okay with the new Plasmoid race, think you can make a Rimiru Tempest from That Time I was Reincarnated as a Slime
Thanks.
Hmmm, would like to sneak some fencing into this build. Maybe I'd drop those last two Wizard levels for something for theme. Does the Penguin do a lot of hypnosis?
Glorious

Instructions unclear, I'm eating a penguin.
Danny Devito was born to play the Penguin, and then the movie failed him. Still salty about it.
Yep
Before watching: he's gonna probably be either Vuman, TCL, or Kenku. Definitely an Artificer, maybe Shepherd Druid for penguins, and maybe either Order Cleric (ironic I know) or Glamor Bard (the bossiest Bard)
"I don't go into restaurants and tell them how I would've made the spaghetti" is the reason I don't go out to eat. I've convinced myself I can cook better than classically trained chefs when in reality I can just make things the way I like them cheaper than going to a restaurant to eat something I don't prefer
I'd like to request a Harriet the Spy build?
Pre-vid prediction: custom lineage, magic initiate for Feather Fall and a bonus to INT. High INT and DEX, low CHA and WIS. Artillerist Artificer 16, focusing on flame based attacks, and Champion Fighter 4, with either the duelist or defense fighting style. First ABI caps INT, next 3 cap DEX, last one goes to Tough.
Hear me out: Magikarp in DnD
Very fun build. Would like to see everyone’s other favorite black and white bad boy- BEETLEJUICE!
I woulda done monk and artificer as he is trained in martial arts and he has his trick umbrellas
Hope to see Spear and Dang from Primal
I realize that you likely have characters in mind for the next several, but with the release of the Plasmoid race I find myself very curious as to how you would make Flubber....
Zero footage from the new Batman makes this my fav video yet
Ey we went full circle from the DeDeDe build!
Cloud of daggers RAW actually has no save.
You just invalidated Gordon Ramsey's whole career with one sentence. I don't tell them how I would have made the spaghetti, I just eat the spaghetti. 😆
Have you ever done a digimon build? Specifically Beezelamon or Wargreymon?
So if you do multiple characters in one episode, you could do all the classes for Commander Shepard and modify the stats accordingly.
Penguin!!!
Not the Madagascar build?
Dart from Legend of Dragoon?
I don't think anyone can build it effectively. What do you think?? Upvote please?
Braak Braak Braak!!!
6:37 i thought you were saying your name here at first. like tulok's per-tise whatever that means.
It feels odd that Gilgamesh and Iskandar are the only Fate characters you've built since they're both from a weird prequel. I'd love to see Emiya Shirou or Tohsaka Rin at some point.
I really wanna see lucy from elfin lied somehow done
I wonder if it is possible to make a decent Kaido.
Aw hell naw man, where the bard levels at?
Now that Better Call Saul has finished when are you going to make Saul Goodman and Walter White?
can we get a natsu build?
Outstanding as always. I know you don't do rebuilds but if you ever break that rule, rebuild Batman. You build is good but Batman is not CON 8 . Don't make me make 5E builds.
Do Darkseid
Make " Hawk Eyes" Mihawk
How do I suggest a character for future polls?
I think it's on his Patreon
I'd personally put his dex down to 12 and his charisma up to 12, penguin's a charismatic guy who understands how to manipulate people, maybe you could also replace the rogue levels with battlemaster as he is a very dirty fighter and would have manuevers based around it.
You did get one thing wrong, Danny Devito is actually god not a human
Guessing mastermind battlemaster
You should make artorias
Day 1 of asking for Connor from Detroit: Become Human!
Could you do Damien Wayne? (Batman’s biological son)
I'm gonna guess Druid to speak with and control birds.
Edit: Well F*** me I was wrong. Thought for sure there'd be something in there to reference the fact he has used birds to commit crimes. But I suppose on some level you don't want to make him too MAD.
Wow you really seem to hate your job if you are thinking people can't nitpick a few things about your build they would have done differently. Most people would realize those nitpickers (which may include myself) that comments are pleasing UA-cam's algorithm. This is good for you. So... why so serious? lol!
I wouldn't change a thing about your build for once. Very fitting the pinguin!
For some reason, some commenters take it really personally when they would make something differently, as though Tulok is providing the "Official" way to translate these builds.
He's only calling out *that* unhealthy behaviour, he has also provided other fun alterations in the past because it's your game at home!
@@AwesomeWookiee Interesting... I always say this as a interesting discussion topic where no point of view was more special or accurate then the others. Its all a matter of perception in this case, just like art or philosophy. I can understand how "intent" is harder to understand in text where there is not always emotion expressed to understand the texter's intention.
From my perspective, it always seemed like Tulok don't see it as a discussion topic and dont like his perception and his work to be questioned. I believe its "easier" (or at least more understandable for me to see it that way) to think that since his humor is very deadpan and sarcastic.
I do miss the fun alteration or side-notes about the builds he did in the past, to show us what he did consider while making the build. Discovering his thoughts process while making the build was so awesome! I hope he does that more! EDIT: added "deadpan" to his sense of humour lol
Master. How could I do to build some Character like Warhammer Ultramarines, or Gears of war, or Rayonr from starcraft or something like that... You know some heavy Armored soldier. :D :D :D :D
I'd like to see kano from mortal kombat, maybe m bison, John Cena, agent smith. A goblin of some sort, maybe a gremlin from gremlins?
Good build, great video. Day 2 of requesting a build from the game Evolve, everyone should check it out. Have a nice day.
First. Calling Human Rogue/Artificer.
At Class Level 5. Called it.
Where is Shantae?
