"We're not defined by a blueprint if we re-write the plan. So will you paint paradise with the stroke of an artist's hand." I get chills everytime I hear this song end.
This is the most awakened band I ever heard. I've never heard music that's meant so much to me. From the lyrics, to even the music videos are magnificently created. I love what they stand for. I'm so glad to see someone use their talent to change the world for the better.
Gotta say this album turned much better than I expected. I love how they're not conforming to the try-hard metal elitists who complain that this "isn't heavy enough". If you want to listen to a Metalcore band that cranks out the exact same album over and over again then there's PLENTY of bands to choose from. Northlane are clearly developed musicians -- playing two-step br0downs that lost their charm way back in 2010 would only hold them back. They're at a higher level.
Now that I listened to the all thing, I've got to say that Node is a great album, my favourite from Northlane so far! I love the direction they took, it's a lot more personal than the first two albums and you can't deny it! In my humble opinion, both on Discoveries and Singularity there were a lot of "generic-core" songs that prevented me to fully enjoy those albums, whereas on Node there's no such thing. There's no filler, only great songs, every song has a purpose and I love it.
Matteo B i agree with you in terms of their new direction is very good and i rly support it but you saying that in Discoveries or SIngularity there were generic core songs is absurd. Northlane is one of the most original and diversed bands i've ever heard
I understand where you got genericore with the previous albums, but they were still killer albums. Singularity had no fillers what so ever man! Discoveries was generic but still great and Node is just completely separated them for any band in their scene, it's beautiful
Meh nah ohm weightless and soma are the best songs on the album because they build up really nicely throughout the song and keep it interesting where I feel like this song just stagnates
I've been waiting for northlane to release a massive really long final track for so long, and not only did they do it but it's one of the best songs i've ever heard, it's been a long time since i've loved a song this much
This is probably the best song I have heard in quite a while from any band in this scene, and I was amazed by Earthwalker/Skydancer and all of Northlane's previous works with Adrian. With that being said: Like it or not, these guys have succeeded tremendously doing what they love and no one commenting here is gonna take that from them. They already had a strong foothold, now I think they are really gonna start to shine! Much love Northlane \m/
And on top of that, they even spelled it out for everyone with this song..."no maps to guide us, no compass beside us"...."We're not defined by a blue print if we rewrite the plans."...they aren't following any guidelines set for them by a record label or the genre in general...they're doing what feels right to them and going where it takes them. "The greater sacrifice grants the greatest gift in life."
In hearts wake is garbage the were good when divination came out I even seen them 4 times on that album cycle but earthwalker is an embarrassment in comparison
Brad Kadou That it do, but Singularity was the album that really got me into them. For some reason I passed over them when I first heard Discoveries. Obviously, it was a mistake.
The narrow road is all I know No map to guide us No compass beside us The narrow road The great unknown The greater sacrifice grants the greatest gift in life No more assembly lines of aspirations connecting carbon copy clones Every artifact is marching like commodities of flesh and bone The consistency of our censored thoughts Tread a static course Ordinary people: your outlook is lethal Chiseling away imperfections Until rough edges are same and smooth The tools have now become too blunt To break any of the rules Post-modern minds bleached blank and clean Drawing pixelated lines In duller shades that my eyes have ever seen The narrow road is all I know No map to guide us No compass beside us The narrow road The great unknown The grater sacrifice grants the greatest gift in life No more assembly lines of aspirations connecting carbon copy clones Every artifact is marching like commodities of flesh and bone Post-modern minds bleached blank and clean Drawing pixelated lines In duller shades that my eyes have ever seen We're not defined by a blueprint if we re-write the plans So will you paint paradise with the stroke of an artist's hand?
The first thing that I think of when I listen to this song is that old 90 's song "So take, these broken wings. And learn to fly again" Pretty damn nostalgic
Gotta say this album and Oceans Ate Alaskas is like a total new build for the metalcore/prog setting. It's amazing what a turn in direction can do to bands. I'll always love Discoveries and Singularity but this tops them. (My Opinion)
I love how the lyrics seem to be hinting at transhumanism and how it's probably not a great idea to be messing with the "blueprint". This band seem like some awake individuals.
I dig it. Just seems like a lot of bands have a similar vical sound to peripherys voicalist Spencer. Periphery is all ya need. Lol. That is a voice of angels.
I very much believe that as a fan, an appreciator of artist's works, I listen to a band not because they make music that I like, but because they make music that they themselves like, and I do. I can appreciate the direction this band's been moving in since Discoveries (that and Singularity are 2 albums that I often replay even in 2015). I'm not trying to act like I know NL or whatever, but I assume they've been trying to incorporate a DLC and Karnivool type vibe into their style and if that's their decision, I can live with that. I just hope that you all in NL know that you do still have fans that long for that masterful attack/bite your riffs had on Discoveries!
So I used to pretty much dislike this album because of how different it is from what got me into them (Singularity). But I never give up that quick, I always see what bands are doing new. Seeing where they are today and listening to this again for the first time in years, has given me a new respect beyond anything any other band I’ve listened to puts out. They said fuck it, and did their thing, and stuck with it. And they kick ass at doing it. What I’m trying to say is Marcus, nic, and other members I can’t think of right now, thank you. For being an inspiration. Your music has truly influenced my life.
wow and marc morin has a point a few northlane songs while taking transit has just like punched me in the face with emotions. Northlane's just getting better
***** Gotta agree this will probably be my amongst my favorite Northlane songs, but Aspire was fucking amazing, some of my favorite inspirational songs ever.
True.. but that is because Marcus is an amazing singer! You could say the same that Marcus couldn't attempt an amazing opener like dispossession.. They are completely different styled vocalists but they are both amazing but in different ways!
I've kinda stepped over Northlane for years based on one song I heard I didn't like. Wish I hadn't done that. Just now came across this and man, this is an EXTREMELY good song!
I think Adrian's writing was better. Marcus may have it on him in vox, but these lines seem stale in comparison to Adrian's structure. He had a gift! Still, enjoying the new NL 👍🏼
evanpotter Yeah the lyrical structuring on Node is kinda bothering me a bit. Might be that I was just used to Adrian's writing. But adrian sure had a gift for it like you said
I3ULL3T96 The lyrics on this album are actually pretty well written in terms of writing. He uses more literary techniques that adrian didn't use, such as alliteration, especially in this song. Although, I feel it does fall short when compared to Adrian's lyrics because of the topics he chose. Adrian wrote so much more personally and put more emotion into it. He created images with his lyrics. The lyrics on this album just seem like a lot of propaganda. With common themes like "save earth" "the environment is dying" "social media is equally good and bad", and it gets old. We want to relate with the lyrics, not get preached at with social propaganda.
Honestly. There are a lot of things about this band that I still love. But for me, its mostly my love for how they can evolve and adapt instrumentally. I've listened to enough of this album to solidify my opinion. I just don't enjoy Marcus. To each their own. Good bye Northlane. Thank you for everything, stay happy.
"We're not defined by a blueprint if we re-write the plan.
So will you paint paradise with the stroke of an artist's hand."
I get chills everytime I hear this song end.
The lane "The great unknown, The greater sacrifice grants the greatest gift in life" is also stunning , very awesome band
those cleans are the voice of angels .. damn marcus killed it
Javier Nieves to be honest the band killed it .. props
Javier Nieves I love adrian but he couldnt pull a song like this off
This is the most awakened band I ever heard. I've never heard music that's meant so much to me. From the lyrics, to even the music videos are magnificently created. I love what they stand for. I'm so glad to see someone use their talent to change the world for the better.
So true!
Gotta say this album turned much better than I expected. I love how they're not conforming to the try-hard metal elitists who complain that this "isn't heavy enough". Preach
Charlie's Drum Corner lol dumbest shit Ive ever heard.
Your true colors are showing.
Prenner111 Look there's the fuccboi that's crying that the album doesn't sound like a mish mosh of generic djent.
Charlie's Drum Corner in other words they've matured lol.
Wow Marcus is one of the best clean singer in this genre
Now that I listened to the all thing, I've got to say that Node is a great album, my favourite from Northlane so far!
I love the direction they took, it's a lot more personal than the first two albums and you can't deny it!

Matteo B This is the most generic album they have released. Dunno what the fuck you've been listening to,
Discoveries and Singularity are sick.
thecrosswordable If you can find me something else that sounds like this I'd greatly appreciate it.
Song literally brings tears to my eyes by the end. Listen and absorb the lyrics. Feel the power of the instrumentals. Incredible song.
One of those songs that gave me chills in the first 10 seconds, bass line is sick
Ronan compleatly ...so corrosive ..just to blow in a unexpected way... briliant :D
One of the best Northlane songs ever. The atmosphere the vocals create during the chorus is amazing.
Best song on the album.
Steven Lavigne This song, and Soma. The beginning and end of the cd are like tits and ass
Agreed
Steven Lavigne Fully agree
Meh nah ohm weightless and soma are the best songs on the album because they build up really nicely throughout the song and keep it interesting where I feel like this song just stagnates
Brendon stacey
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder man
This is how you end an album.
Best song on the album IMO.
jimmygee5 i agree
The drumming in all the songs is amazing also the lycris which makes the album very unexpected like many thought after the singer was changed.
best song on the album - hope they play it live
this album really really takes me to another world... amazing...just amazing. love it
The feels at the end. I can't be alone in this!!!
Your not dude. Insane brings you to another place.
We're not defined by a blueprint if we re-write the plans
So will you paint paradise with the stroke of an artist's hand
I swear, this album is perfect for late night walks/drives. Just listen and reflect on life.
3 years later. No band has moved me like this one. 😓
I've been waiting for northlane to release a massive really long final track for so long, and not only did they do it but it's one of the best songs i've ever heard, it's been a long time since i've loved a song this much
The ending of this song is amazing..
That outro though.... Bad ass!

In hearts wake is garbage the were good when divination came out I even seen them 4 times on that album cycle but earthwalker is an embarrassment in comparison
there's an entire revolution ready to be had at the lyrics of mesmer and node
Here's my review:
When I'm in the gym, I'm going to listen to Singularity.
For everything else, there is Node.
Conspiracy Cat Is that a review or a note to self?
BReeZboii A little bit of both.
+Conspiracy Cat I don't know hey, Discoveries also goes hard :P
Brad Kadou That it do, but Singularity was the album that really got me into them. For some reason I passed over them when I first heard Discoveries. Obviously, it was a mistake.
havoren Nah brah. I just like to deadlift to Scarab.
Definitely my favorite album from them so far.. such great drumming as well
This is so much better than their first 2 albums
best album ever
I honestly can't choose between Node and Singularity, but fortunately I don't even have to
What about node and discoveries?
Without doubt the best song on the album
I have been so excited for this album stream :o
***** No, they didn't :) I'll probably listen to this album 50 times before I go to sleep.
Animate and Node are definitely mah favess
The narrow road is all I know
No map to guide us
No compass beside us
The narrow road
The great unknown
The greater sacrifice grants the greatest gift in life
No more assembly lines of aspirations connecting carbon copy clones
Every artifact is marching like commodities of flesh and bone
The consistency of our censored thoughts
Tread a static course
Ordinary people: your outlook is lethal
Chiseling away imperfections
Until rough edges are same and smooth
The tools have now become too blunt
To break any of the rules
Post-modern minds bleached blank and clean
Drawing pixelated lines
In duller shades that my eyes have ever seen
The narrow road is all I know
No map to guide us
No compass beside us
The narrow road
The great unknown
The grater sacrifice grants the greatest gift in life
No more assembly lines of aspirations connecting carbon copy clones
Every artifact is marching like commodities of flesh and bone
Post-modern minds bleached blank and clean
Drawing pixelated lines
In duller shades that my eyes have ever seen
We're not defined by a blueprint if we re-write the plans

Best Song on the Album, beautiful chorus
The first thing that I think of when I listen to this song is that old 90 's song

Pretty damn nostalgic

First song I've heard, loved all their work since...perfect mix of screams n cleans....serene
1:14 "The consistent tear bart simpsons thoughts, tread out static chords"
lmao 😂
this one is the best !!!
I very much believe that as a fan, an appreciator of artist's works, I listen to a band not because they make music that I like, but because they make music that they themselves like, and I do. Thank goodness youtube is a thing. it makes it so much easier to find artists you like and know your music tastes.
So I used to pretty much dislike this album because of how different it is from what got me into them (Singularity). But I never give up that quick, I always see what bands are doing new. wow and marc morin has a point a few northlane songs while taking transit has just like punched me in the face with emotions. Northlane's just getting better
Can't people just enjoy the music and not complain that it's gotten "softer"?
Definitely purchasing. It has a new sound that grew on me after listening a few times.
This song really moves me, stuck on repeat 😬
this is amazing..
Aayy I'm warming to Marcus. This album is killer!
Best song on the album
This song is a fucking masterpiece.
The ending is the best part of the entire album.
Best song on the album
The clean guitar part in the middle of the song reminds me a bit of "Darling" by Casey.
wow, this album is epic.
Only one thing to say.....
ORDINARY PEOPLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!! (*Headbangs until eventually elevates into the singularity*)
Best song hands down !!! My bonar approves
This song is so sick
You guys have by far excelled perfection!!
My first time listening to Northlane- I like it!
I've never been a big Northlane listener, but this record is really solid.
masterpiece
Incredible
Every song is written with a very deep emotion. Feel it or leave it.
This is my FAVORITE song of the album, anyone else agrees? :)
Nice outro
I'm just going to say it:
Discoveries > Node > Singularity
Loving this album!
Resembles Aspire so much, best song on the album imo
Such a great album. But Singularity is still my favorite album by them.
Incredible closer. Sorry but Adrian could never even attempt something like this.
I think if they rerecorded Dispossession with Marcus it would sound great. Not the same, no but still good. Adrian couldn't do this song flat out.
You are stupid.
***** Marcus did disposession live. Sounded like shit. Two different style vocalists.
IVE BEEN SEARCHING FOR THIS FUCKING SONG FOR AGES
Recuerdos con este tema musical que me llevan a mi adolescencia
Hooked second listen , this make me happy.
I've kinda stepped over Northlane for years based on one song I heard I didn't like. Wish I hadn't done that. Just now came across this and man, this is an EXTREMELY good song!
Still my favourite Northlane song and my favourite album
Now this is how you end an Album!
Melhor música do álbum!

Still, enjoying the new NL 👍🏼
evanpotter its one of the guitarists who did the writing this time. it was mentioned in one of the node teasers about writing.
Alex Carpentier Josh

Nice, nice, nice... very niiiiice!!!!!!
True inspirations guys! Very much enjoy this track 🌮🙏
Everyone beating on either Marcus or Adrian. I like them both, anyone else.
This song brings to mind that Jesus was not afraid of himself, but what he may truely do to those that forsake his commandments
boqer123 fucking legend.
haha saw that
"NOW LET'S FUCK"
great song! :D
new favorite holy poop
I need the album from the vid with the pictures 😳
27 people are 01:38
wow this is really good. i could have sworn i heard them before and didn't like them
Easily the best song on the album!
God how this is growing on me
All of their songs great i love it tho
La mejor
Thoughtful and well presented analysis by Chuck's d.c. Inclined to agree!
throughout the album i really missed adrians lows. that is all
There was a layered low on Rot, man.
tremendooo
Best song on the album imo although it is hard to pick.
Listened to every song on Node. I like it, Marcus is good, and I DON'T mind new NL but none of the songs are really memorable as this one.
Honestly. There are a lot of things about this band that I still love. But for me, its mostly my love for how they can evolve and adapt instrumentally.
