Probably the best build I've seen on this style of hive. Practical, functional, and doesn't require the craziest of tools. I appreciate you making this video!
AWESOME! I would have taken snips and rounded the corners. Also would have recessed the bottom or used screws instead of brads. I will do one like this but may arch/dome the top. I didn't see any entrances made.
Been a keeper for over 10 years and CAN'T believe how much eqpt has increased in price! I also have a sawmill now. Holy cow am I going to build one or two of those!! Just need a day stretcher to find the time to build one. Still trying to figure that one out. That'll be on the market just after they invent a board stretcher. 2x lumber with paint should last dang near forever with paint. Just replace the legs if they rot with ground contact.
Great video with interesting design variations on a common theme. I will follow your channel and look forward to hearing how your hive works in practice, pros & cons . It would seem many bee keepers are searching for the holy grail of horizon hives. Cheers from 🇦🇺
You have had time to use it this year. I hope it worked well for you. I had a question that I am asking everyone who is building these. My question is, how do you clean the bottom board?
The big test won’t happen until spring here. Once the hive makes it through the winter. We will have losses all winter long, and it will need to be cleaned out. My plan right now is to shift frames over to one side and then just vacuum out or use a dustpan to to pull out debris.

Beautiful work!
Thank you very much!
Very nice design, I am getting ready to build my own and will rely on your design. Saved to my library for future reference.
That’s awesome.

Everything is getting very expensive

I'd like to see you build a Layens hive.
I will consider it
@@honeydewacres2371 How about with measurements
I am planning another build video this fall/winter with measurements
Traduire en Francais.Mercie
Do you have the dimensions of the box?
Just to say, why not drill the holes before you screw them together and you will never split the wood.
Absolutely,I actually thought of that same thing,we were just being lazy
do you have the dementions and measurements for this build or a site where you got them.
I do not.
What dimension frames does this fit?
Standard deep frames
Forgive me... im new to this. I'm not sure what the standard is
9-1/8″ x 19″ x 1-3/8
Where are you located ? Can i order a ready made hive like that from you?
Northwest Wisconsin. We could make one for sale but it would need to be pickup only, no shipping.
Where in the world are you guys located?
West Wisconsin over by the twin city’s.
For that matter what we're the dimensions of each cut? Lol
We will be doing another build this fall/winter and I’ll put in more details.
förborra innan ni sätter i skruvar.
супер!!!!
Thanks
