  • My thanks to romelovesdan for providing me the DVD files used for this project. I've enhanced the broadcast recording of the 1973 Week 6 Raiders at Broncos Monday Night Football game. The source recording for this game was in stellar shape to begin with. I ran it through Topaz to upscale, denoise, sharpen and double the framerate, then used Da Vinci Resolve to brighten it a bit and make the color really pop. See before/after shots here -- imgbox.com/g/d2haGdYadQ

      Sir, this is an absolutely amazing job! This is incredible. I have for so long wanted to see games from the 70's in HD, but I understand this can't be an easy task. I was born in 1967 so games this early if I saw them, I was too little or had no attention span for 3 hours of football. This gave me a chance to watch some of the legendary players, on some of the most iconic shows. Monday Night Football was NEVER better than in the 70's! Thank you so much for this!

      @@luthstarNot sped up at all. I think it's the fact that the video was so clear for its age, then I enhanced it. Probably looks faster to you because I doubled the framerate from 29.97 to 59.94, making the motion smoother.

    I find the production qualities of 1970s pro football so much more satisfying than today. The chatter between Don, Dan and Howard is almost like sitting in your family room passively listening to relatives talking in the kitchen. Even the commercials were better. We've come long way but in many ways we've gone backwards since then, I feel.

You whine about being "forced", well nowadays these pathetic agendas, ridiculous political agendas, social justice garbage is forced into movies, television shows, commercials, and every facet of life. It's amazing how people think that they know what's best for you whether you want it or not. If SJW's worried about THEIR LIVES and kept their noses out of everyone else's lives, maybe we'd have less idiocy. I'd gladly take the 70's over any of the last 10 years! Oh and "crime" is a heck of a lot worse now. Nowadays we have more violence, murders now seem to happen on a hourly basis now. Back in the 70's kids never had to worry about going school and having some lunatic(s) come in a start shooting the school up. Back then your religious beliefs weren't constantly belittled. It actually played a large part as being the impetus for my moving to Colorado (Longmont) a little less than a yr. later. There is not a millionaire prima donna in the whole bunch. The sportsmanship displayed is not evident in today's circus. A better class of players, a better class of game. Those were the days.

    Back in the day, you hardly ever saw the Broncos on television. They were far and away the worst team in the 10 year history of the AFL, winning only 30 games in 10 years. Growing up in Ohio, the only time I ever saw them was when they played the Browns or Bengals. One other factor that kept them off television on Sunday afternoon was their start time for home games, which was 12 noon local time, but 2:00 in the eastern time zone. With all the rest of the games starting at 1:00 eastern time, the 2:00 start was disruptive to the days schedule if the network wanted to show the games starting at 4:00 in its entirety. It should be noted the Colts also were notorious for 2:00 home starts in the east. In the mid 1970's the NFL made everybody get on the same page and one o'clock and 4 o'clock eastern time starts a rule for all teams. This was their first Monday Night game and 1973 would be their first winning season (7-5-2) as they finished in a 2nd place tie with the Chiefs in the AFC West. Respect didn't come until 4 years later when the Broncos went 12-2 and advanced to Super Bowl XII.

    • @deputay
      @deputay 11 місяців тому +2

      No, Baltimore was still doing 2:00PM starts up to their final season in town. If a network wanted to show them to a larger audience, they'd move their home games to 4PM eastern. Moreover, there would be random central time zone games that started at 2PM eastern up through the 1981 season. (For example, the Bears had 2 games start at 1PM central that season)
