Completely agree. Wasn't old enough to watch these game live, i was for the broncos championship years with elway and Davis, and I always wanted to see how good early John elway was. A lot of people say elway carried the teams he was on, but this team was LOADED talent wise. Thank you sir
Watched this game with my grandpa in his living room in Wheat Ridge, CO. So much fun back then with the Broncos. Except for them darn Super Bowls back then. Another masterpiece Dave.
I've enhanced the 1984 Week 16 Broncos at Seahawks game. This recording was in pretty nice shape, but was a bit dark and drab. Did the usual enhancement (upscale, compression reversion, framerate doubling, color saturation) and it looks pretty good now. You can see before/after shots here -- imgbox.com/g/s352qneScO. Program includes 20 minutes of 'The Broncos Scouting Report' pregame from KCNC Denver. My thanks to Fort Knox and his Seahawks UA-cam channel -- www.youtube.com/@fortknox4740/videos -- for providing the DVD files for this project.
King Dome was a bit dark and drab. I hated when Denver went there to play. Unfortunately the Broncos would lose to Pittsburgh at home in the divisional round.
@@Kjack2023 I've done a number of Seahawk dome games and it's hit or miss on the color quality. Sometimes I'm able to make the color pop pretty well. Other times, like this one, I really have to push the saturation far in order to get some decent color. I'm thinking it's because the low-light environment must have played hell with the TV cameras of the day.
Nice job as always, Dave! It's interesting to see you say the video was dark and drab. I always thought the Kingdome in Seattle looked very dark and very drab on television!
Dave, you got some great looking games! I'm a collector myself and have a ton of games, just not uploaded online. This particular game if my memory is correct..... I was 11 years old and at our neighbors house at a party. They just got a brand new projection TV and everyone was in awe! 😆 Great stuff!
@@DeplorableJaredBrodersen Probably because of the Houston Texans joining the NFL and AFC in 2002 and the realigning of the divisions. That made the conferences disproportionate. So, geographically, it made sense to have the Seahawks join the NFC West which only had 3 teams at the time.
Love the Largent feature on NFL '84! I once recorded this pre-game & then erased it to make room for playoff coverage. I only kept the rockin' NFL '84 intro & it proved to be a constant reminder that I lost the Largent interview/highlight package w/Ahmad Rashad! Thank you Dave & please keep this video & all your 1983-84 Seahawks content on UA-cam forever!
I don't think knee surgery was as good as it is today. I wonder if this knee injury ended his career. "The most immediate concern is to find a kickoff return man. Dixon, probably the best kickoff returner the Seahawks have ever had, is out for the duration of the playoffs after undergoing knee surgery. He went down Saturday without being hit on a return that looked like it might go all the way."
Interesting to see a crowd reaction of *The Wave* in this telecast that you don't see or hear about at ball games anymore. I've attended MLB games in the 1980s where *The Wave* was done by the attendees in the stadium. I haven't attended a pro ball game in decades, and I don't see/hear about it on televised games. Was *The Wave* a fad that faded away in the 1990s?
This was for the NFC West championship; each team stood 12-3 coming into the game, which was played on a Saturday. The Broncos' victory gave them the divisional championship. The Raiders finished a high wild-card third to underscore the strength of the division.

Baltimore Ravens own the D.C. area.
This is an interesting game. These two teams met in Super Bowl XLVIII. Of course, that was after Seattle switched conferences in 2002. However, they were division rivals before that.
A Viking fan who for some reason fell in love with the Broncos in this era. My AFC team of sorts. What game would look awesome from Dave would be the MNF game from this season in the blizzard against Green Bay. First 2 plays from scrimmage resulted in fumble returns for TDs for the Broncos. By the way, a serious question for the Broncos fans from this era. At Mile High Stadium, what was the white paper that was almost always on the field? Was it simply confetti?
The only other 84 Bronco game that I currently have is the Steeler playoff. It's in my queue (along with over 300 other games) to enhance at some point.
Possibly at some point. I've seen MUCH worse in terms of quality. The big problem with that one is the insane amount of flicker that is present in the picture. Unfortunately I only have the free version of Da Vinci Resolve. If I had the Studio version I could actually address that problem.
No, not monetized. Even if I wanted to, which I don't, I wouldn't be able to anyways because most of the videos I post have copyrighted material which is prohibited from being monetized.
@@gridironthrowback2834 I almost always use the same settings for Topaz each time and then the program processes for roughly 8 or 9 hour for a 2-3 hour game (speed of course depends on your system). That is the upscaling, compression reversion, sharpening, and framerate doubling part of the process. I then bring Topaz' result into Da Vinci Resolve and that is mostly manual - edits, contrast adjustment, and color grading. There is an auto balance feature, but I almost always have to tweak the color and contrast manually to try to get just the right look. Depending on the source quality, I could get the color to look right in 15 minutes, other times I'm laboring over it for hours.
I miss the Kingdome for sentimental reasons. And the climate was controlled at the Dome, unlike our current outdoor stadium. A bit of a novelty that way but watched Steve Largent there so it was aces! The implosion was due but the history of the stadium & spectacular games will always resonate!
Dave Volsky for President..... Whoever you are, you have no idea how therapeutic this is for me. The commercials are effing gold

Topaz Video AI to enhance the picture, Da Vinci Resolve to edit and to adjust contrast and color.
