- After moving some gear around my shop my normal results on my 1x30s changed. This helped me understand the importance of a few factors I had not considered before. Changing a few small things can affect your results. My new favorite shop tables for Laser and Tools see link below. WORKPRO 48” Height Adjustable Work Table amzn.to/4b0uv0Z
Lots of great shop lighting options today. I like linkable lights with pull cords. So I can turn individual ones on and off. Check out the may options available amzn.to/44pOsfp
Adjustable Shop Spot lights are another great tool great. Many are cordless amzn.to/4aXV7Qi

Thanks for all you share.
One more tip... Drop the lighting down to increase lumen levels on your work. Light falls off by the square. If you can lower the light fixture by 12" to 15" it will often double light intensity at your work surface from the same light. Quality of light ( Spectral Output ) may also yield more visual detail. I have studied light & human visual capacity for many years. If you have question I will do my best to answer.
Pretty dang surprised that a small change like that has an effect. I have a few locations with different heights that I use. Never considered that it might be a factor in my varied results. Off to do some testing, thank you good sir.
Totally makes sense. I've experienced the lighting challenge but not the height change . Thanks for sharing your experience. I've also been eyeing the same adjustable bench at the local home depot. Almost bought it a few times because it just makes alot of sense that can have an effect on one's consistency.
Thank you for sharing that tip. I will definitely keep it in mind when sharpening.🙏🏼 Hey A tutorial on thinning knives on the1x30 would be great too.
Great suggestion!
+1 for a thinning specific video on 1x30's, I'd love to see that
When going for precision, every fraction of every mm matters. With blade sharpening as with firearms accuracy. When you are splitting hairs, you must place every part of the equation in the same order every time. You have given good advice. Thanks for sharing.
👍👍👏👏🇺🇲
agree100 %
this is interesting. i sharpen in my shop, at farmer's markets and out of the back of a truck. my height and lighting is not consistent at all. i just feel for burr before i move on to next step.
I found that bad lighting rally effects my ability to spell! 😝
Unfortunately I’m dyslexic and spelling has always been a challenge for me. Pretty much my entire life so if you’re expecting perfect grammar and spelling from this cowboy you’re in for a rough ride. You may want to bail now, but thanks I’ll make the correction, but I regularly make a mess of the English language….You have been warned 😆
@@ALXSHARPENhaving a bit of humor might boost your subscriber count too…. So I will take your advice adios!
@@judd_s5643 I think my response showed that I do have a sense of humor about it. I think it's funny that a guy with 2 total subscribers has advice for me on getting more, but clearly the one with no sense of humor is you. We won't miss you as you clearly can't handle someone responding back to your criticism.
