Reviewing my lasers for those considering their first laser purchase .Up first Laser Pecker 4

My first laser was the Laser Pecker 4 it's a great laser and has worked very well for my business. I got mine from the ground up as it came from a crowdfunding site. I knew it was going to have some quirks that would get worked out over time. Now you see it for sale on places like Amazon and it runs very well. I think some people forget that crowdfunding projects always have some risk and some ...

    Finally. I been a boy scout, in the military, a life time of working with tools and now retired for the past 7 years and after watching your video I finally get it. I took the leap and sharpened one of the wife's knives and she was impressed. Huge points in my bucket. Thank you for your excellent video. Is that the YIXING 1x30 belt sander you were using? Looks pretty sturdy and now that I have a little confidence I'm ready to invest in a proper tool. Thanks again, job well done!

    Paul, with all these add ons you need for various knife sizes the machine gets quite expensive. If they wanted they could design the bar so it is suitable for all knife sizes, without the expense of add on bits. People are doing it tough already.

      @ALXSHARPEN 3 дні тому

      I agree fortunately many are nice to have but not necessary for small blades it’s kind of necessary depending on the angle for the most part it hits a big range of knives with the parts it comes with I would definitely say to anyone struggling and starting a business only get what you need and add as your start to make money

      I have also found you kind of need 20 WATT or higher Xtool 40W does them real well and so does my 22W Creality Falcon 2 but my Laser Pecker 4 since it has no air assist and is only 10 Watt the ash builds up and they don't come out great even with multiple passes.

    some feedback: think about using some stabilization on handheld shots ;) (you could try free software gyroflow if your cam doesnt support stabilization) Riser looks like a musthave accessory. thought about maybe printing out some riser columns but then you loose a lot of the clever design features...

    Good tips, i discovered this myself after almost 2 decades 😅, when you are doing the final bevel it is much better to just sharpen one side at a time, not alternating to the other side, wait for the burr to appear before doing the other side of the bevel, spend the same amount of time to both sides, then you can alternate after that using your finest grit, you can purchase cheap usb microscope now, you can easily observe the edge if it is correctly sharpened

      Yes I am going edge leading if your HF is not converted to variable speed it will be very hard to control. Non converted 1x30 are running around 3300 to 3500 RPM I am running between 1500 and 2000 it make a big difference in control and heat build up

      I plan to do the S1 40 Watt review on Sunday and the Creality Falcon II after I did put a deposit on the New XTool F1 Ultra I am hoping to maybe get one from them to review at some point but if not I’m giving it serous consideration for my business because it may be the perfect machine for me since I do lots of knife engravings. XTool is pretty good about giving units to creators to review but so far I have only seen 3 people get one and those creators all have 25k or more followers. I have agreed to review an S1 20 watt for them. It has not arrived yet so I will probably have to wait till that’s done to have a shot at the F1 Ultimate but it’s a very exciting time in laser word and I do appreciate that many laser companies do offer me review units. So keeping my fingers crossed but until that’s out my current crew of lasers are serving me well but have affordable Fiber laser options on the horizon is a very cool possibility. Not that it’s inexpensive but when I started looking at the just 5 years ago you were spending no less than $7000 so we are looking at less than half not cheap but at least affordable for most small businesses.

    great video, I really like the silicon wrap working as a mold. One bit of advice on mixing colors, you can add the compliment to your base to darken the mix. I thought you did a great job on your color match, but adding a very small touch of yellow (compliment) to the purple base would have darken the mix.

    • @ALXSHARPEN

    Thanks so much for this video. I was going to get a £89 microscope, but after seeing this, and on the back of your advice, I've decided to go for the Tomlov DM201 (is this the model of yours?) I clicked on your link, but it took me to the US Amazon site, and I live in the UK. I'm slightly confused however as some people (like yourself) have been saying it's 25mp while others are advertising it as 16mp, either way, I would imagine to the naked eye the difference is negligible.

    • @ALXSHARPEN
      @ALXSHARPEN 8 днів тому

      They come out with updated models a lot but mine is the 201 but I would not be surprised if what you may have in the UK may be a little different. I recently had some offers to review some new ones but have not accepted because for what I do they need to have certain features and the two offers didn't have what's important for knife sharpening IMO one being adjustable LED inside the lens and the ability to focus right up against the bottom of the scope.

    Totally makes sense. I've experienced the lighting challenge but not the height change . Thanks for sharing your experience. I've also been eyeing the same adjustable bench at the local home depot. Almost bought it a few times because it just makes alot of sense that can have an effect on one's consistency.

    Thanks for all you share. One more tip... Drop the lighting down to increase lumen levels on your work. Light falls off by the square. If you can lower the light fixture by 12" to 15" it will often double light intensity at your work surface from the same light. Quality of light ( Spectral Output ) may also yield more visual detail. I have studied light & human visual capacity for many years. If you have question I will do my best to answer.

    I found that bad lighting rally effects my ability to spell! 😝

      Unfortunately I’m dyslexic and spelling has always been a challenge for me. Pretty much my entire life so if you’re expecting perfect grammar and spelling from this cowboy you’re in for a rough ride. You may want to bail now, but thanks I’ll make the correction, but I regularly make a mess of the English language….You have been warned 😆

      @@judd_s5643 I think my response showed that I do have a sense of humor about it. I think it's funny that a guy with 2 total subscribers has advice for me on getting more, but clearly the one with no sense of humor is you. We won't miss you as you clearly can't handle someone responding back to your criticism.

    Are you sure about these settings? Power of 1 and depth of 1 at 1064 with 4K was barely visible. Going by LaserPecker’s recommendation of 30/31 at 4K worked good. Also 8K was not an option in app
