I seem to recall that Kazuma's little quips of "Yes, I'm Kazuma" were entirely improv by his VA and not planned to be there at all, but it was so funny they just turned it into a running gag. I may be wrong on that, but either way, it's hilarious so what does it matter lol
It started as a VA gag.
Not just his catchphrase, but the VA for Kazuma would improv a lot of lines, and the director liked it so much it became part of the humor of the show.

I fucking love background chatter of that variety
I seriously love Konosuba because it just feels like the author was fully willing to write the characters in a way you really don't see that often. Other series will maybe have one or two characters act so out of the pale, but here it's practically the whole cast.
As for the anime specifically, you can just feel how much fun everyone had making it, from the animation itself to the voice acting.

i actually saw a lot of anime where the full cast of characters are great, just like Konosuba, and all those anime are in my favourite anime list.
i also saw one anime that has 99% unlikable characters and surprise surprise it's one of the few anime i hate
Yup, even the irrelevant characters are memeable and good in some way (except eris, but I do like the memes)
What other anime shows lack is the understanding of what makes the characters interesting and unique
Sometimes, they just roll the wheel and get a random personality and design for a character. So the result is that they become a try hard
I don't wanna name names here because I don't think it deserves the hate but I dropped Princess Connect midway because I just don't see anything interesting about the characters even though they aren't exactly the most generic characters ever, something about it feels generic and basic af

Fun fact, the author of Konosuba and the author of Re:Zero are friends, and they've written some crossovers.
16:14 The language used on those posters actually translates back into Japanese. You could, if you wanted to, learn the Konosuba language. The same goes for the language used in Re:zero.

You know in one episode of Re: Zero in season one. The episode where they have the snow party you'll see early in the episode around minute 16 I think a brief picture of the Konosuba gang. Grant it it doesn't show their faces buts its painfully obvious it's them.

By crossovers I was referring to short stories they wrote about Rem being isekai'd to the konosuba world.

The thing I really appreciate about this show is they never forget Kazutrash, the Pervert of Axel, is the kind of person who will die to save someone else without thinking about it

Konosuba is really a perfect comedy! I can't stop laughing at the scenes even today.
Personally I cringe in enjoyment. It just goes all out and gives no apologies and it's amazing. But what was episode eleven of season one. Was that a dream

Ah yes point out everything great about this masterpiece, it's gonna be long one. EDIT: I love KonoSuba an illegal amount of level as well...as for why, basically because it just does comedy, good characters and even fights so RIGHT!
17:28 the cool thing there is Kazuma's voice actor ad-libbed that "Hai Kazuma desu", and they loved it so much they kept it as a running gag!
And I'm so glad he did, it's one of my favorite parts of the whole show!
Plus it seems to me like it's kind of a counter to your "saying someone's name instead of speaking normally cliche" sin. 🤣
Also, you clearly watched a different subbed version than I did, some of the different translations are a little... disorienting. 😳

Konosuba is one of those shows that got me back into anime. I stopped watching shows for a while because "oh you watch anime? That's all nerd stuff!". It will always have a special place in my heart because of that. Every single episode had me in tears multiple times
Be it anime, manga or light novel, the jokes always land and there is barely a joke that gets stale. All of that combined with great personalities, actual character development and great world building makes it one of the best comedy series when it comes to humor and subverting tropes. The whole KonoSuba series holds a very dear place in my hart and mind.
I will agree with everything you say, but Re:Zero has better character development and world building
One of my favorite anime of all time. Everything about it is solid gold and showcases the sheer love and effort put into it by the cast and animators both!

When I first saw it, I took Aqua's words at face value... but I have to say that upon re-watch I couldn't help but wonder if Aqua just made up all the stuff in the hospital to mess with Kazuma. I know that the tractor stuff was real and the girl even got a broken arm from Kazuma's attempt to rescure her, but beyond that? I wouldn't put it past Aqua to make up such a lie for her own amusement.
I also love how even the horse of the headless horseman is headless too. ^^
God i might be a little obsessed with this anime
Ive already finished the light novel multiple times, read each spin off and have been following anything konosuba related on basically every social media platform i use
And megumin has been my waifu for a year now and i dont think it'll be changing anytime soon

Is there actually a season 3 coming out, is it another movie, or did the show get canceled?
@@samuelevans738 There is _something_ coming soon. We just aren't sure what. The Crimson Demon arc worked well for a movie giving its spectacle and its good feature-length (granted, some things were cut). But I imagine Volumes 6 and 7 will be used for Season 3.
I would like to point out Kazuma is able to shovel dirt, break rocks and carry construction materials all day so he is not exactly weak but Megumin is just stronger
manual labor is hard work after all

The fact they can go from serious to comedy back to serious over and over seamlessly is impressive and sets it apart imo.

The best thing about Konosuba is that you can identify the main cast differently if you watch either the dub or the sub, and yet, is still accurate to the characters
For example:
Sub Darkness: A knight with masochistic tendencies.
Dub Darkness: A masochist who happens to be a knight.
I love how much effort you put in this videos. Sometimes it is something to laugh and then it is something that really is great made from the anime. Also, you always get everything out of every scene. I am impressed.

Is the light novel just as funny as the anime?
@@chadcj1 ho it is, it's just that the anime adds some scenes and takes away others. Also, the light novel goes more in depth in explaining some scenes that the anime just goes through. Bit most importantly, the lightnovel has a lot more content, there are 17 lightnovels and the anime adapts up to the 5th one

This szene is even more hilarious when you know Aquas attacks have all the water attribute and frogs are immune against water
This anime's va is the driving factor for me in this anime and ofc the art, facial expression and animation is top tier
The fact that Megumin's first reason to join Kazuma was to get food and overall join a good party and still refused to join the other isekai guy who's clearly richer and stronger proves that she is indeed best 😂
Also proves how shady the rich guy is.
Konosuba was the first Isekai I watched and it's my main reason for Isekai being my favorite anime genre
I don't think I realized it until watching this breakdown, but Megumin and Darkness playing chess is a hint at Darkness' status as chess was a game of kings. Even though Megumin is smarter and should win, she isn't as well versed in the game was Darkness b/c Darkness grew up an aristocrat, and Megumin was poor. Your vid just turned me onto ALL the foreshadowing that happens in this anime, it's EVERYWHERE. They really thought this entire thing through.
How much do I love this anime? I had basically stopped watching anime until I saw this, it led me into Demon Slayer, and between the 2 now that I'm back into it, I'm struggling to find anything that really captures my attention long enough to finish even a full season.
Konosuba was The First Anime I watched. And because of that I didn’t recognize how many things this anime does different, than so many other anime. And just thought things like two different conversations happening at the same time would be completely normal.
(Small "Combatants will be Dispatched" Spoilers) One of my favorite things is that this and Combatants will be Dispatched are made by the same creator and take place in the same universe. Idk if anyone noticed but it CWBD, toward the end of the season, the crew builds a spider looking machine called Destroyer, the mobile fortress. And when I watched I thought it was from Konosuba but never verified, watching this now I know that Konosuba occurs in the same universe as CWBD. As further proof the Kisaragi Corporation say that every evil invention needs a self-destruct function, which explains the plot twist in Konosuba. This is fucking gigabrain writing and I love it very much.

I forgot how good that scene in episode 10 was! There are some anime movies that can't pull off a scene like that.
Konosuba was my first anime and still the goat in my heart! Have watched it over 15 times and it never gets old! It was also the first LN series I read and the first anime movie I went to see in theaters. I have been watching anime for 3 years now and that path all began because of konosuba. It is such an integral and influential part of my life that I can honestly say discovering it was a life changing experience. I have begun trying to write my own comedy series inspired by Konosuba and Gintama and all the rest of the world's funniest anime, that is how much I love it!

Konosuba - Most rewatchable anime hands down. Most memorable characters, hands down. Most relatable protagonist (s) and generally amazing.
O, and the humour and fanservice is absolutely 100/10

after Megumin casts EXPLOSION for the first time in the show, as she lies limp on the grass - her hat, an inanimate object, is maliciously laughing at her.
it's really subtle, but equally awesome.

I love it because it always manages to zero in on tropes that other anime try so hard to avoid.
No beating around the bush, no epic stories about why and how.
Simple, to the point and effective.
Any other anime would've had a "reason" for not encountering many enemies. Usually because they're held at bay by some OP army.

Reason i love this anime
It does things that other anime dont (kinda reminds me of nichijou which you should cover btw) and the comedy is on Point
This is the one anime I have found so far that I love both the sub and dub

I didn’t know what I was expecting with this show but it’s surprisingly beautiful in a lot of ways
Konosuba just makes me think of the British sitcom Red Dwarf, especially in terms of the relationships between the 4 main characters: On the surface they don't seem to like each other that much, but deep down they do care, and when they work together they do quite well for themselves.
I seriously watched your others konosuba videos yesterday so i'm a happy boy now :D

How much I love this anime?
Sweet mother of god, I watched it last year, then read the entirety of the *17 books* over the course of quarantine, and I kid you not without it I would've died of boredom. This series kept my spirits up high and is still to this day my favorite. Amen brother.
Even though I must admit most of my love for the series comes from the movie and the aforementioned books.

This is such a funny comedy anime. The gags are perfectly timed, the animation's goofiness matches up with the tone(think like Ren & Stimpy), and it's such a great parody of Isekai and D&D tropes.

i would like to point out something i just noticed, the black part of Megumin's winter outfit is like i one piece leotard with no open hole with zippers, strings, or buttons. so my only conclusion is that each time she has to wear it she has to stretch the neck hole wide enough to pull the entire suite on. which is impressive in itself when you realize that it's long sleeved with a pants like bottom... i may be overthinking, but upon further research into multiple shot's with her in that outfit, this is the only answer i could come to.

It was a blessing to REad the Konosuba LN after watching the anime, as I could imagine the characters talking much easier and I already had an amazing connection with them... Literally reading Konosuba was one of the best times in my life, and I usually don't like to read

I've probably rewatched konosuba more then any other anime to date, it's just so funny and laid-back.
There are currently recent talks for a third season of the show since fans have been demanding it for so long. I hope that works out for us.

I appreciate you pointing the detail of what the book says that Aqua shows to Kazuma
One thing you missed in episode 5 is that by setting up that there maybe many other people that have been reincarnated over the years subtlety explains why Aqua has a Cult. Who knows for how long or how many people reincarnated into that world only to become major heroes, even if they obviously didn't defeat the Demon king, with the absolute knowledge that Aqua is a God. Of course this would lead to a Cult that worships Aqua.
