Right now I’m currently broke down in the semi on the side of the road in Clayton Indiana. But hey at least I have a Ross the Oliver Man video to watch while the blazing hot sun is cooking me like a baked potato. So at least I have something going for me

HI ROSS on the John deere B the over flow might be stopped up I would take the carb off and take a part and clean it out W a air hose and make sure the float in the carb isn't stuck carbs don't like trash or water 💦 😊😊 OMG 8 27 2O23

Those little tractors were "Handier than a pocket on a shirt". Not really a "heavy work" unit, but just handy. Still waiting to hear the story on the old John Deere combine. Put many an hour on one of those machines. Also had a Allis Chalmers 90 AllCrop. Dad would take it and the WD45 into a field of foxtail and thistle come out with soybeans.

The old Ferguson sounds good. It's be interesting to see what you find out when you dig deeper.

The Ferguson 30s tended to get leaks of coolant in the oil. The Ferguson 35s were a huge improvement, fixed that engine problem and added live-pto. We had both a 30 and 35 on the farm and the 30 leaked/'repaired'/leaked so I never saw it run. The 35 had more hours of use on the farm than any other tractor. It's one of the ones I have after rebuilding the trans. We'd run the square baler with it after the Oliver 880 broke down.

Interesting! I don’t think he’s had much trouble with this one.

Keep up the good work! Not sure how you have enough time to turn out one a day but I appreciate it. Usually watch while I eat lunch. It would be nice to have an 880 update sometime soon.

I love those little tractors like that. I learned to drive a tractor on an 8N we called Mickey cause Grandpa thought the headlights looked like Mickey mouse ears haha.

Think you have a governor issue. The ferguson 30 are quick responses on throttle and it should play with that mower. It's on the front cover. If you have to keep pto on to keep it up means the top lid for the 3pt. needs rebuilt, if it goes down fairly quickly.

Yup. That’s exactly what it is. You’ll see that in the next installment

You keep from getting bored with brand variety!!! The little Fergy looks like she's runnin' bare. LOL I think the B Deere has ESP that your real love is Oliver green, but you seem to have the magical touch to get them all going.

  • @jvin248

I've replaced the governor on another Ferguson 35 I have, if the 30 is the same (mechanism looks like it) then you want to be super careful prying the aluminum governor cover off the engine as there are two dowel pins that like to stick and the prying breaks the covers. I knew enough to be careful there, being generous with the PB Blaster, but I've since seen a lot of destruction by other folks. So know where those pins are and carefully work them off. Setting up the governor linkages is not the most straightforward, there is a super helpful youtube channel 'Bundy Bears' and he shows how. Also I think 'Rachel' on that other tractor repair channel messes with a Ferguson governor.

Oh man, a little Fergie, they're just like the old Fords. Treat 'em right and take care of them, they'll run forever. Solid little workhorses they are.
Yea, governor issues, weak spring or the weights have slipped inside.
Check the float, as I said before, those old 2 lungers prefer to run and be ran.

Nice video Ross. Gotta love the family-oriented story line. I have a 1954 to35 with a sputtering issue, carb is clean. Gonna throw a new coil on it. Runs good till it gets hot. Other than that, it's a good little tractor. Well have fun. Know you will. Looks like Mr. b just likes the attention. Take care.

      @rosstheoliverman  Рік тому +1

Coil sounds like a good chance. Especially if it doesn’t act up until it gets hot. Thanks Keith!

No one can say you are not an expert on internationally made tractors. When Harry and Henry went at odds with each other It was supposedly just another attempt by Ford to steal someone else's designs as his own. Just like when he rescued Lincoln from the Leylands and broke his promises on the first day.
That PTO system and the scotch yoke pump that required the PTO to run and make the hydraulics work probably resulted in many gruesome deaths. The little village we lived it had a Ford 8N and it seemed that everyone thought they could use it. I got a call to rescue it one day. One council member was mowing with it and did not know about the mower pushing it. He came to a guy wire on a power pole and the tractor ran up the guy wire and was kind of hanging up on the guy wire sideways. I put an over-running PTO clutch on it. It also got a good key ignition switch and the key was held by the mayor.
Looking forward to your Fergie work.

The question is does it want to be fixed? My friends have a TO30 that I keep telling them doesnt like people. Its on its 3rd or 4th engine. The one I pulled out for them lost a bolt in the oil pump and spun all the berings, and I never did find the bolt in the oil pan.
