    Hello Lance! I'm in Ohio, USA and recently got a TE20 which has been converted to a solenoid start. Your excellent video on troubleshooting and refurbishing the original starter switch has given me the know how and confidence to tackle the job. Thanks very much and I love your playlist on the tea20.

    my old girl has a push button on the dash looks like it was disconnected years ago .I'm always carefull not to start it in gear. Been like this for 12 years since i brought it .thinking about selling it but the old girl is so handy with the 4 foot slasher , brought a zero turn a few years ago but i just like driving it around the farm for the looks i get from cars going past, sort of a fun thing to drive.

    When I got my T20 the Bakelite was cracked in two pieces and l was unable to repair it .I had to use your sparex replacement starter switch which looks like the original and works great ,sure beats the screwdriver trick.LOL 👍

    Hi Lance, Think I have watched your video on the starter switch about 3x. My starter was hit and miss and now won't start at all. After watching your video I took the switch off and it came off in 2 pieces. Somebody had glued it together at some point in the past. Also one contact point was badly corroded and burned as was the little round disc that pushes up from below. Tried ordering a new one from queenslandtractorspares but you don't appear to ship overseas. So I have ordered one from the UK. It comes with the plate that bolts onto the chassis. Hopefully it will work on my 1951 TEA-20 Ferguson that I just bought. Cheers, Midge

      No we dont ship overseas due to the expensive freight now a days. It has gotten a bit out of hand since covid.

    When I bought my TE-20 the switch was bypassed with a push-button style placed on the dash. Evidently someone lost the nuts for the original switch and therefor couldn't use it as the threads were some crazy English pitch. I had to Ebay some from a motorcycle shop in the UK.

      A lot of odd stuff has been done to these old tractors, after all they are around 70 years old

    Wonderful channel, loving it a lot. I'm trying to get a friends' tractor starting, but I can't get the reverse selector to move backwards like you show in order to move the pivot to operate the starter switch. It will go into reverse OK but will not work the starter. I have removed the starter switch and observed the pivot moving downwards when selecting reverse but of course the pivot has come upwards in order to hit the starter button. So the linkage is connected to the gear selector OK, but unable to push the gear lever forwards into the start position. Any ideas?

      Try lifting the gearstick as you go, it in not exactly in line but close.

      Tried to lift and push forward and its no go. Decided to go with a key switch and a solenoid and then discovered another issue, the electrics are all 12V +ve earth, dynamo, regulator, battery and ignition coil are all 12V but the starter motor is 6V??? I saw something about the tractor has 2 types of starter motor depending on the Bellhousing?? How can we be sure of getting the right type of 12V starter for this, or is it OK to run with the 6V one as the starter is not in constant use, but it will take at least twice the current and therefore generate much more heat in the windings?

    • @BundyBearsShed
      @BundyBearsShed  2 роки тому

      @@leonardbutcher8555 the 6v starter will go ok with 12v it doesn't seem to worry the starter.

    Hi Lance, another excellent video very well presented. Thanks for your wonderful service for us Ferguson 20 restorers.
    I have a question for you. Recently I started the Ferguson while standing beside it and when I released the gear lever it slipped into reverse even though the clutch was not engaged. Fortunately I succeed in getting it out of reverse before any damage was done. Is there any easy measure I can take to prevent the gear lever going from starting to reverse in a single move.

      It sounds like the detent spring might be very weak or rusty. They should be strong enough to stop the stick on the way through.
