Permanent Invulnerability
First up is Permanent Invulnerability. If you make your hireling a Cleric 3/Abjuration Wizard 9 and cast Warding Bond on one of your party members then dismiss them in camp, when they take damage from warding bond the stacks on Arcane Ward don’t reduce like they should, so they’re basically invincible. Arcane Ward says, “Your arcane ward blocks damage equal to its charges and then loses 1 charge.” As a level 9 abjuration wizard you can get up to 18 stacks of warding bond, so as long as damage doesn’t exceed 18, they will never take damage. Since damage is getting split between you two, the chances are really low that your hireling will ever die. This is really helpful for keeping warding bond on your character in the field without worrying that the hireling is close to death back at camp. I find it incredibly ironic that we can have an immortal being keeping us alive that we have locked away back at camp exactly like Ketheric Thorm did. What a game.
Easily Steal Everything from a Trader
Next up is how to get all a merchant’s stock! Larian recently patched the trick where you could put all the trader’s items into a bag and then purchase that bag for 1 gold. However, there is still a way to get everything from a trader easily. To do this, sell them a pouch or bag, switch to barter mode, and put all their items into the pouch. But instead of buying the pouch, since it is now it’s correct value, you’ll want to exit the trade and then do your usual thieving chicanery. The pouch will be extremely easy to pickpocket compared to everything inside of it, allowing you easy access to their entire inventory of items.
Free Eldritch Blasts from an Item
Number 3 is how to get extra Eldritch Blasts. Currently there is an item in the game that is bugged and granting Eldritch Blasts an additional Blast. That bugged item is called the Craterflesh Gloves. Craterflesh gloves read, “whenever you score a critical hit, deal an additional 1d6 force damage.” However, these gloves are not adding an additional 1d6 Force damage on a critical hit when Eldritch Blast critically hits, it’s actually adding 2d10 force damage - it’s actually casting an extra eldritch blast when you crit. This is one reason why Eldritch Blast builds are extremely overpowered right now. And I’m about to release a highly detailed guide on how to build it coming out soon, so make sure to subscribe so you don’t miss it!
Advantage on (Almost) Everything
Number 4 is how to get advantage on almost everything in Act 1. This is accomplished through the Hunting Shortbow. This Shortbow sold by Dammon in Act 1 grants Feller of Monsters which gives Advantage against Monstrosity type enemies. You might think this only applies for attacks coming from the bow, but it applies to all your attack rolls, even your melee attacks. And there are 23 monstrosity type monsters in Baldur’s Gate 3, the vast majority in Act 1. This includes monsters like The Bulette, Ettercaps, Gnolls, Harpies, Worgs, Minotaur, Spiders and Spiderlings, and even more in later acts. So make sure when you reach the grove to purchase this “stat-stick” bow from Dammon to get an easy Advantage over tons of the enemies you’ll encounter in Act 1.
Open ANY Locked Chest (Without Smashing)
Number 4 is how to open any locked chest without thieves' tools, and without smashing it open. To do this you’ll need to pick up the chest and bring it to any trader. Once you open the trading menu, you are actually able to just right click and open the chest. Once you do that you can empty all the items into your inventory. And like that the items are looted from the chest. And the best part is that the chest is still locked. It’s pretty much like a magic trick.
This trick could be useful on the Zhentarim chest - take the Flask out and give them the unopened, locked chest. Little would they know…
The Hidden Cache
In act 3 there is a Hidden Cache that contains SIX mindflayer tadpoles. This is actually amazing because if you get the Illithid Power Cull the Weak, this reduces the amount of HP you need to bring an enemy below before they are instantly slain by 6, assuming you have 6 more powers to gain - and illithid powers are crazy strong in general, so six more of them is a huge buff. You can find these mindflayer tadpoles on the ship just next to the Grey Harbour Docks inside of a box...

Fun fact, fact 2 was patched in the latest hotfix 4 days ago, on patch 14. Items now update their stealing value in inventories, didn't find it two days before it was patched out :/
Next on list. Put all inventory into pouch. Level up or long rest. Merchants inventory refreshes but also pouch remains. Accumulate stuff inside. Cast darkness or fog. Bonk merchant with nonlethal attack. Pouch will be lootable.
Let your avatar sell a pouch/bag/barrell in the trade tab, then go to barter tab, put the desired items in the pouch, exit the pouch, drag the pouch to a character that's not talking to the vendor, click the other character, double click the pouch, if the pouch did not open it means you did it right, exit the shop, and viola you will see the pouch open and you can take it all
Just don't complete volo's quest, you will get a trader in camp thats really going to hate Astarion....
He will remain in camp for the whole of act 1 and 2 and every time you level a character you can steal his entire inventory, he might run away for a minute but he will come back as long as you trigger the quest before you first steal from him.
You can steal unlimited potions, money, scrolls and food from him then just buy anything you want as you travel through the game so you don't have to muck about with vendors bugging out on you.
@@migri_19 omg brilliant thank you
@@modisp Maybe I did it wrong but I tried this on the Zhent trader and as soon as I dropped fog, everybody aggroed.
Hotfix 14 fixed the 1 gold bug, another way to do it is
Let your avatar sell a pouch/bag/barrell in the trade tab, then go to barter tab, put the desired items in the pouch, exit the pouch, drag the pouch to a character that's not talking to the vendor, click the other character, double click the pouch, if the pouch did not open it means you did it right, exit the shop, and viola you will see the pouch open and you can take it all
This works! Thanks for the tip!
i approve, just tried and it works just fine *lol
Oh yeah! I gotta get in on this before the nerf.
Can't seem to do it with a controller.
I'm on Xbox, and it just won't go into the bag..
Dragging to another character does not work, you get a message that says: A character has insufficient gold. But if you kill the vendor you can loot the bag.
There is another way to get the advantage on monstrosities in Act 1, and it's the crossbow from the Gur guy in the swamp. This way you can have advantage on 2 characters, very good indeed!
I like to give the hunting shortbow to Laezel to give her two-handed attacks advantage plus hunter's mark since she doesn't need to concentrate on anything else.
The pickpocket exploit arms race between community and devs still going strong, I see 😁
Giving this video a like because you corrected your pronunciation of "ward" and "warding" ❤
An item that slept on is the resonance stone, it’s good on enchament/illusion/illithied spells. Sometimes it can make those spells 100% to hit.
Ironically, they have already patched the "steal bag" exploit, but different one was already found.
Wait which one??
@@docsilver5186 you can knock them out and the bag will be in their inventory
@@docsilver5186you can also just do the old glitch, but then switch to a different character and try to open the bag. It won’t open but when you exit out of the trade you’ll see it on screen, and you can click the take all button placing the contents into your inventory.
Theres 4 tadpoles in act 2 that you can miss too. 1 is in the colony under the jail on a dead body near where you jump in the pit. 2 are in a zenterim barrel just outside the jail side entrance and one requires a passing perception check in the last colony next to mizora. If you fail you wont see it.
Also the astral tadpole will refund the first ring of upgrades when used potentially giving you 5 back to use on someone else.
Cull the weak is completely busted on elderich blast if you have a character maxed out you can just machinengun down low hp character as anything under 25hp will just get evaporated.
Not as effective, but a lot easier: Give the bond hireling a good heavy armor with dmg reduction and train him in heavy armor mastery. This way 5 dmg will be reduced from all dmg.
Technically nothing is stopping you from doing that. Negating 23 damage after resistance (over 46 damage in one roll many times) feels overkill, but we're already deep into metagaming territory here
craterflesh gloves are working as described, the damage breakdown is reporting 2d10, but the actual damage is using 2d6 (as you can see from the total being 24 instead of the 15+3+6+6=30 it should be according to the breakdown). the only interesting part about craterflesh gloves here is that they act as a DRS and trigger damage riders like agonising blast and potent robe again.
Good tip for those who dont want to use Gale as the warding bond camp caster.
non-glitch way to steal everything from a merchant is to use the Sleep spell on them. you may still have to attack them down to below whatever your wizard's sleep threshold is, but it's a guaranteed effect at that point. and you have two turns to swipe everything, which is ample, since you now also have advantage on the sleight of hand rolls. and double advantage with the gloves of thievery.
Nice , the bag one si really op
I've always enjoyed your content Toyhouze. Thanks for all the helpful tips!
Question, is there a way to do the pouch trader trick on Ps5? I haven't been able to click and drag items in an inventory
Thank you!
I'm not sure, sorry, I haven't played on the PS5!
The pouch seems to no longer be easy to pick pocket
Actually you don't even have to pickpocket. Just switch to another character/companion while in barter mode and try opening the bag by double clicking it. It won't open, but the moment you exit barter mode the window will open and you can just press take all to take everything in the bag. I've only gotten it to work once per companion.
Works
Shh it just so good, dont let em know 😂
If you want to bring your Warding Bond user out into the field, like I am doing with my Durge Honour Mode run, you can also cast Stoneskin and/or resistance to specific energy types on yourself (the source of WB). And with Projected Ward, blocking an incoming hit to your warded ally looks something like this:
1. Incoming damage is affected by resistance then split between target of attack and source of Warding Bond
2. Reaction: Projected Ward absorbs 18 damage on warded ally (I am warding my Laezel with Adamantine Splint and Heavy Armor Master so damage must exceed 46 to pierce Projected Ward)
3. Warding Bond reduced to 17
4. Other half of damage hits the Abjurer wearing Helldusk Armor (additional 3 damage reduction and fire resist)
5. Stoneskin reduces this half by another half (the damage you're receiving is not considered to have already been affected by Resistance to damage. Note: Unclear if armor+HAM reduces damage before or after Warding Bond splits it)
6. Original hit must have exceeded 80 to pierce the Abjurer's personal ward (or 40 if I for some reason didn't prepare with Resistance to appropriate damage type)
This does burn through Ward charges pretty quickly, but the simple act of spreading the damage so much and reducing overall damage significantly means that following up with AOE heals is incredibly effective. Plus, using a Potion of Speed and slapping down a couple upcast Glyphs of Warding can restore a lot of charges in tougher battles.
I'm not level 12 yet in my run, but once I get there I am going to get Globe of Invulnerability and cast Warding Bond on my entire party. Then just sit in my bubble and absorb huge amounts of damage while the rest of my party kills everything. Whilst doing that, I will probably use some version of a Magic Missile build and pew pew from inside the globe. I won't do as much damage as an Evoker with a similar build, but who cares? It's still decent damage while making my party almost invincible.
EDIT: Also worth mentioning that between Viconia's shield and the True Love rings, you can get WB on two party members without a 3-level Cleric dip.
Just leting you know that despite number 2 being patched you can still put everything in one container and steal it while someone is in conversation with the vendor. its a high DC but I think it caps out at 20
I can almost feel the hotfix coming lmao
Wait... I didnt realise the hunting shortbow advantage applied to ALL attack rolls. Im dumb hahahaha
How does the locked chest-trader trick interact with caravan strongbox quest? Can you get the loot without failing?
1 is funny bc gale heals himself by default too unlimited number of times in camp. Only reason to keep gale alive tbh
Another fun fact, on PS5 dragging stuff to pouches or boxes or backpacks is impossible :D (not dropping btw DRAGGING) so that neat little trick would never be possible on PS. Seems Larian isn't too big a fan of console players but then again dragging items seems like an extremely difficult thing to implement on PS.
I think the bag trader thing must already be hotfixed, I was able to do it but with 13 sleight of hand i failed a ton of pickpocket rolls just to do it so I doubt it's easier than just pickpocketing.
Just use gale to cast warding bond. His affliction comes with a seceect heal only he has. And will cast it to not die at camp.
Unfortunately you cant get the flask with the vedor trick from the zhent chest, since it is a story items, which you cannot sell
You can steal it back after you turn it in though
stealing the items no longer work
Tip 2 doesn't work anymore. Unless it only doesn't work on consoles anymore.
INCREDIBLY IRONIC. 😂
They fixed the stealing pouch with all items
Off topic, I question your love of TNG if you don't know Troi's name is Deanna, not Diana. 😉😂
so wizards are the best tanks?
In dnd, yes
These are mostly bugs, not secrets.
Wait what? Eldritch Thrower has 7 actions?? 😱
he said turn 1 so I am assuming Action Surge and the gloves for 1 extra mini action surge hit are implied
7 throws for an eldritch knight? I get six, 3 from extra attack and 3 from action surge, do EKs get a bonus action attack?
One hasted
You can also dip 1 level into war cleric to get an attack as a bonus action 3 times per long rest to get up to 7. With haste/bloodlust elixir im pretty sure you get another +3 attacks if you go 11 fighter.
@@Toyhouze oh ok; I didn’t realize you meant with buffs and multiclassing when said in the video; ya def love the 11 fighter/1 war cleric combo; heaps of attacks
None of these things are secrets, they are exploits.
The steal trick works on ps5?
Opening a pouch on console gives a different screen and you can’t drag anything into the pouch so I’m 99% sure on console it does not work
Is that you Chuck McGill
'Secrets', more like exploits. Most or all of these things would be patched away once Larian became aware.
You can actually cast warding bond on Withers or the statue you can buy, and since they are invincible they wont die
How will that be useful? IIRC the target of WB gets the benefits, but the caster only shares the damage.
Hidden Cashe was in game long before Patch 5 - I got it on my first play, and it was like patch 2 max. The same is for the spell Artistry of War - it was in game from start. Not sure abaut the BOW in act 1 - but i thin it was there too (iam pretty sure I bought it, but i was sure that it only works for the bow attacks - never checked it ;P).
The only think You are showing here that is "secrets" its the new glove buff to alrady one of the best builds in game, and new way to steal from merchants (what is really not nessesery in this game).
I don’t think including bugs is great for your channel. Makes a lot of your content obsolete soon.
These aren't secrets, they're exploits.
its always weird how people use exploits in singleplayer-coop games and call it secrets if you are doing this might aswell download a mod menu or something and make yourself invincible not much different than stealing entire vendors inventory by putting it in a small stash
This is not "Insanely cool secrets", its more like "Ways to cheat in the game"
Exploits are not the same as “secrets”
These aren't secrets, these are mostly bugs or cheese strategies.
most of these are too cheezy
we can enjoy the game without breaking it
what youre showing are glitches
secrets = exploits, i guess
6 Insanely Cool -Secrets- Bugs That are Actually Overpowered in Patch 5 of Baldur's Gate 3
Please change your title to be accurate. I was expecting tips and tricks not glitches and exploits.
These are exploits, if someone finds this video in a month, everything could possibly be patched already, rendering this video useless.
But hey you need to create content I guess...
