First things first: Happy anniversary to you. I just got your channel recommended today (probably as I'm following several expats living here in Germany). Fun fact: Among the UA-camrs, you are the second American Woman i know of, who found a German in Australia, married him and finally moved to Germany. I wish you all the best in continuing your journey and learning German so there will be some day you finally will feel like being arrived in your new home and not just still being an expat living here as you stated in other videos.

Vielen Dank Rainer! 🥳 Yes, definitely in large part from him. Obviously in the beginning when I didn’t speak German it would have been much more difficult to figure things out. I couldn’t grasp the word while filming, thanks 😊

In my days if you worked while studying you were not allowed to work more than half of the week, which corresponded to "less than 20 hours".

The only right way to live in a foreign country and work there, is to learn the language, there are no other ways, speak only German also with your husband, speak German all the time, be not afraid to make mistakes, be not afraid to be misunderstanding, that is normal, try not to fall back to speak English, most Germans are able to speak English and want to help you speaking English, but that will not help you in order to learn German, insist of speaking German, even if the conversation takes longer and might be painful for everybody, but doing is the best way to learn.

As someone who lived in Australia before you may have heard of the Little River Band? In addition to @Arno Dobler I'd like to quote the first line of one of their hit song 🎶Happy anniversary baby🎶 (I do apologize for the "baby" though - I just wanted to get the quote correct and didn't want to sound inappropriate here)🎉💛

Thank you. 🙂 I just looked up the band as I hadn’t heard of them, total 70s disco vibes. 💃🏼 🪩

@@thestaceyminks Try "lonesome loser", "cool change" or "help is on it's way" as well - easy listening, melodic soft rock - and the final proof I'm as old as I claimed to be😭
