Well, I guess 50+ percent of Germans speak at least a basic English, so German language is a skill that is recommented but can be learned (basics) and improved in a ongoing process. And as Germany has a lot of export or other stuff across the world there are companies which have 'set' their language inside Germany to English. Another nice facts: In Germany are living many people from many other nations are living, so not everybody in Germany is German 🙂. And in my opinion: beside the 'Hochdeutsch' it is as well important to dive in into the local dialect. I guess this can be done just at the actual place. Don't mind: it's a bit hard, but basic words will come quick - day by day. For me and hopefully many here: If we recognize it is not a German native speaker, we don't mind - we do corrections just as a helping intention ...and sorry for my not native English ..hahaha
Kein Problem. Your English is better than my broken German. I enjoy to learn the local dialect (Badisch). Sometimes I get the accent and people here get a kick out of it. My husband tells me not to lose the ‘Hochdeutsch’ but overtime the longer I live here it’s hard for a non-native to specify what is dialect and not.
@@thestaceyminks haha...indeed:Hochdeutsch (Official German) is used everywhere public (TV, newspaper, WWW, groceries...) so you won't loose it. Hi Karin. I’m realizing (as it was a while) that I was including the time anticipated it would take me to get to a C1 level German plus studying. At the time I had a very low, practically non-existent level. I will add this into the video text as it could be confusing to others. Is it not also additional time where you get sent anywhere to a school decided from you for experience? I’m this time you also make less money? I might be wrong about that as it was a while ago?
@@thestaceyminks Yes, you will have to do 18 months teacher's training - "Referendariat" - (at a designated school and a so-called "Seminar") after finishing university, but you are paid during that time. Not a full teacher's salary, admittedly. However, at least in my state of Baden-Wuerttemberg, only Germans or EU nationals can apply for a "Referendariat" since you will be a civil servant (Beamter/Beamtin) as a teacher.
I’m also in BW. 🙂 I think for someone coming at a young age it makes sense or anyone wanting to go through it a little bit older. I remember a girl I worked with who was studying to be a teach also didn’t get an exact day in the school she went to when she finished her studies. I’m not sure if this is standard.
No please, no talk about work when the sun's out, its summer and its 2 to 3 weeks off work on our holidays time. The absolute worst time to have to start a new job but if its a good one then good luck and happy days.
Darn, I forgot. 🫣 Us Americans think everyday is a work day. Bad habit! It’s also cold and rainy at my home at the moment. Double no. Thank you for the warm wishes and I hope you’re enjoying enough nice summer for us both! ☀️🙂
Okay, three times rejected. Since I obviously seem to violate an obscure algorithm with a perfectly normal comment, I'll give up...Maybe I can send you my comment as a mail? Because I think you might want to follow up on some of my suggestions.
@@thestaceyminks It keeps on going.... I mailed you and got this response: "552 1 Requested mail action aborted, mailbox not found" - are you sure the adress stated is still valid?
I wanted to check back. If you were to send an email with just one sentence and see if it takes. I’m really curious if it’s what’s being written or it’s denying me emails. Happy Friday. 🙂
Hm, somehow my last comment here is rejected by YT so I'll try this for a test...

@rairei The Bavarian accent sounds so sweet. It reminds me a bit of Swiss German. It’s interesting how diverse languages can be.
Well, you don't study for 5-7 years at a Gernan PH, but 3 years (6 semesters) for the B.A. plus 1 year (2 semesters) to get the M.Ed.
