I’ll always try to use the 2” but sometimes they just don’t want it so I’ll switch over to a smaller profile bait and you’ll get bit

Sand crabs are always a good choice if you wanting to use live bait and there free they catch a variety of fish from shore

What’s the minimum length rod you would use for surf casting. , also do you just use mono?

The funny thing is I lived off beach in HB for 2 years when I was in college now I moved to Port Hueneme so it’s a nice change.

I would use no less than 9’rod because you want to be able to cast past were the waves are breaking in most cases

Also I always go braid to fluorocarbon leader
