  • Want to know where to look when finding gold on bedrock? Let me show you how to find gold. In this video not only do I show you where I would look, My friends and I demonstrate what we find in these spots. Finding gold in crevices, fissures and in natural drainage of overhanging placer materials can really pay off. Where to find gold, how to find gold, what to look for when looking for gold, are all great questions and the more you learn about how gold deposits, the better you will be at finding the gold. Gold panning the Fraser river is always rewarding, and Fraser river bedrock always gives up some treasures.
    This video is produced by Dan Hurd, Prospector, Miner, Teacher and UA-camr, as part of his UA-cam channel based on educational videos about gold mining, gold panning, prospecting, rock hounding, and mineral collecting.

    Dan that's some serious climbing, are y'all part mountain goats? Trains and gold. Two of my favorite things I'm going to try some panning in the Mississippi river down here in Louisiana. I know that they haven't found gold here but I just want to try swishing a pan and learn the technique of getting the light stuff out and the heavies to stay in the pan. I'll bet I can find some black sand. I've learned a lot from watching your videos for about six months. Now I want to try what I've learned. Alabama and Georgia are not too far and I know they have found placer gold there, but exactly where I don't know. Keep up the videos. I love watching them.

    Suggestion of testing upper ridge old river cobble areas that are far from water... Take a plastic bin and fishing pole with heavy poly line to tie bucket to cast for water. Rill in the buckets of water to fill plastic bin and use bin to pan wash pay dirt in for testing. Fishing pole can also be used for fishing on the side while panning for gold. Grill fish for meals while panning as well. :-)

    So can you prepare a crack you have worked with a bunch of rocks to make a "natural" sluice ? So a season or so later you can go back and "find" more gold.

    Love the scenery. How deep would the river still be at low level and are you allowed to snipe in it or is that not a part of you claim. how long is the average claim ?

      Claims ar about 1/2km long. this river is VERY deep even at low water. And technically we can't snipe underwater.

Maybe that can be a video show different water levels on a claim and how it moves material.

    From my perspective watching your videos on this river it seems to me the bulk of the gold is coming from upriver rather than up the bank. There are two reasons I think this- the obvious is that most of your larger pieces seem to be found closer to the water level. The other involves math. If you look at your takes from the various areas they are pretty consistent. If the bulk of the gold had come from local uphill placers I would expect the various gully/crevice areas would fluctuate wildly in gold content to correspond with the features of the ancient river. On the other hand, if most of the gold is from up river then one would expect more consistent production place to place. The second part of the math is that there is a whole lot more "goldshed" up river than up hill. Just a couple of thoughts from an amateur.

    • @Danhurd
      @Danhurd  5 років тому +3

      The uphill Placers are just upriver placers deposited long ago, so in a way the gold has come from up river. The reason I don't think they are currently being placed thereby there river. (At least the bigger pieces) is that the gold would have to climb a long ways from the river bottom to deposit on the cliff walls where we are. the river has to be at least 50 feet deep in this channel even at low water.

    • @gregs2509
      @gregs2509 5 років тому

      @@Danhurd All the pieces I can remember in your vids were flakes in shape and many were folded. Seems those shapes would "fly" better than other shapes. And it seems more likely the folding would happen moving with 5 pound cobbles rather than in the crack. I hope you can figure it out for certain and we'll all know a bit more! That's the real fun in this game!

  • @rastamanralph6670
    @rastamanralph6670 5 років тому

    A was thinking surely the river won't get right up to the top where you were looking at the cobbles.might actually be worth a bit scratch around there.it looked like it was at least 20 meters down to the river.take a tub and some water up.
