Detecting: HUGE gold nugget found. (Pickerton claim)

  • Metal detecting my picker claim on the Fraser river pays off with a large gold nugget. A few gold pickers and flakes were found as well, but nothing compares the whopper of a gold nugget I found in a bedrock crevice. Gold panning and gold prospecting on the Fraser river is never dull, always something exciting to be found.
Detecting gold nuggets with the Garret AT gold is not my specialty, but I am learning on how to find gold. This gold nugget is a record smashing gold nugget for me. I have found many gold nuggets but nothing this big. Gold panning is more my thing, but I and getting better at metal detecting Fraser river gold. The question of, where to find gold, or how to find gold on this claim is still a mystery.
This video is produced by Dan Hurd, Prospector, Miner, Teacher and UA-camr, as part of his UA-cam channel based on educational videos about gold mining, gold panning, prospecting, rock hounding, and mineral collecting.

Hi Dan, I discovered your channel just a few days ago and I love it, you are a hoot (very funny)! I recently lost my job due to Covid-19, so I am taking the time to learn more about gemstone hunting as I live in Atlanta Ga and we have several beautiful stones that come from this area. You seem very knowledgeable and are very enjoyable to watch your adventures. I turn 61 this year and I am looking for a hobby for when I retire. Thanks for sharing your experiences with the rest of us.

Found this massive quartz outcropping on our Monashee Creek claim, not sure if it’s a boulder that rolled down from above or part of the bed rock. I’m going to think this is a good place to look for gold, any suggestions as where to look. We sampled some of the bank directly below it where the creek had undercut it, but found nothing. With this be a good place to use our metal detector.

I have just recently started watching your videos and enjoy them very much.just wish I was still young enough to go on expeditions searching for gold myself but alas my health prevents me so I am content just watching you on yours.and for those that have negative comments it's pure jealousy on their part because they themselves aren't adventurous to do it themselves.thank you for sharing with me the beautiful background scenery that God has painted for our viewing pleasure as well as the gold that's nice also.am looking forward to going on more expeditions with you...until then I remain..respectfully yours....BarefootBob..Nobleton,Fl.34661

Howdy do Dan! I first saw the nugget at 13:42. After reviewing the video, the nugget was first visible between 12:35 to 12:41. It was cloaked by the moss! Woooot!!!

Congrats on a beautiful nugget! I got a little bit of color in my pan today but the rain and hail made my trip short. C'mon summer!

love your videos, I randomly pick them to view, but this one made my day. You said 'Fricken'!!! Twice!!! that's my saying. Hope you find more humongous nuggets on this one in the future. I like the crevass'ing videos with that thin type of rock. If it was me and found that nugget, I'd be breaking everything up within a mile and panning it all... but I only have a green pan, no rocks for miles here, I may eventually get some turtle dirt from the creeks around here... (sigh) It's nice to dream and watch these videos. Thanks for the entertainment. Ohio sucks lol.

Dan, I've been watching your vids for a couple of days now. I'm going to retire soon, and I'm thinking this would be a fun and relaxing way to spend my time.
