  • How to work slate or shale bedrock to find gold. Finding gold trapped in slaty or shale bedrock can be a challenge. Slaty bedrock, the natural gold trap is perfect for catching the gold, but must be worked hard to release its trapped gold. Gold panners must know how to snipe the crevices of this bedrock completely to get the gold. Gold panning these bedrock deposits can result in some of the richest paydirts or pay streaks around. How and where to find gold is one of the biggest questions asked. Hopefully this video helps answer some of those questions.

    • @wygold
      @wygold 5 років тому

      tace115 I always tell people, “you’ll never know what’s under your feet unless you dig it up”. How’s the monster 1000 handle in the desert terrain? Can’t decide if monster 1000 or the equinox 800 would be better for desert hunting (relics, coins, gold ore, mine tunnels, etc.) $$ to tight for the CTX3030 or GPX5000 otherwise I’d chose them over the others.

    • @ArizonaGoldHunters
      @ArizonaGoldHunters 5 років тому

      @@wygold , The GM 1000 is amazing, I have only had it a couple weeks though, but it is killer on small gold and can handle hot ground. Being a VLF machine, it still picks up hot rocks that the GPX would ignore. It really depends on the type of detecting you are going to focus on. If it is mainly gold, get a gold specific machine, if you mainly want to relic hunt, the XP or Equinox may be a better choice. I hunted with one of the "I Brake for Bedrock" Guys, and Boulder Dash was saying that if you are looking for specimen gold "Quartz / Gold Matrix" the Gold Bug 2 is Superior to the Gold Monster, but in terms of just small nuggets, they are both comparable. I am looking at selling my GB2 with the 10 and 6" coil. I have someone who may be interested. If not, with money being tight, would you be interested in it? $550 plus true shipping, comes with an extra battery cover too which are easy to lose.

      @@Danhurd I've been thinking about that. Do they core samples anymore? Could you show how they get the samples and how they read them or analyze them? Here, wherever there is bedrock showing, there are holes from core sampling. My Dad had a 2 inch diameter, 22 inches long core sample that was solid copper. I do have more ideas I'll submit later. Thanks

    I am so glad you did this video, I have been getting into a ton of shale and I’ve pretty much been disassembling it peace by peace and scrubbing the rocks or working this smaller ones in my arbor classifier! I have had great success but kept questioning myself if there was a better way or if I was loosing gold

    I really appreciate these vids.
    Used to mine stuff as a kid, now wanting to show my own kids how to find gold (including from scrap electronic recovery)
    Don't have a pan or metal detector though, so mainly collecting decent looking samples and whatever flakes I happen to be able to collect off things.
    Got some good finds so far, based in SW Ontario

      @@Danhurd I am excited with this last run of videos chasing pickers/ nuggets and origins, especially with the diversity, with different metal detectors and there capabilities and the microscope video, let alone the take on working shale and where the gold is showing, finding the source would be huge GOOD LUCK!
      It is this broad education that you bring that is great, right back to your school videos, and upto your current with crushing systems and your smelting videos.
      I am a newbie, and currently working through figuring out tuning on my highbanker and looking for a clean up system for myself, Miller table or similar.
      Your channel continues to be great, you are a entertaining host, this puts you over so many videos out there. One thing I haven't seen a dedicated video on is how you would dissect a claim, if there is a systematic approach to testing and chasing, or if it is simply test, test, test and gold is where it is.

      Dan Hurd Mr Dan, if you have time my only suggestion is please do a series or a few videos on:--
      Can you make enough money to live off gold mining when times are tough?
      Or possibly a time spent/panning for how much gold per hour?
      Like a 4 or 5 hours a day of Mining for 2 weeks how much Gold would you get.
      I appreciate very much the knowledge you share it's invaluable
