I am trying ground cover in my raised beds for the first time this winter. I think it will work well. I also have half my onions in and all my garlic. It's nice to see someone in their garden doing much the same as I am. Love your garden.
Good luck! I hope the cover crops work out well :) I really want to get my onions and garlic in but the weather has been to wet to even think about making the beds for them. Hopefully soon :)
Hi Kate. You sure have wonderful neighbors. You mention all the great things they share with you in most of your videos. The size of the sunflower head you were cleaning off is amazing! I can think of 6 things off the top of my head that sunflower plants are useful for. I'm sorry I didn't get any planted this year. 😊
I am very fortunate to have mostly generous and kind garden neighbors. It's a lovely give-and-take where no one keeps track. One neighbor just harvested the leaves and stems of my corn plants as chicken feed, for example. He's one of the grass clipping donators who is also glad to have a place to dump the grass, because they all used to drive it to the nearby field. I am closer, so donating saves them work. It is really lovely how it all works out. Six? That's a lot.
@RootsandCalluses I count the seeds to eat,the flowers for pollinators, using the stalks for vines to climb up, harvested stalks for making trellises, chopped up stalks, leaves and the head after the seeds are removed, for compost, and the enjoyment of looking at the beauty of the flowers. 🙂
Glad to see you're still harvesting tomatoes.
I took the last plants down today, so I have been harvesting very well. I am very content with the tomatoes.

Nice big Sunflowers. Thanks for your Video.
You are very welcome!

@rosebayer114 Oh yes, so much to do with them. Next year, I really want to try eating a grilled sunflower head.
