- Elvis Costello interviews Herbie Hancock (pianist and composer), who plays "Watermelon Man" and music from Round Midnight. Discusses Miles Davis and his long career. Karriem Riggins and Christian McBride back him onstage.
Costello is an excellent interviewer. He never hogs the time or makes the hour about himself, but asks pertinent and interesting questions and then actually LISTENS to his guests. And his questions pour forth naturally because he’s a walking encyclopedia of 20th century music of every sort. He’s also been my favorite songwriter for decades. I’m so glad he featured Hancock; the man is an absolutely stunning artist.
Great way to enter 2021...thanx Herbie... thanx Elvis.
Wow. best 50 minutes I have spent in a long time
Great production, good interview ~nice work, Elvis and crew! Elvis is back in the building ;-)
And isn’t Hey Clockface a delight? My favorite tracks on most albums tend to shift around a lot but “They’re Not Laughing At Me Now,” “The Whirlwind” and “What Is It That I Need That I Don’t Already Have?” are really spectacular.
Best 50 minutes I've invested in a long time.
Here here!
thank you for this...
Oh, make me beg for that theme on Chan’s Song. Beautiful!
