Some pepole don't understamd that orion is supposed to be weak but when the matix of leadership came along he became optimus prime he was stronger than ever some pepole don't get it
Just FYI, the IDW comics are basically set back on cybertron after the war, so they pretty much take place after all the earlier Dreamwave and IDW G1 comics. They also tend to take the best designs from multiple continuities, so you've got some WfC/FoC styles bots like Grimlock and Starscream, some more G1 styled bots like Ironhide, and then some more original IDW designs like the bomber megatron, and Prowl. Basically, IDW is a catch-all universe that includes the best designs from others.
Just a heads up for viewers: when transforming Pax back to vehicle mode you are supposed to untab the windshield assembly and tilt it forward in order to swing the wheels forward cleanly. There really isn't room to do it without really pressing your luck.
Space is always limited so I actually dig good figures that are maybe on the smaller size but give the same enjoyment of Voyager, leader size. And this is a great looking figure and nice details as well. I love its altmode design.
the reason the recent Generations IDW Transformers figures are so small right now is because its mostly a test line, hasbro wants to see how popular these toys are gonna be first before releasing anything bigger. aside from that, awesome review! can't wait for Megatron.
The only ones that continue or follow each other are beastwars being a prequel to g1 then beast machines followed by g1 and g2. The other ones that continue are bay formers
Optibotmus, you're missing an Orion Pax! There was also a transformers prime arms micron Orion Pax. Mitch Santona has a review of him. He's almost the same exact toy as Optimus though, only with muted colors and decepticon stickers.
At last they made an Orion Pax figure. I can come up with a pretty cool background story of how he became Optimus Prime if I ever get him. Just an idea for a stop-motion. Anyways, great review. :D
SDCC Metroplex has 01 of 30 on the bottom of his packaging near the UPC... Is there a numbering system for the whole "Thrilling 30" series of Generations figures or does each wave have its own #1, etc...interesting. I'm really digging the packaging. My only dislike is the little panel stuck behind his head, I hate when they do that.
It is confusing though with the multiple stories on how the transformers came to fruition especially the decepticons and autobots G1 they were made by the quintisans in the comic made by primus in order to maintain himself while in planet form after sealing unicron in the form of a planet or how the decepticons were miners and rebelled against "the tyrannical autobots" and one miner named megatron formed the decepticons
It fits for me that Orion is a smaller toy compared to others, in the cartoon, he was pretty small :) I followed your recommandation that you gave me a while back and I preordered at bbts the case of 4: Pax, bee, megs and cutter :)
continuity-wise, the IDW comics are pretty much their own thing. If you liked the orion pax one, you should try and get ahold of the trailbreaker one, it's pretty flippin' good
Well in IDW's comic storyline, Orion Pax was originally just a police officer for the corrupt Cybertronian Senate and was chosen by Senator Shockwave (yes, Decepticon Shockwave) as a potential Prime. Also Orion Pax viewed Megatron as a friend when he read a pamphet Megatron wrote about making changes in Cybertron's government peacefully until one of Orion's men assaulted Megatron when he was in a holding cell thus showing Megatron that change could only be achieved through force.
Great that we get borderline obscure guys in tux thrilling 30 range and not just the main cast! I only wish that Hasbro would make Areil and Dion so we can have the whole pre-war crew!
Thanks for the wonderful review! Orion Pax is an amazing figure and I can't wait to pick him up. I'm so glad he got an original mold. By the way I was curious what you thought of the last episode of TF Prime if you watched it. I thought it was really well done and an amazing ending to a great series.
Great review Optibotimus, though, I was wondering if you had any plans on reviewing the pacific rim figure line by neca? I have seen them online from thinkgeek but couldn't really tell if they were for me or not. Any info would be wonderful :) thanks for all the fun reviews.
Thanks for the review. Not happy with how small Hasbro has been going with the figures for the past year. Totally out of scale with the past CHUG figure. Might just display the new figures on a separate shelf.
I'd pose mine next to either classics voyager prime or WFC deluxe prime to show the transformation from Orion Pax to Optimus Prime.and I don't care if they don't come from the same continuity:)
I can definitely see this as a Sergeant Kup as well, whether Hasbro or Takara will repaint it or someone will do a custom, but I wanna see that done. Haha :)
Great review once again Paul! Just got done placing an order with BBTS for the set. I was only considering getting Orion Pax. But after seeing your review on Megatron and Trailcutter I had get them all. I'd like to give two thumbs up to you man. Your reviews are extremely good and transforming the figures to all of their modes is something most reviewers don't do. I give you kudos for that. It drives me crazy when reviewers shows the transformation from a mode opposite than what came retail. C:
Deadlock makes me wonder what they will do the Predacons Rising movie. I mean, the last episode was so awesome.............the movie has a lot to live up to!
I just bought a transformer that looks like optimus but isnt and he came with a trailer that transforms into giant legs for it and transforms just like Orion pax who is it
I have been watching all your TF reviews and they are a delight to watch, but something struch me when looking at one. The head of Orion Pax is almost the same as in TF G1 episode War Dawn, the robot mode looks about the same as well except for the wheels. I had to open the video and pause it on my Blu-Ray player to be sure. You might want to do the same. About the history of TF itself you can always ask any q to me, i most likely will be able to answer them if they are related to G1 in a way.
I've been vigilantly checking all my local retails but have been unable to find any of the 30th anniversary figures (besides the triple transforming voyagers). Where do you get your? Do you have special reviewer's privileges?
The continuity of the comics is IDW G1. Look it up at tfwiki.net Did you get yours from BBTS? I'm still waiting for them to fill my order of the whole wave.
I got this figure and am very happy with it, I don't mind the size, because to me Preoptimus should be smaller all around, and I would LOVE to see the movies give Optimus that backstory, just so I could have a movie version to go with that collection, be a pain to find a voice actor for Orion, Collin sounds to old and wise to play a young robot.
have you even considered acquainting yourself with idw publishing's various transformers series. they are dark, gritty, intense, adventurous, mature, and complex. as far as i, and numerous other fans are concerned the idw universe has effectively revitalized, reinvigorated, and further contributed to the grandeur of g1 lore.
i don't agree with your opinion on autocracy, on the other hand, i do agree optibotimus really needs to get into IDW comics. now that hasbro is doing comic characters, this is a must!
I like that these toys came with Comics, you can get more vested in a brand by learning the lore behind it. I hope Hasbro and IDW do more of these.
I have Fall of Cybertron Optimus, but since he's WAY too small to be Optimus, I use him as Orion Pax.
Some pepole don't understamd that orion is supposed to be weak but when the matix of leadership came along he became optimus prime he was stronger than ever some pepole don't get it
This is very nice modern presentation of the Orion Pax. Both his modes look good and his weapons are rather sweet for being relatively simple.
Just ordered this guy along with Megatron! They should be here by next week. Cant wait! Great review as always btw :)
Optibotimus, dude, I swear, Autocracy is one of the best Transformers comics I've read in a very long time. 5/5 my friend, a total must-read! :D
Just a heads up for viewers: when transforming Pax back to vehicle mode you are supposed to untab the windshield assembly and tilt it forward in order to swing the wheels forward cleanly. There really isn't room to do it without really pressing your luck.
Just bought one used, 8 years late but still looks amazing! cant wait to have him in my hands!
love this one...the paint application wasn't the greatest on mine...but the design is awesome..
Actually the axe handle its black paint over white clear plastic
I love the gold arrows on his arms. Nice G1 Homage.
Great review. I hope these come out at BBTS soon.
Space is always limited so I actually dig good figures that are maybe on the smaller size but give the same enjoyment of Voyager, leader size. And this is a great looking figure and nice details as well. I love its altmode design.
Thank you for another keen review .. i saw other's review him but i was waiting for your review to decide if i wanted him or not . I value you opinion
My orion pax figure package art on the side has megatron and orions axe in the background
the reason the recent Generations IDW Transformers figures are so small right now is because its mostly a test line, hasbro wants to see how popular these toys are gonna be first before releasing anything bigger. aside from that, awesome review! can't wait for Megatron.
Is this toy already in stores because I have to have him!!!!!!!!!!
When I bought mine it was the last piece and full of stretch marks but I was able to repair it and now it's awesome
The only ones that continue or follow each other are beastwars being a prequel to g1 then beast machines followed by g1 and g2. The other ones that continue are bay formers
Nice review! That figure is defiantly on my 'To Get' List!
Optibotmus, you're missing an Orion Pax! There was also a transformers prime arms micron Orion Pax. Mitch Santona has a review of him. He's almost the same exact toy as Optimus though, only with muted colors and decepticon stickers.

Looks like a cool figure and I love how it comes with the comic but do you know about when we will see him in US stores.
Great look at this guy. I love the visual cues to his future self! Cannot wait to get him :)
SDCC Metroplex has 01 of 30 on the bottom of his packaging near the UPC...

Great review dude! looks like a kool figure to have! :)
It fits for me that Orion is a smaller toy compared to others, in the cartoon, he was pretty small :)

Totally getting him one day, and I think this is the first time, I'm actually ok with the toy being smaller.
The IDW G1 continuity is separate from the Aligned (WFC/FOC/Prime) Continuity.
Be pretty neat if we could have seen a comparison with classic voyager optimus prime unless you sold that one too
10:44 Which optimus figure is that? Also, does that axe come with the figure or is it separate?
Well in IDW's comic storyline, Orion Pax was originally just a police officer for the corrupt Cybertronian Senate and was chosen by Senator Shockwave (yes, Decepticon Shockwave) as a potential Prime. Also Orion Pax viewed Megatron as a friend when he read a pamphet Megatron wrote about making changes in Cybertron's government peacefully until one of Orion's men assaulted Megatron when he was in a holding cell thus showing Megatron that change could only be achieved through force.
cant wait when he does bumblebee he looks like a dodge charger :D
anyone know why the arm guards can detach on this, happened and i couldnt see where else they attach
My figure's face popped off when i rotated the head but thankfully popped back on easily
I have this and it really has grown on me
I have a question (i am a transformers noob) how do they see when they are driving or flying when they are in vehicle mode?
Great that we get borderline obscure guys in tux thrilling 30 range and not just the main cast! I only wish that Hasbro would make Areil and Dion so we can have the whole pre-war crew!
That would be amazing, you could have a collection of the three pre-war leaders
great job how could anyone dislike your reviews
Thanks for the wonderful review! Orion Pax is an amazing figure and I can't wait to pick him up. I'm so glad he got an original mold. By the way I was curious what you thought of the last episode of TF Prime if you watched it. I thought it was really well done and an amazing ending to a great series.

but optimus is orion pax so how do they want to do that?
Think I'll pick this up. Love tfs that have nice clicking joints.
is it the Orion Pax spotlightcomic where he has Rack 'n' Ruin and Alpha Trion with him?
makes me think of rattrap's reply to cheetor about how fast optimus primal learns new bodies :)
thanks so much and another question who was probably your favorite TFP character
This figure is supposed to be from the IDW G1 continuity, but I can see it being repurposed as WFC/FOC Orion Pax.
Thanks for the review. Not happy with how small Hasbro has been going with the figures for the past year. Totally out of scale with the past CHUG figure. Might just display the new figures on a separate shelf.
just bought this figure today...like it! I agree the weapons are notin the rightplaceon the vehicle mode. but i still like this one.
Debating getting this guy. I only have the IDW Megatron atm, he's is small be awesome lol - especially when the purple panel lines are added!
can orion's weapons fit in the classics optimus prime toy
Are you going to be doing a review on that "Stealth Bomber" Megatron?
I really enjoy his vehicle design. To me, it gives off Transformers 07 movie vibe.
it's an amazing figure! I found him in the local Target store - the last one and $16 canadian! But didn't come with the comic book.
Please do the megatron on the bottom of the box of orion. His body in the comic is so cool
I'd pose mine next to either classics voyager prime or WFC deluxe prime to show the transformation from Orion Pax to Optimus Prime.and I don't care if they don't come from the same continuity:)
This orion pax looks like it would fit into the classics mold of optimus prime. the two just look like they go together
I can definitely see this as a Sergeant Kup as well, whether Hasbro or Takara will repaint it or someone will do a custom, but I wanna see that done. Haha :)
Great review once again Paul! Just got done placing an order with BBTS for the set. I was only considering getting Orion Pax. i like that he is smallish because i just dont see him as being a big guy before he became a prime
The War for Cybertron continuity is the Aligned continuity (AKA Transformers Prime)
your reviews are awesome. Where did you get the orion pax figure?
Deadlock makes me wonder what they will do the Predacons Rising movie. I mean, the last episode was so awesome.............the movie has a lot to live up to!
Orion Pax is Optimus Prime right?
Yes
+Desert Wolf Yes. But you've probably looked it up by now.
Yes
Another great review from optibotimus :)
I'm starting to have stress joints where the legs peg together! Don't like that one bit!
hello not you think that every time the sizes are smaller?
How tall is he, compared to G1 Predaking????
I'm kinda split on this figure, I love the weapons and the robot mode but I'm kinda split on the vehicle mode
I just bought a transformer that looks like optimus but isnt and he came with a trailer that transforms into giant legs for it and transforms just like Orion pax who is it
great proportion and aesthetic!
I have been watching all your TF reviews and they are a delight to watch, but something struch me when looking at one. how he looks next to the Voyager Optimus Prime from Generations?
Very nice figure.
Did this hit stores like target yet
I think the packaging picture backround on the front looks like a kreo optimus prime.
What are you talking about? When in the IDW continuity did a young Optimus never have the ability to Transform?
Also, WFC and FOC are in the same continuity as Transformers: Prime.
I've been vigilantly checking all my local retails but have been unable to find any of the 30th anniversary figures (besides the triple transforming voyagers). Where do you get your? Do you have special reviewer's privileges?
yah good review. hope to see even better ones with the upcoming line.
Can I buy that WFC optimus?
The continuity of the comics is IDW G1. Look it up at tfwiki.net
Did you get yours from BBTS? I'm still waiting for them to fill my order of the whole wave.
it looks like an hybrid between the two cars if you ask me :)
Thunderclash that the repaint that needs to happen
I got this figure and am very happy with it, I don't mind the size, because to me Preoptimus should be smaller all around, and I would LOVE to see the movies give Optimus that backstory, just so I could have a movie version to go with that collection, be a pain to find a voice actor for Orion, Collin sounds to old and wise to play a young robot.
+DoctorNerd I say they get David Kaye to voice Orion Pax.
Dude that's so cool I totally want it now!
Wait... he had a new body before he became Optimus Prime? So the Prime body was number two for him?
hey optibotimus,
wil there be a takara release of this figure with comic??
greetings from holland.
I have it, but saddly in spain it comes without the comic
Not to mention that he's one of the only characters besides Megatron that dies and revives multiple times.
I was thinking of packing in collecting TFs except for the odd masterpiece due to financial reasons, but now I've seen this..
I think this was a real good video and if I actually owned him I'd put it on my collection shelf and recommend it for my transformers fan friends
Very awesome figure. Love the review. Thanks again dude.
These new generations are not part of the video game seperate story buts still great great both stories
have you even considered acquainting yourself with idw publishing's various transformers series. they are dark, gritty, intense, adventurous, mature, and complex. as far as i, and numerous other fans are concerned the idw universe has effectively revitalized, reinvigorated, and further contributed to the grandeur of g1 lore.
His vehicle mode is kinda a sport car clash a truck
i don't agree with your opinion on autocracy, on the other hand, i do agree optibotimus really needs to get into IDW comics. now that hasbro is doing comic characters, this is a must!
