I know, right?! It was something I never knew I wanted, but can't imagine why I never thought of it before. They're the TRANSFORMERS, for cryin' out loud! Of course they're gonna use full and partial transformations to gain the upper hand on a fight! :D
Transformers 2007 Optimus: You gave me no choice brother. Transformers the last knight. Megatron: We were brothers once. Optimus: Once. Gotta give the bayverse credit they had a good run before this, but it's a damned shame we won't get to see unicron.😢
In my opinion it really is sad that Prime and Megatron were like brothers until Megatron corrupted and let anger and hatred consume him and he didn’t want to fight his brother but Prime had no choice because if he spared his life, including himself Megatron would destroy all of Cybertron
My biggest gripe with bayverse is the transformers never got to feel like people, they were just background noise so when lines about how they were brothers always felt empty because we never really got to know they as people, tfo really delivered when it came to character writing
3:05 Man I did not expect to hear a part of transformers prime theme in this movie and I am so happy they added it in prime is my favorite series the nostalgia the theme gave me was insane
Name me what you will but seeing their frienship in that scene early in the movie when D-16 helps Pax hide in that huge box, Pax gifting him that Megatronus sticker made this hit so hard. Those damned chopped onions appeared out of nowhere. Also at the end of this fight when you see Megatrons sadness just sitting there silent. Like he just fully understood what he did and the betrayal of his best friend in the world. Best Transformers movie ever for me.
Also that small flashback to where it all began, after all the adventure, pain and suffering, seeing that flashback scene to simpler times just hits hard, its the moment their friendship was born and its a time of innocence and joy that will never return and will be lost forever.
Brian Tyree Henry really out did himself with his incredible performance and his deep understanding of Megatron since always wanted to play the villains. Every villain is a hero of his and her own Story. D-16 is not only a product of Cybertron’s corrupted system and takes on Sentinel Prime’s oppression though violent means all the social injustices he had experiences forged his transcendence into Megatron and building up to a rivalry with Orion turned Optimus Prime (due to wanting the same goal of a unified Cybertron but have different viewpoints). But their friendship is doomed since they discovered that shocking realization their leader Sentinel Prime had sold out Cybertron to the Quintessons after betraying his fellow Prime brothers and sisters, and ruled his planet through oppression. D-16 has put too much faith in the system he has held on to until his worldview was shattered that boils up to anger and a personal vengeance after being suffered of the social injustices while Orion still kept his optimism by exposing the truth of Sentinel's corruption. Before entering the core of Cybertron, Orion is willfully sacrificed his life for the sake of his brother’s mortality but that effort is in vain. This what makes D-16 a much more of a compelling hero-turned-villain and tragic character in Transformers history. And the rift between two brothers. Both D-16 and Orion really wanted a unified Cybertron but each have different ways to bringing it into fruition.
@@xanderguldie D-16 was tortured by Sentinel Prime who crudely welded the face of Megatronus Prime decal on his chest with glee previously. So yeah he really wants to tear Sentinel apart and did exactly that.

doesn't even feel like a transformers film, it feels like a fan made film made by truely dedicated fans, but this movie is WAYYYY better than 4 of the Bayverse movies, and ROTB.
I think after he awaken the energon axe, the memory of the past 13 prime is also encrypted in him, giving him a significant boost on combat, even the high guards cannot keep up
3:06 Alpha Trion: “Orion Pax. Your noble sacrifice for the greater good has proven you worthy in the eyes of Primus. He entrusts in you the future of Cybertron, and... the Matrix of Leadership! 3:55 ARISE! Optimus Prime."
I'm really excited for the sequel. I felt like this Optimus design isn't quite as serious as I hoped and the voice leaves some to be desired but it's understandable that they want to show a younger optimus. I hope if we do get a sequel he'll have a more fitting voice and design to reflect his experience and such
You can tell Chris Hemsworth is following Peter Cullen's performance of Optimus especially at the end though, it's a nice transition. Like his voice in One is a young Orion Pax/Prime and you could say Cullen's Prime is when he has more experience under his belt
I love the context this gives to their future battles. Optimus doesn't want to kill Megatron because he remembers D16 and has a hope, no matter how unlikely, that his friend is in there somewhere and will return someday.
This scene is amazing it’s set up as the rise of megatron and fall of Orion pax but in reality it’s the fall of d-16 and rise of Optimus prime it’s just perfection
Look at how the High Guard were ready to follow Megatron with his vision of a better future. How did Starscream feel the same way since he did not want to give up his leadership?
Probably because he had the courage to finally do what the High Guard should've already done a long time ago. I wouldn't be surprised if this version of Starscream outwardly respected Megatron for defeating him, with his "one bot over another" mentality. But secretly holds a grudge and is biding his time until he finds an opportunity to usurp Megatron.
@@nagger8216 It's not unlikely for Starscream to try and steal Megatron's position as the leader, maybe not now because he almost dies to him but someday.
A detail I noticed was after Optimus said that Megatron and The High Guard were banished from Iacon, Megatron's eyes dimmed slightly and tears were running from his eyes, meaning he was genuinely hurt by his former brother-in-arms banishing him from his homeplace.
That's the thing It was already late to calm down D-16 wont ever come back because he can't allow himself to, before he had conciousness, he just did harm to his friend, and look, he genuinely thought he killed him Megatron is what all is left, because he knows he can't turn back
I love how the Energon Axe is almost a defense mechanism from the Matrix itself. And how it integrates out of him instead of him physically holding it like Zeta did earlier in the movie.
I love how when they die (sentinel and Orion) that their color fades just like when Optimus died in the cartoon. Their color is like their personality and vitality. They can even change it at will in some canon. I like that they turn into muted grey tones when they die. Makes them feel more like living robotic beings than actual robots
I've never seen anything about this movie until just now but this is genuinely one of the best sequences I've seen in an animated film in at least a decade.
1:06 This scene is especially powerful because it is not only the origin of a Villain but at the same time the birth of a Hero. This is indeed cinema 🎥
I noticed a small detail: When Megatron is fighting both Elita and B he sheathes his arm cannon and uses his fists instead. While D's not above fighting his friends he won't use his gun lest he kills them just like he did to Orion. There's a a bit of D-16 lingering on him
How did they make a new transformers animated movie this good. Wasn't expecting anything special and I am an OG Peter Cullen fan. This is how you do modern take on original classic and respect the original at the same time. This was really really impressive.
The twist, parallels, contrast, turntable, and raw emotions all in one scene. The shots, actions, and voice actings. This one scene is so fucking impactful and strong, it outweighs so much of the flaws in the movie. So far one of the most breathtaking ending in any movies ive watched. @@martmandred9182 sometimes I ask myself that would he make a right choice if he gave his friend another chance to make things right rather than banishing him.
@@martmandred9182 I think him lowering his mask is them trying to show that that was Orion talking, not Optimus.
That was the little detail that I absolutely loved from this moment. The fact that you can see the pain and sadness in his face, to see someone who you knew for the longest time and considered your brother...become someone unrecognizable and blinded by hatred, hurts.
I like the fact that Megatron starts his sentence calmly but ends up yelling, but Alpha Trion starts yelling and then ends it calmly.

3:49 I… AM… MEGATRON!!! - Megatron 2024
3:55 Arise, Optimus Prime. - Alpha Trion 2024
D-16 gave himself a name, Alpha Trion gave Orion Pax THE name
This movie takes place millions of years before they even get to earth
