Quick question what was is name of the spray that you uses before putting the ceramic C4 on the headlights. And does that C4 run when you put it on the headlights?
Hey man! That was CarPro Eraser. Its an alcohol based product to remover any remaining waxes/polished left on the surface so that the ceramic coating can bond better. And no C4 never runs, it smears I guess you could say
Dor Sapir most people do care about their car man, especially considering it’s the 2nd biggest financial purchase in a persons life- right below purchasing a house! For the most part, people just take their cars thru the car wash & assume that’s good enough. Do a few cars & sell what separates you from a car wash place! People like visual examples, so make sure they see how cars look when detailed vs just taken thru a drive place. Awesome restoration! I'm going to do the same on my E36 as well. Your headlights lens are glass or plastic ones? Mines are glass ones and they are waaaaayyyy worse than yours with a infinite amount of deep rock chips. Thanks for sharing
Amazing transformation! Looks awesome! I remember I did the sanding process many many years back on the headlamps of one of my old cars and my arms were burning like fire, lol.
Great job, they look like new ones. But I have question: how much time they gonna stay like that shining?? Because I'm afraid from the polish cout gonna fade after a month and you have to give it another cout to keep it shine like new .

Chromatic Auto Detailing yeah it’s weird cause the owner never cleaned the car because I found so many parking tickets from 2009 and the bodywork wasn’t clean at all. But now she’s so clean I clean her all the time. Polished it waxed it and ceramic coated it
Can’t beat an E36 - best shape they did imo. I’m still loving my 95 328i touring after seven years of owning. Don’t think my headlamps will polish tho - they’re glass hella units and so expensive to replace. I can live with a few blemishes it adds to the character of a 25 year old classic.

@@ChromaticGarage Hi pal. Thanks for the reply. I messed up a plastic headlamp as I used a 240 sanding paper. I had to repeat the process a few times using 400, 600, 1500, 2000, 3000 and 6000 grit sand paper. The 3000 and 6000 were trizac and even so that yellow didnt all come out so I used a 240 very gently but it left scratches. I will buy that drill kit and see if I can remend this. Its a spare set of headlamps for a Ford Focus. If it wasnt for those scratches, it would have came out perfect. But its part of the learning process. I was practicing on this headlamp because im polishing a black Ford Smax Tuesday and 1 headlamp is bad. Its how you learn sometimes..making mistakes. Lol
I'm so glad I found this channel I just wish it hadn't taken so long. I love your approach to not only the tasks but how you video them. Immediate huge fan.
Depending on how bad the scratches, pitting, etc., it's better to take off more material before cut/polish. I just did mine and I have some embedded gunk that won't come out without sanding.
Are those headlights supposed to wiggle/bounce so much? Whenever they're touched, they move around quite a lot. Mine don't move at all when I push them (more modern car though). It just seems like driving a car with headlights that can jump around so much is gonna bring some discomfort for other drivers (probably even illegal in some countries). Is that how it's supposed to be on this old E36, or is just damaged/broken mounts of this particular car?
Love your work! Are those headlights with plastic covers? In EU we have only glass covers afaik. It's easy to remove the cover, and clean the inner glass, as it gets foggy over time.
Amazing. I do have to say that after going the sanding method on at least 6 different cars, I skeptically tried the mothers mag and aluminum polish approach you see on the 'sweet project cars' channel. My god, took 3-4 min to remove the yellowing. How you do the PPF afterwards can of course vary like you said. I'm just done with sanding headlights. Give that method a try please. Would love to hear your thoughts. I wish I could post a photo here of my 50/50.

I've done my headlights with Clearcoat and finished with regular waxing and it lasts about 4 years before it's time to redo (as the Chris Fix video) . But that's for driving outside. If the car will be indoors as you say, I agree, finishing with just waxing is fine.
Came out great. But I feel like no matter what you do the plastic ones will fade and yellow away. Good thing there's plenty of glass headlights for the e36
