Transforming 26 Year Old BMW E36 Paint - Satisfying Paint Correction

- In this video we take the beat up paint on our 26 year old BMW E36 and transform it into something acceptable. Follow along as we work through all the paint correction steps in order to complete this satisfying transformation. The paint on the E36 was covered in every possible defect you can think of. Our goal was to create a finish that was in the realm of 80% better. I think we did just that.
Performing these types of details is one of my absolute favourite jobs, it really creates a blank canvas for us to start building this old BMW. Lots of new BMW E36 content coming soon!

I learned a lot about the compounding and polishing process when I tried it out on my car.
Now I understand what needs to be sanded and what can be removed from polishing alone.
I was a bit confused when I saw the microfiber pads on the chemical guys website, but this video really cleared things up for me.
Your cinematography especially on the FINAL INSPECTION is straight fire...great job on the detailing of this classic BMW...on point, the grass green on this car is blazing

i had 97 that was boston green, luckily it was garage kept its whole life so the paint was close to perfect. favorite color on a car since.

Just a tip for you, trims on an e36 come off so easily, it’s quicker to take off than tape up. This includes door handles, side trims, bumper trims, front indicators, side repeaters, sill covers. You can then treat the trims on a bench and let them absorb a plastic treatment like 101.

Great color. I owned the same in a 92 325is. I would’ve taken the front bumper off completely and the side trims. Easy enough on E36’s. Nice detail.

Thanks buddy! I genuinely believe FCC is the best dual action compound that exists and I dont think I will ever switch haha. I started using Meguiars for a small bit this year but it was a selfish choice to try and make more money. Griots for actual life.

Good job, many of those trim could have been removed as well. Also that big muffler on this little 318i is a bit ironic, the car would look a 1000% time better with a stock muffler. I love this green you really did well!
ArnaudShanghai thanks man! I didn’t want to break any of the clips. I find if there isn’t a great reason to take BMW trims off then they are best left. Doing a M3 body kit so I will definitely switch to a dual tipped system!
