- A selection of shots filmed on the 1 in 49 gradient between Grosmont and Goathland at the NYMR Steam Gala on the Saturday and Sunday of the event, held between 26th. and 29th.September 2024. Visiting engines were Westcountry Class No.34028 'Eddystone' from the Swanage Railway and 4953 'Pitchford Hall' from the Epping and Ongar Railway with recently arrived S160 No.2253 'Omaha' also making an appearance, unfortunately not solo in my video. 9F No.92134 was running as former Lickey Banker No.92079.
Apologies for the sound issues on the clip of 2392 at Esk Valley, I don't think the microphone was plugged in correctly. The video was originally uploaded on Sunday but there was a fault with playback of the first clip which has now been rectified. This version has an additional 'going away' shot of 4953 and 92134 which wasn't included in the original video.
Thanks to all involved with planning and running the Gala
Spot on Austin and all in fine voice.👍👍
Thanks David, yes indeed, very good performances from locos and crews
Excellent coverage of what looked to be an exceptional gala Austin. Well done. Regards, Dave.
Many thanks Dave, yes the railway have had a few problems lately but it was an excellent gala
Excellent video Austin. Some superb shots. Great selection of locations. Enjoyable watching. Kind regards C&A
Thanks, glad you liked it
Excellent coverage Austin and with a good variety of loco’s, looks like the weather certainly improved for your visit, cheers 👍
Many thanks Nige, good gala and decent weather over the weekend after the torrential rain on Thursday
It's a while since I watched one of your videos Austin. I remember them as being of the highest quality. This is no exception.🙂
Welcome back Keith! Thanks for watching, I'm glad you enjoyed the video
Great video sir, good to see lots of steam locos are out and about, especially see some visiting steam engines of course. Best wishes Josh
Thanks very much Josh, glad you enjoyed the video
Cracking opening shot Austin 👍Looks like you had a great time 🎥
Thanks Steve, yes two good, if tiring days
Wonderfull filming of the steam gala Austin, looks like a great avent, i just put up a video from NYMR the other day, not knowing the gala was on, after watching your video and the walk we did and looking at the map i now know some of the spots to film, thanks very much Steve .🎥
Cheers Steve, yes there are a good number of locations. Just let me know if you need any help with directions to any
@@acw71000 thanks Austin, have you got sorted 🤔 with your issues .
No Steve, I'm not bothering with it
Excellent footage there Austin, it was good to see you again? Repton sounded superb on the first clip
Cheers Andrew, yes good to catch up with you. Enjoyed Reptons performances
Glad to see the glitching issue was sorted.
Good to see the Southern and Western locos putting on a good showing. The Hall and Eddystone certainly didn't need any banking assistance!
The glitch was so annoying, it was down to the program I use to reduce the video file size and I usually check the video when it's been uploaded but being rather shattered after a long day I didn't this time. I agree the locos you mention didn't need assistance, I think the railway just wanted to add a bit of interest especially as the 9F was renumbered as a former Lickey Banker. Many thanks for watching
Super video Austin :)
Many thanks Simon
The Schools Class was one of the most difficult design challenges that any CME has faced… and the result is an absolute triumph. BTW they are fitted with very light fire hole doors which can be opened with just one finger… a blessing to any exhausted fireman.
That's amazing about the fire hole doors. I think Maunsell designed some fine locos but tends to be overlooked a little because of Mr.Bulleid. I do know that I just love the three cylinder beat of the Schools
@@acw71000 I was fortunate to have a ‘Driving and Firing Experience’ on Cheltenham. It was wonderful… ‘experiences last longer than things’
4:47 Seeing all the old bald heads sticking out the carriage windows made me laugh... if I was there, I'd be adding another to the tally of bald heads... LoL.
Not a lot to beat standing by an open window, bald or not😂
We‘re at the moment in Windermere
Welcome to wet GB John, can't believe you've left the warmth of Aus!
@@acw71000 we left on 5th August and returning on the 15th October, mostly sunshine in Austria, horrible in Switzerland and now in rainy lake diatrict
