    One of my main concerns is the paper clay tutorial you provided, it used joint compound which is usually toxic

    • @DannyMcFlyCosplay
      @DannyMcFlyCosplay  4 роки тому +14

      I highly doubt that a children's product that you can buy at a craft store is toxic.

    Love this video man. I am using it to try and make my own mask (Hollow knight helmet). How did you have the rubber band connected to the head for separating the two pieces?

    • @DannyMcFlyCosplay
      @DannyMcFlyCosplay  6 років тому +1

      Adorable Gaming there's a piece of wood at the top so it doesn't slide down and then just rubber bands on the sides of it. And magnets at the bottom edge

    • @AdorableGaming
      @AdorableGaming 6 років тому

      Another question. How do you make your paper mache mix? I see people use water and flour, but also some recommend using white glue and flour? What is it you use?

    • @DannyMcFlyCosplay
      @DannyMcFlyCosplay  6 років тому +2

      wallpaper glue and water, its cheap and durable

    • @AdorableGaming
      @AdorableGaming 6 років тому

      Thanks for the reply! I forgot to ask what mixture... 50/50 glue water? Also, when you cut the mask for putting it on your head, do you do this on the finished product? After you paper mache? After you paper clay it? Thanks so much for the videos.

    Wow, your work is so clean. Clean like fiberglass/bondo job. I will look more at your video. So overall it's rock hard and is it lightweight? You have really good tutorial here.

      Oh and do the paperclay grow mold over time using flour?

    • @DannyMcFlyCosplay
      @DannyMcFlyCosplay  7 років тому +6

      François Bellavance usually if its sealed properly its fine and shouldn't grow mols. its probably not as sturdy as a resin piece but very close.
      thanks for the compliments!

      @kornboy8262 7 років тому

      One thing I'm currently doing is that I'm watersealing my Pepakura with waterproff woodglue and then using garage wipes and textile hardener like Paverpol, Powertex orAmazing Fa-brick. The textile becomes as hard as fiberglass and retains some flexibility. It's not the cheapest though. After hardening, you can use your paper maché pulp or Bondo or whatever.

    Awesome! Did you have to fire the paper clay to harden it? Could air dry clay be used instead, or would it be too weak for wearing?

    • @DannyMcFlyCosplay
      @DannyMcFlyCosplay  3 роки тому +4

      paper clay is just a name, its not actual clay :D its basicly paper mache, so its just air dry

    • @DannyMcFlyCosplay
      @DannyMcFlyCosplay  2 роки тому +1

      to a certain degree, yes. If you also coat the inside with the filler primer, it will be waterproof, as long as its a continuous covering. Obviously dont submerge it in water, but rain or splash water will be fine.
