So many churches ❤ Also that was a great shot of the old water tower. The creek is picture perfect and what a nice entrance to the old cemetery. The ending of the videos cracks me up! 😊
@@TravelwithaWiseguyI enjoyed seeing the cows checking you out. They are a curious animal, and will walk over and see what you are up to. While growing up on the farm, it never failed that if your job at hand took awhile to get done, that I would have an audience of dairy cows or feeder pigs. And sometimes both! One milk cow named Jez would e ven look over your shoulder, and the hogs would try to mess with the tools and the parts. Sometimes an audience is not a good thing! Another wonderful video of a great small town. They all have such character, and their own wonderful attributes. Those small country towns just win my heart. Must just be that old country boy in me.
@@TravelwithaWiseguy It was fun that they cared and trusted us humans enough to check out my work. But sometimes it is like the old timers saying, "Too many cooks spoil the broth". Especially when those pigs would try to snitch tools or parts!
Looks like a really nice town. I love little places the most and that's why I continue to live in one. The cemeteries are full of history. I know as many residing there as in the town itself. Nice video. Thanks for that.
Sounds like some interesting places - I'll see what I can do but I'm not sure when I'll be back in that area. I filmed a bunch of stuff a few weeks ago that I'm working on.
Thank you for making this video of SWC MO. I lived there for about a year while in 1st grade and went to Pioneer School South of town. Our teacher was Chief Culver and it was the typical one room school house with all of the grades in one room. I'll never forget that there were only two girls in the first grade and I learned to read there. Years later, my parents and I moved back there from CA and I went to school at McDonald County High School in Anderson, got married and moved away, but came back to raise my kids there. My husband was the Police Chief there for 3 1/2 years. We then moved to Gravette, AR which is a great little town you might check out. At one time, it held a world record for the most churches per capita.
Coach, your probably not gonna believe this, but here goes. Any of you old timers remember in the 1960's when the town leaders threw live turkeys/chickens/ducks off of one of the downtown buildings for people to catch during Thanksgiving/Christmas holidays? Try that now a days and you would probably get sued :)
Nice tour of the corner of MO. Looking on Google Maps, just south of town is a marker for the three states border. Then the highway looks to cross from MO into AR for about 200', then crosses into OK. Geographical oddity...
Lived not far from that marker. Jay, Oklahoma address, Maysville, Arkansas phone number and did most of my grocery shopping in Southwest City at Dave's Supermarket. That was about 37 years ago.
Been through there so many times and have never seen that town. I have relatives in the Purdy-Monett area and others in Springfield. I'll have to make a side trip sometime. I think Honey creek runs across the corner of Quapah tribal land in Oklahoma. Good history lesson. By the way I think one of the Doolin gang (Bill Doolin possibly) was involved in the bank robbery gone bad in Coffeyville Kansas.
I grew up in SWC and was such a memorable place to live. My brother and I used to trap behind the cemetery, down the hill and around the pond. I remember when the bell was placed at the school and we used to own the meat processing plant. We would haul hay in the summer and swim in honey creek at night and I also remember the dairy queen across from the ball park where we would get ice cream after ball practice. Such fond memories. Wish it could all be the same as it was. Everyone knew everyone and the adults seemed to always look after all the kids.
Good job on this video Brother. I knew we had to watch to find out exactly which town, though I should have known by your description. Remembering that Dad used to regularly attend the Southwest City Livestock Auction during the latter years of his life.... Enjoyed the tour tremendously my Friend, looking ahead to the next one on Sunday!! 😁👍
I like all the elements of this video. I noticed all the churches. This looks like a nice little town with a beautiful setting on the creek. I always watch to the end to see the animals and your bloopers. 😁 Thanks!
You are near where I grew up, and to where I returned when I retired. I have learned so much from your videos, even though I grew up here, and now live here. Thank you for all the work and then sharing.
I suspect the one building mid block had to be one of the oldest business building in town. The members of the bovine greeting committee seemed to welcome you John. I can hear the local fishermen bragging about going to check out their honey.
I managed a grocery store in Grove. We we weary to take SW CITY checks, many non-residents would open accounts and they were notoriously bogus. Love the town, but the country views is the true gem. Love the old Indian traces too
Enjoy seeing small town, big heart American cities. Looking for a place to retire where I'm not bothered by folks knowing my business as I'm not a law breaker or troublesome. Heck just mught open a pool/snooker tables beer bar and small grill cafe for the local men to use as an oasis from time to time.😊😇
Kind of odd.... Town in Missouri, that doesn't look like a town in Missouri. We look forward to your new changes (we really do). Thank you for posting, be good, be safe (very strange, 78 degrees and rain here) !!
Coach, how long are you going to torture us with that beard. At first I thought it looked so cool but now its venturing into Bigfoot territory and I am starting to feel uneasy and somewhat leery......😉
A NICE LOOK, HERE! I MANAGED TO GO NORTHBOUND FROM HERE, TAKING MO STATE HWY 43 TO JOPLIN! NORTH FROM JOPLIN , TO ITS NORTH END AT US 54, IT COULD BE CONSIDERED A RURAL SUPERHIGHWAY! There were churches EVERYWHERE! Haha I like to have a little bonus at the end for the people who watch all the way through :)

Hey, one of my friends have a church in that place. They're very nice and my classmate
Sure is a neat town. That waterfall is awesome! Thanks for sharing.
Glad you're back on small towns. But ghost towns are my favorite. Great job
Thank you - I’ll have some new ghost towns next Thursday 😊👻
Never been to Southwest City , but I grew up in that general area. Lots of interesting small towns.

There’s always something interesting to learn about in these small towns 😊
Years ago I used to haul corn into the feed mill there, it was a very old mill. The owners were very nice people. Thanks for Sharing. 😊
I enjoyed the short time I spent there - interesting little spot!
We live in Tiff City. Just North on Hwy 43
Hey Coach.I like the stills around the 2;50 mark and the drone over the old water tower.
Thank you! Always nice to be able to find some old pictures of the town!
Headed to Rolla Missouri tomorrow.
I have a roll top desk that was bought in Oklahoma when it was stilll the Indian territory. Before Oklahoma was a state.
I used to sell to c-stores some 15 years ago and stopped here monthly, glad to see you covered the bank robbery.
Pretty cool.
Hey! We love your small town 2:42 . Can you do a video on Seneca Mo, Tiff City Mo, Wyandotte Ok, or Quawpa Ok? Thanks for all the work you do!

That’s correct - and I actually have a future video where I go to that marker 😊
Lived not far from that marker. Jay, Oklahoma address, Maysville, Arkansas phone number and did most of my grocery shopping in Southwest City at Dave's Supermarket. That was about 37 years ago.
As kids we would sit on top of the marker and get our pictures taken showing we were in three states at once! 😂
I also went to HS with Dave Collingsworth who started that grocery store.

You are correct about Coffeyville - where they met their match!

Great video. I grew up in SWC until 6th grade when we moved to Grove,OK. Still have family living there and still get over that way once in awhile.

❤Super cool video of our hometown. Now I’m intrigued to watch your videos! Thanks for capturing our little south west corner in Missouri.
Thanks for watching! Interesting town you have there!
It is a nice quiet town, I have been through it a few times
Wonderful video. I grew up just northeast of there. Thanks for all your amazing videos.

Glad you enjoyed it!
Thank you. Forgot all about that town. Nice to see that it's flourishing.
It's probably easy to not think about it since it's almost in two other states!

Southwest City School, part of McDonald R1 school district, is an awesome place to teach. I have been blessed by the people in this town.
Hey, you found the playground equipment!
Haha yes!
That is fantastic. Again, the music and editing are just so smooth.

thanks for the vid.. Shockers vs Memphis at 1:30!
