This is a question I get at least every month. I have many clients who have successfully changed careers later in their age to being a pilot.
My name is Keith D'Mello and I am the #1Airline Pilot Interview Preparation coach in Canada. I've helped over 200 pilots get hired at large airlines and regionals very quickly with a high score. I cover pilot behavioral and technical interview questions.
In addition, I provide the following pilot exam courses to help you pass. They include:

This is a question I get at least every month. I have many pilot clients who have successfully changed careers later in their age to being a pilot.
Most of them are in their 40's and 50's and are now flying passengers for a living.

Hey Keith. I’m in the same boat as your mentioned friend. Been a journeyman welder for a while now. Turned 40 this year and now I’m 50 hours away from getting my commercial license. Hope to get to at least to the right seat of a 737 some day. Thanks for posting this video. Gives me even more confidence that I’ll succeed at achieving my dream
Thanks for watching. What a coincidence that one of my friends is a welder turned pilot ad well. You can do it!
Me too bro. I'm 41 and about to write me CPL! Go old guys!
You motivated me sir ❤
This is getting me motivated.
May I know how much totally costs to get you the final commercial license plus training costs? Thanks
My personal take is the earlier you learn, the better. The training and work schedules play hell on your physical and mental condition; aviation is a young person's game. You need good vision, good concentration, rapid reactions and strong physical and mental endurance. Your health is a big thing: can you pass and maintain a First Class Flight physical?
I'm 25, a biotech professional. And hell yeah I will fly. Saved 50% required money and preparing for DGCA exams
If your arms and legs are long enough to give full movement of the controls and you can pass the medical then you are NOT too old to learn to fly.
Thanks for the video Keith, so I have time lol I thought I was too old at 30. Even if your 40+ , flying for an airline is a life experience.
I didn't get my first real flying job until 27. You are young.
That is very much motivating video. Thanks…❤
I’m goin on 41 this August but but I’ve been doing helicopter maintenance for about 18 years and I got a PPL about 8 years ago and stopped a long time ago because it’s too expensive and still have some debt. But I’m really getting the itch to go all the way this time with flying but my concern is going into more debt to pay for the training. I could try and get creative and do it by networking with guys I know that have planes and maybe also trade work for flight time but I’m afraid that may be a slower process.
And what if you just want to be a paid pilot? Like flying feeders for FedEx? Float planes in the Caribbean? Things along those lines? Just needs to pay decent. Not expecting a $250k/yr legacy captain job with delta.
Thank you, simple and meaningful!!
Thank you I'm glad it was useful
Keith. Great advice. I think you are doing a great job. Keep up the great work. Having said that, there is negativity out there. Pilots, they are a unique bunch.
Yes sir, every time I level up in the social media space the hate comes with it. Thanks for the support!
Informative as well as motivated video who start their carrier after 30..❤
Hey keith, I'm 28 years old and have booked my first introductory flight lesson but my aim is to become a Commercial pilot license. Im working full time in IT AND haved saved till my PPL. Hopefully will save fully for CPL. Thank you for your video.
Enjoy it! Take a lot of pics for this memory
Sir Your content is really great thank you for sharing I have a question regarding same
" My brother is studying in (+2) with biology so what can he do to become a pilot because when we searched on net mostly it said that you need a PCM degree in your (+2) to become eligible to sit is dgca exam and get other licenses. Also it said you need to complete certain courses for such situation can you tell me what are those courses. Sir we really need help from here my brother is really passionate to become a pilot but is afraid to think further because he is not fulfilling the eligibility criteria please help!
I’m 40, started training at 23, licenced at 27 and still can’t find an airline job after 13yrs…
How
You need to get out and Network then!!
bs youre a truck driver
Great great great informative video.. atleast u thought of making such an enthusiastic video keith... great going man....thank u soooooo much
Thanks for watching and I'm glad you found it useful and entertaining.
I was worrying constantly about starting my pilot training at 24 thinking that most who start by 18 have a huge headstart and would have high positions before hitting 30. Ive decided to go for it anyway.
Thanks
Welcome
what about starting at 60 i dont think I want a airline pilots job I have heard cargo but im thinking missions and as a fulltime CFI catering to verterans in Canada. the costs aree freakin stupid lol the fuel and parts maintenance alone change daily so in one year your flight school ( neverr go down ) but will fluctuate radically due to the maintenence costs and fuel. Because my goal isnt to be a airline pilot at my age would it still be worth it?? is there opportunity
if you have money, and don't expect to make a return of investment at that age, then no one has the right to stop you from pursuing what you want.
Hello Keith!! Nice to see you. Are there any Online courses or certifications that can be helpful If completed before we start out PPL and CPL journey in the mean time !!?? I have almost an year to start from now .
Hey good question. I would 100% do the pstar course which is needed before you go first solo. Check out my 100% free course here to help you prepare. All you have to do is memorize the answer. All the best.
