Lots to consider, but if you can make it work, there’s nothing preventing you from starting your flying career at 30 and having a successful 30yr in it. As long as you are getting into aviation for the right reasons👍🏻
Aviator Inspirations Alright!! I only say that cuz there’s a diploma program near me that would give me 1500 hours with an atpl! I takes 3 years to complete
I’m 45 too and started college for private pilot ground school in 2019 and dropped then came back in 2021 and thinking about dropping again. I’m not sure if I’m being realistic with all this considering my age, zero hours, cost, experience and ultimate goal of becoming a cargo pilot. :-(
Making a career change at that age is definitely risky, but as we come out of Covid, the pilot shortage is going to come back with a vengeance, so I think this could be an opportunity to get a job with low hours. If you have the finances to complete the training or access to a load, it could be worth it depending on job availability in your country.
Q: I'm 45 years. I was wondering if I should get my private pilot license? Just writing this now, I think I would. I think getting a private pilot license would be cool. The airport I would be training from is 10 mins from my home and it would only cost me $8,000 dollars. Just the experience and doing it would be exciting. I'm currently working as a truck driver for small trucking near-by, 10 min away from home as well. Already done a introductory flight and got hooked. I like to travel and fly. I don't know about if I would take it any further because of age. But, just the process along would be challenging and fun.
Most definitely! If you want to fly for fun it’s highly rewarding, fun, and a great hobby. I made a video about training in your 30/40’s so check that out for more insight. I have had several students who learned to fly for fun and they never regretted it.
@@AviatorInspirations thanks, bro. Very encouraging. Brainstorming more. I was thinking CFI if possible. I know this may stretch me but, maybe just fly regional aircraft only. If that does happens. In my lifetime, I truly became an global, international transportation Professional. Going forward, they say "if you stop learning, you stop living". And that is not me! I have to always be stretching myself, stay out of my comfort zone, and continue to learn things in life. That is me. Thank you for responding.
@@AviatorInspirations also, just to let you know. I have been watching " aviation 101" on UA-cam. He gave me a lot brainstorming ideas to think about my future aviation career.
That’s great! Most pilots are the same way, we like to expand ourselves and push to learn something new. There are definitely career paths available to you at your age, even air ambulance pays a great wage.
Personally, if I had a choice, I would do it in the US. Europe had many airlines file for bankruptcy in 2021, so there are a ton of crew without jobs. Canada is still recovering from the pandemic, but in 2022 there will be a pilot shortage. However in the US, they are offering HUGE signup bonuses for pilots and you basically have a pick of any airline. In Canada the pay incentive is non-existent
I am 47 years old and I am an EASA private pilot. I started studying for my commercial pilot license because I want to become a VFR flight instructor. Maybe I will also study for the instrument rating and the multi-engine rating. Unfortunately I'm too old to become an airline pilot.
That’s amazing, you can definitely still have a great career in aviation. My recommendation is to not go for the airlines, but to stay on the regional level and make captain there, and you will still have a good career until 65, and then flight instruct if you still want to keep flying 🙂
@@AviatorInspirations thank you for your suggestion. Unfortunately the European aviation job market offers fewer opportunities than the American one, so due to my age I have no chance of being hired by a regional airline. I'll be a flight instructor in the Aeroclub, that's okay.
The low pay is primarily in Canada, in the USA pilots are being offered HUGE sign on bonuses ($40k+) as their pilot shortage is a lot worse than ours. So if you have the means to work in the US, that’s where the money is at. In Canada, 38 isn’t too old, but do it only for the passion, as you won’t have enough earning years left to save for a proper retirement
@@AviatorInspirations ok, thanks.. I have a passion for flying, about to start working with Delta soon. I will work on my private pilot license now and see what I can do next. Thanks again

Im a civil engineer here in philipines, almost 4 yrs working in the construction industry, but this past 2 year have a sudden change of heart, I also want to become an airline pilot, i know it harder and time consuming that i think as i will going back to zero. Is age 28 too late too start in aviation sector?considering im a female
Thanks for the question! It definitely is NOT too late to start, however you have an advantage with your career that you can setup a financial plan to pay for flight training. I would recommend working and training at the same time, but I’m not sure what options you have in the Philippines. If you come to Canada to train, that will be more risky and challenging as you will be quitting your career and will be relying on savings. Unfortunately Canada doesn’t give student loans to international students, but they do once you become a permanent resident. If you can get an engineering job in Canada, that would be best, and then transition to flying.
Combining this video with your other video about salaries, the answer is 'yes'. I think when people make the question 'Am I too old to become a pilot?', they want to know if they are too old to become a pilot, while keeping their income. I cannot imagine a whole lot of people in well stablished careers going back to 20,000 or 30,000 per year just to build up hours and without any guarantee that they are going back to the level they were when they decided to become a pilot..
The people who have asked me this question are either not happy with their career, don’t have a career, or it’s been their long dream to fly. Anytime you start a new career you start at the bottom, I would be curious if you know of any careers that start in the 6 figures. So it’s not just unique to aviation. From all your comments on my channel you seem to have some frustration with aviation. My channel was created to help future pilots considering this career get the necessary knowledge before making the leap. It’s not a perfect career, nor do I say in any of my videos that’s it’s the greatest thing since sliced bread. All careers have their pros and cons, and everyone out there has to make their decision if this is right for them.
@@AviatorInspirations Do not say your channel=aviation. It is a fake dichotomy to say that you either get 6 figures or 30,000. I don’t take any of your comments as frustration, I love to share and debate ideas, it’s a public forum and I take none of it personally. You challenged my ideas and I challenged yours, that’s a normal process. There are many illusions people have about this profession, and although I do love what I do, by no means is it perfect, and I have frustrations just like people have in their professions. I would not trade this career for any other because there is something amazing about staring down at the earth, flying an airplane, and getting paid for it. And that was my whole goal of starting this channel, to show the real truth of being a pilot, and let everyone make up their minds about it. I disagree with the pay, and several other things, but I also can’t change it single handedly if other pilots are willing to do the job “for free” just to get a chance to fly. I have never supported this approach, as well as paying for your own type ratings, because nobody should have to pay to get a job, that is the responsibility of the company that hires you.
It did for me, because what matters above all else is the love for flight. If you go for a fam flight and don’t come back down wanting to go again then you have your answer. hello i've seen your video about turbulence and i Also undedstand what causes it, but i have a question: I really do want to become a pilot and for me it seems like the best job in the world, but whenever i fly i always get really "anxious" and nervous and maybe even "scared" in turbulence (even if it is light turbulence) so i wanted to ask you if you think i would be able to get used to turbulence and lose these feelings or this problem would stop me from becoming One? thank you!
When I started flight training I would always get air sick after every flight, but with time I got used to it and learned how to not get air sick. With training and knowledge you shouldn’t have a problem overcoming the fear of turbulence, since there is nothing to fear at all, it’s just uncomfortable.
@@AviatorInspirations thank you ao much for the fast response!! yes i Also got to know that some people got a little sick in fheir first flights but then got used to it but my real concern is if i would really be able to totally "not care" about turbulence and maitain calm like it was nothing? yes i know and i Also know im never in danger but it just gets me nervous and a little scared and i would absolutely love to overcome this problem, hence why i just wanted to confirm with you if i actually can overcome this. thank you again
Tnx. Ur video was very informative. What do u suspect is the reasoning behind some military branches have a 32 age limit for entering their flight program? I mean, shouldn't it only matter that u can pass a flight physical?
Like I mentioned in the video, yes it’s never too late! You might never be captain on a 737, unless you fly right up until 65, but there are lots of avenues based on your lifestyle preferences.
No base salary for instructors, at least from my experience, they are only paid for each hour they teach. When I was teaching I had 6 students a day (2hrs each) and that’s 12hrs a day, but you only got paid for the time in the air (1.2hrs) plus a small ground briefing. So you don’t get paid for the full 12hrs you are there, but for the 6.6hrs you flew.
Your rating is taught by a class 1 instructor usually, so unless there are many students doing their instructor rating, then yes it’s better to do it at a quieter school. To teach, it’s best to teach at a school with few instructors but many students. That’s why small towns are usually best instead of big cities. Also, sometimes a school will give you a job if you finish your rating with them, so that’s also an option.
@@AviatorInspirations when there are lot of students doing instructor rating, it takes more time to complete the rating and have less focus on individuals ?
I have masters in electrical engineering from kth Sweden ... is their any aviation career easy entry for me ... any diplomas I should do to get in easier ? Apologies for asking a zero research question but will appreciate expert opinions
There are no easy entries into aviation in Canada. Your resume is based on hours, so if you are over 2000hrs it will be easy finding a job. Remember you also need to have a work visa or permanent residency to legally work in Canada.
Hello sir..Like all your videos But I have a doubt that do major airlines in the USA which are united airlines, American airlines, Delta airlines do they hire pilots who are 33 years of old with regional experience and a bachelor degree in something.....?? Can you Plzz reply sir...?...
Hello sir, Hope you are doing well. Can you please tell me is there any age limitation of being a Pilot in Canada? Right now I am 20 and starting my Bachelors soon. After my Bachelors I want to start my flight Training in Canada and I will be 24-25 years at that time. Will it be a good decision to start the training at that age? I am doing the Bachelors as a backup.
If this helps, my Uncle is a Regional Captain who started training at age 27 with no college experience, he told me anything after 25 is gonna be a bit late so you're pretty safe. The fact that you hold a Degree is gonna ease your Job Interviews. Just try to maintain a 3.0 GPA from your Degree and you're fine.
It’s never too late to start training, just depends how far you want to go in your career and where you want to fly. Most important is figuring the finances for the training costs.
hello man how are you doing? im current living in uk i been looking for flights schools here im 28 years im planing to start at age 30 my atpl or before if i can manege to a modular so im saving maney where did you take your atpl ? i as thinking about the mpl program that tui have in uk cae generation easyjet also have this program but im not sure if it good ideia because i afts i finish ill need to work for then for 4 year and with a salary of 32k or 35k not sure but i think if i do it by my self after i fnish i can get more right ?
Yes do the program that you can afford and can give you flexibility after training. Unfortunately in the UK you have to do both sets of exams (UK and EASA), since you are no longer part of the EU. Alternatively you can look into cheaper schools like in Lithuania. So I suggest calling all the schools you are interested in, talking through all their options/time frame/financing options and then picking the school that makes most sense for you. Yes you probably don’t want to lock yourself at easyjet for 4years, unless you have the means to survive for that long time at a low salary.

Hello bro ,I like your Video . I am a pilot in India and I have about total 1000 hrs flying time . I have 600 hrs on King Air C90 Turboprop hrs, can I apply for job in Canada ,will I get job .?
You will first need to convert your license to a Canadian one, I just released a video on that, so take a look for the process. Next you will need to apply for permanent residency in Canada and get a work permit, otherwise you will not be able to work in Canada legally.
It’s too old to grind it in the airlines, but you can still have a successful aviation career up to 65yrs. Flying charter, medevac, corporate, still lots of opportunities👌🏻
God I wonder how COVID-19 has changed the context of this video. I'm not sure starting a career in your mid-30's would make sense now. There must be a lot of out of work people right now.
It doesn't make sense and I've consulted several airline captains. If you start in your mid 30's to 40, you will never advance to captain of a major airline. I missed the boat, but being realistic with yourself is always a wise move.
Depends on what country! In Canada yes you can still make captain before 50: Flair, Air Canada, Sunwing etc. In the US maybe not if you are in your 40’s. But pilots can fly until 65, so it all depends on how early you make captain, not IF you make captain. World is in a huge pilot shortage right now!
@@AviatorInspirations You're correct, I'm from the US. I guess I could become a captain in certain countries, in fact, I don't think Aerosucre requires a pilot's license to fly their aircraft...😆
But you also don’t need to be captain at a legacy to make a good living. There are king air pilots making $150k/yr and home every night. The US is definitely the best place in the world to be a pilot right now. I’d be there in a heartbeat if I could get a visa 😅

You can get access to student loans or bank loans
@@AviatorInspirations Can I get For full course funding From PPL to CPL?
Only for CPL, not PPL, that you have to pay out of pocket
hello
i've seen your video about turbulence and i Also undedstand what causes it, but i have a question:
I really do want to become a pilot and for me it seems like the best job in the world, but whenever i fly i always get really "anxious" and nervous and maybe even "scared" in turbulence (even if it is light turbulence) so i wanted to ask you if you think i would be able to get used to turbulence and lose these feelings or this problem would stop me from becoming One?
Can we start piloting at 38 and get job?? Is it possible??
Like I mentioned in the video, yes it’s never too late! You might never be captain on a 737, unless you fly right up until 65, but there are lots of avenues based on your lifestyle preferences.
I don't want to make it a career but I'm growing more interested in flying as a hobby.
Good fun as a hobby too
i want to take pilot training plz how???
I'm Franklin.
14 , I want to become an airline pilot
You have come to the right channel then 🙂
@@AviatorInspirations thanks
A doubt. The $25 salary for instructors is the only pay they get ? Or there also a monthly pay apart from the hourly pay ?
No base salary for instructors, at least from my experience, they are only paid for each hour they teach. When I was teaching I had 6 students a day (2hrs each) and that’s 12hrs a day, but you only got paid for the time in the air (1.2hrs) plus a small ground briefing. So you don’t get paid for the full 12hrs you are there, but for the 6.6hrs you flew.
@@AviatorInspirations thank you for sharing valuable information. Have a great day! :)
@@AviatorInspirations it is better to do instructor rating in a flight school which has good number of student ?
Your rating is taught by a class 1 instructor usually, so unless there are many students doing their instructor rating, then yes it’s better to do it at a quieter school. To teach, it’s best to teach at a school with few instructors but many students. That’s why small towns are usually best instead of big cities. Also, sometimes a school will give you a job if you finish your rating with them, so that’s also an option.
@@AviatorInspirations when there are lot of students doing instructor rating, it takes more time to complete the rating and have less focus on individuals ?
When pilots are retired? And what's life of commercial pilot job??? Sir please reply me please sir
Hello sir..Like all your videos
But I have a doubt that do major airlines in the USA which are united airlines, American airlines, Delta airlines do they hire pilots who are 33 years of old with regional experience and a bachelor degree in something.....?? Can you Plzz reply sir...?...
I am interested to become pilot , but my age is 39years , is it possible to become a pilot training?
Anything is possible, just depending on your personal situation: finances, family, access to training etc
Hello Sir,Now I am 27 year old If i start training in 29 After saving money I have options in Airlines or not
Yes of course! Pilots can fly until 65, so you have many decades left to fly.
@@AviatorInspirations Can i get job in Airline After age 30.
You can get it anytime you meet the criteria, regardless of age
Most important is figuring the finances for the training costs.
wt is the cost of become pilot??

hello man how are you doing?
im current living in uk
i been looking for flights schools here
im 28 years
im planing to start at age 30 my atpl or before if i can manege to a modular
so im saving maney
where did you take your atpl ?
i as thinking about the mpl program that tui have in uk
cae generation easyjet also have this program
but im not sure if it good ideia because i afts i finish ill need to work for then for 4 year and with a salary of 32k or 35k not sure
but i think if i do it by my self after i fnish i can get more right ?
Yes do the program that you can afford and can give you flexibility after training. Unfortunately in the UK you have to do both sets of exams (UK and EASA), since you are no longer part of the EU. Alternatively you can look into cheaper schools like in Lithuania. So I suggest calling all the schools you are interested in, talking through all their options/time frame/financing options and then picking the school that makes most sense for you. Yes you probably don’t want to lock yourself at easyjet for 4years, unless you have the means to survive for that long time at a low salary.
Hello Sir, Thank you for making this video, your channel is most inspiring channel, I am 37 year and I have business but aviation is my dream so i decide to start my ATPL course from MFC from this August intake!! I hope you will post more video because it is very helpful for beginners
Are you from India?
Did you start the ATPL at mfc. I am 36 years and planning to join by February 2023.
How has it been? Have you found a job already?
Lovely like it
Hello bro ,I like your Video .
Love to be are pillot
Hes doing it, so can you
If there is a will there’s a way 💪🏻

Sir iam a women in INDIA and I want to get 1000hours flying experience how can I get???
One big question:CAN A CABIN CREW BECOME A PILOT?
Yes why not!? That’s not uncommon either, but can be challenging with our schedules.
1.25x speed is normal speaking
That’s why that function is there 😉
Truck drivers being away from home longer but the pays are slavery rate
So 44 is too old it sounds like. Why is this my life?
I dont have enough money but one day i gonna fly like bird...
Got flowed to AC? congrats
Nope not AC, but thanks😁
