Have to test those in an enclosure to make any sort of valid judgement regarding audio performance.
Yes we will put them in box and run them all kind of HZ tuned so on
LIFE IN SPEED Mike Angels Awesome to hear that. We will be looking forward to your next video 👍
LIFE IN SPEED Mike Angels Thanks for your reply.
Yeah a test baffle would be great not just a little box. Since it is a midrange test having huge baffle step loss kills any validity to all the speakers tested.
The PA165-8 makes a very decent little electric guitar amp speaker. It has the same peaking response in the same places as a typical 12" guitar speaker, and it has decent efficiency for a small driver.
so those speakers are usually used in home theater systems in two way or three way boxes for a full range of sound
When you goto parts express, and check out the reviews for the dayton, the main one that got my attention is the guy who replaced his blown speakers in his swr henry the 8th , so 8 of those will definatley be noticable to say the least.
When you get to 10" to 12" woofers be sure to test the Goldwood heavy duty
(Del Mar series) the other Goldwood are pretty bad but the heavy duty is a really good woofer. My personal diy go to for both 4ohm & 8ohm applications using between 100 to 250w.
Do you use class D amplifier for your midrange speakers or do you use class AB amplifiers?
great channel
I wanna see what happens if I put one of these in some ancient home stereo speaker cabs from the 60s. They actually seem quite close to the recommended dimensions and tuning! Maybe set a random compression horn on top too?
They are meant to replace home stereo speaker that are blown or for custom home audio builds
Nice now waiting for you to put the in an enclosure for a fair and equal comparison
Please test the Rockville RM pros they are actually pretty good and come in several sizes, and priced great.
Hi Mike, where can I buy some orion 6.5 mids please...
The specifications are different from those in real life, ok, subscribed, it is difficult to find youtubers with that mentality, pity that where I live it is impossible to find many of the products they evaluate, but I enjoy the content the same, thank you very much!
What's the name of the song that you test the speaker
Salute!
i have dayton audio 8's in sealed enclosures in my doors in BOTH of my vehicles.i like them.......its all about the install too.dont forget that.sitting on the counter doesnt do anything for us or the company man.
Im going to build a 3 way speaker with 12 inch PA woofer, crossed at 800hz That will bring me insane midbass. Realistic down to 40 or 50 hz. I will have a separate subwoofer.
The Dayton Audio IS playing 9khz..... the problem is that you're looking at it as a midrange NOT a MIDBASS. Though the frequencies don't APPEAR prevalent they are still there. Just not as the focus of this speakers attention. More study Mike. Doing ok, BUT....... more to study. Turn the volume down THEN run a 9k test tone. It's a midbass which needs to be filled with a midrange & tweeter. It works well in a 3way component setup. It's DEFINITELY not a woofer though.
Yep we said almost same thing )
why you not putting them in the box anymore
Looks grate for 80hz to 2000khz
In an enclosure it would probably have a nice punchy bass freeair kills the bass on a mid woofer, I've had a pair of 6.5" standard woofers for bookshelf project and freeair they sounded awful as soon as I dropped it in a box it woke up and started making great rich bass. But I guess if you test them all freeair it's still a apples to apples....
Parts express sells Dayton audio as home audio speakers
Hey Mike I get you don't like how the speaker terminals are designed but you have to remember that particular speaker was not design for cars
Dayton sounds like 9,000hz to me. Doesn't play up there well, but it's there. Definitely designed to be accompanied by some tweets.
Midbass on the Dayton sounds solid tho...even in free air. Should tighten up and extend nicely in an enclosure.
Yep bass on that on free air so clean no mechanical noice its quite impressive)
Orion( the legend) vs 18 sound..🥰🥰...please
🇹🇹.... in da house
Do some selenium horns comparisons
A price of a pair of loudspeakers for instance is $2000. It can be considered as a good one. So, $1000 for one piece. After a transportation, store, and taxes $500 remains. $250 goes to manufacturer’s profit. $100 goes to a baffle and a crossover (yes, $2k loudspeaker crossover costs about $20). $50 goes to an AMT tweeter (a bulk price), and $30 goes to a mid range driver. So, in the best(!) case a woofer driver price is $70. In a good loudspeaker. So, yes $40 is enough.
Great channel mike. Hope you dont spend all your money on baffles and boxes, its not gonna make one speaker sound better than the other, i think you do a fine job as is.
Dont get your watch close to the magnet mike lol
🇻🇨🇻🇨 watching
LMAO haha dayton audio for the win, haha a hundred bucks less too.im so happy i run daytons
Also how bout some rock music to really show if the speakers have any harsh dynamics within their usable range.
Its hard to find copyright free musics
@@LIFEINSPEED oh i see. Man i hope you keep the channel going for a long time, there is always gonna be people trashing the channel because they think they know everything, but every one ive commented to, didnt know anything about car audio, all they could do is babble about mathmatics and try to tell me something i learned in highschool lol. I love the test you run, the reason i asked about the music is because i listen to metal, which makes my speakers hiss really bad even at lower sound levels, i was just wondering if all the midranges do that with metal or rock.
Ill try to finde some good music and yes I do have some speaker itll be good for metal and Rock musics
so much for putting it in a box
Wouldn't want it to do 9k lol. Not much to judge without a box.
Audio tech thousand Watts war zone 6 and 1/2 800 w 100 plus db the war zone pro 8 1,000 w speaker the war zones are orange and black and audio text of blue with a tweeter with a crossover
Compare a prv and a timpano
Yep soon
@@LIFEINSPEED Tell me you have an 8" Arnold in there:))) ,
I take prv all day
that bass isn crazzzyyy
Yep open air bass lol
Sanitize every box man
Stay safe 👍💯🔥
Noooo not ton of bass to thr 18sound lol not made for that midrange i think
Yes its midrange and it can handle no bass at all
@@LIFEINSPEED i have 2 of them in a sealed box playing from 125hz up to 6500khz i think and they get extreamly loud and clean and im running a taramps 3k on them no mercy at all baby thay can handle it . Theybalso come in midbass version but im not sure they come in 8inch but in 10s there the beast the 10mb600
Your listening test is useless. You're probably hearing the cone breakup resonance peak, which will make the driver sound more nasal and rolled off than it actually is. This has to be addressed in the crossover. Also, if you're trying to use an 8" driver up to 9Khz, you have no idea what you're doing. Typically, you should cross over at 1700Hz. That can be pushed a little, but it will have poor power response off axis.
Thas a no
...don't understand what ur talking about ???
You clearly don't have a clue.
this type of test is absolutely worthless.
This channel makes no sense
