Thanks, Just in time i have been trying to explain /discuss this with a new Ford owner .( Ordered 2022 F-250 6.7 owner ) He came over from 187K on a Duramax. I see in Automotive News a major lawsuit has dropped on the CP4 Bosch Pump for RAM as a safety problem with a no start or stall. This may also migrate for Ford and GM owners. Lack of lubricity in the fuel and or poor filter maintenance maintenance. Lord you will be busy if they have to retro pumps with a new design and or add on a Ford Kit to stop it.
Lot’s of “water in fuel” comments which leads me to believe that, unless you are 100% certain your fuel is top notch, you should be running a fuel additive. Even if you are 100% certain of the fuel quality, still run an additive. The extra lubrication on the pump is pennies on the dollar for an out of warranty repair like this. Is this the reason or a factor on why these CP4’s are failing? Once I get my S&S DPK installed to protect from this problem, I’ll still run an additive.
Judging by the engine compartment, that appears to be a 6.7 of the F-650/F-750 variety equipped with air brakes. Since I've never had the pleasure (or displeasure???) of being in the engine compartment of one of these animals, tell me, is it honestly easier or harder to wrench on, compared to the F-250 to F-550 variety?
I’ve got a 2011 that just rolled over 100k miles. I have kept on top of fuel filter changes and I run hotshot secret edt. Do I still need a CP4 bypass kit?
Can it be a p0001 related to a cp4 failure?. I only have this code show up. Do I have to make this kind of checkpoint inspection to discard a cp4 failure?
@Dr Beechas Thanks for BabyZilla updates. These highly sought Big Bore Spread LS type clones need wider use in production vehicles. Little doubt aftermarket will step in as these type simple, pushrod, relatively inexpensive engines may be the pinnacle of ICE . For the next century perhaps
Its a crapshoot brother. Look at taylor rays brand fking new f350 dually he just sold back with only like 10k miles on it after the cp4 grenaded on a roadtrip pulling a toyhauler. Thats right. It grenaded at 10k miles, dealer wouldnt warranty it. Ended up covering it under warranty, most likely because he has half a million youtube followers. But he said it was like 12,000 to fix everything. Dealers arent warranting cp4s if they find water
If you get water in the system, it really dont matter. I've seen a couple guys go 1 million miles on a the stock cp4. But if you get bad fuel or water you wont get a mile.
And this is why I am going to be putting the disaster prevention kit on mine
Yes!!!!
I want one as well but until I can get I am running optilube xpd in every tank

I'm assuming the HPFP went out due to lack of lubrication from water in the fuel, according to the rust on the control valve?
That glitter paint is expensive hope I never get it

And this is why i like my 7.3 obs and 5.9 12v p pump. No junk cp4 pumps trash.

Dang makes me wonder if i need to invest in one of those disaster perevention kits you showed in one of your previous videos.
Y wldnt u
Better to spend $400 now than possibly $9000+ later.
@@PowerStrokeTechTalkwARod Do you know if a cp4 disaster prevention kit would void a warranty?
Id recommend you to check out the video we did, all your questions will be answered there & in the comments
@@PowerStrokeTechTalkwARod Ok, Thanks Sir. 👍👍👍
This must be why diesel buyers trade their trucks every year or other year to avoid this....
I'm wondering if a disaster prevention kit will mess with the stock warranty?
Cmonnnnnnn

U need 2 go thru the proper pinpoint testing for that code
Gravy train! Customer pay job!!!!!!!!
Is the gasket on the control valve reusable after checking it?
$15k Job Kaching….Here in California
Dump in a quart of atf in the fuel tank every other full fill up
So new pump, injectors, lines, basically the entire system.
6-7 grand?
Keep going....
That's 10k my freind.
I need to do this job how much does it cost
As Consumer Level Diesel fades from relevance. FoMoCo released 7.3 Godzilla gasoline V8 in 2020 for this very reason.
Now they have a 6.8L babyzilla too

What if there's low fuel pressure but no glitter paint metal flakes?
Gotta follow the pinpoint tests
At what milage/hrs are the CP4s typically failing?

What if it has rust ? My is rusty
Uhhh are these trucks new ? How in the freaking F did it rust so fast
What happens to raw metal when it's exposed to the atmosphere what happens to your rotors
@@PowerStrokeTechTalkwARod indeed but those get scraped and they exterior. That valve or thing was rusted inside
