Looks like Taurus MAY have upped their QC with these little .22's. I have a 94 stainless 4" 9-shot. It had a hard time getting thru 2 cylinders without binding up. The cylinder had a loose "wobble" that was fixed with a slice of soda can inserted into the cylinder bushing. I tried a lighter spring but got light strikes, so back to the factory spring. I popped off the side-plate and polished every metal-to-metal contact area, as well as the entire extractor rod and Mainspring pin. Shoots soooo smooth now. I wrote an article on it titled "Taurus 94 Trouble Shooting' at PerfectUnion.
Spring kit? You might be inviting light primer strikes. Liability wise I've been thinking of this revolver to put .22 shorts in. The least likely to kill someone.
Definitely true of 22 LR rimfire revolvers. I have a Smith & Wesson Air Lite 43C which is 22LR. Ammo makes a big difference & especially bulk 22 LR ammo like Remington / Browning have no fires. CCI ammo is better packaged & higher quality in individual plastic cases. My 43C has a very small footprint & weight goes 11.8 oz loaded. Its 1.88 inch long barrel takes some practice but I love the big white ball front sight. The drawback was the price.
Nice. I want a 942m but hard to find without paying S&W prices. The stock trigger isn’t bad. I’m working on a video about the trigger and replacing it and had to get a digital gauge since the one in the video only went to 8lbs. It’s been piling upwards to 11lbs most of the time. Thanks for stopping, watching, sharing and the comment. Stay safe out there
Should not be dry firing that 22LR rimfire revolver. Get snap caps if your going to be dry firing. Relatively cheap snap caps protect the striker. I do not dry fire ANY of my 22LR pistols in either semi auto or revolver unless there are snap caps loaded !
@@GLMontyWV We all know 22LR are finicky rounds anyway. Any degradation of the cylinder / striker means even less reliability. For an extra $5.00 snap caps are cheap protection.
Yeah, they’re hard to find. I initially wanted the 992, swappable cylinder from 22LR to 22MAG/WMR. They’re even harder to find. I’m hoping to find one one day, maybe even a longer barrel 3-4”. Thanks for stopping by and watching
I’d get a “spur less” model so the hammer doesn’t snag on something. Not sure which it is but something is better than nothing as long as you’re proficient with it. And I’d get something in at least 38spl
Dude you will not find any in Texas. Trust me, I have been looking all over. I thought I had found one when I called a store in Waco. Well I got ready to drive there but fortunately I called the next day before I left Houston. The guy told me it was the wrong gun that the person told me about the day before. Last week I went to gun brokers and thats how I was able to get the one I got. It did cost more for obvious reasons, but worth it. Am a Taurus kind a guy like that. I have the 605, and 856 defender already. I did attend SFA waaaaay back in the day.
After a short while, single action isn't nessecery.New trigger springs aren't nessecery after break in period.Same goes for the 856 & 605.Just wish I could find the 22 mag version.
I have the 22mag version and there are barely any reviews on it. I don't have much of a report because I only have 24 rounds through mine. I mainly picked it up to have a 22mag revolver in the collection and the ruger lcr 22mag revolver is pricey.
Thanks for doing this review! I am interested in this gun as a trainer for my center fire guns. It’s a lot cheaper to shoot. I subscribed! Would love to get an update on the trigger kit and what the final trigger pull weight is after you are done! Thanks and God bless you! Galloway precision makes a spring kit specifically for the Taurus 856, that might work better in this application? Take care my friend!
found a 941 which is essentially the same. Difference seems to be the 941 rear sight is a little more adjustable. Don't shy away if you come across the 941.
Great review
Thanks. Feel free to watch more of my vids and don’t forget to like and subscribe if you’re into doing that

AWESOME review , Im gonna have to keep my eyes out for one , Thank you pard .
Thanks. And you’re welcome
I want an ultralight model. Rimfire probably needs that heavy spring to reliably ignite rounds
Cool. More than likely

Dry firing a .22 isn’t good for it I’m sure you know and a few won’t kill it just letting others know 🤙🏽🤙🏽
😎
I've had one of these for a year and I shoot it better double action then single
That’s pretty much how I feel as well.
Just got the 942m. I like the stock trigger. I think mine is around 10 pounds. Way better than the old Taurus 94 triggers.

Am currently looking for one but cant seem to find them where I am in Texas.
Yeah especially if it's a carry pistol. You want that extra weight on the pull to prevent accidents.
I think I'd like to have one for a river revolver, just to have in case of water moccasins.
It would be great for that. Just gotta find one. They’re pretty hard to come by
bonjournice to meet you- Yeah!cool . all the best-;))
what good is a trigger gauge that only goes to 8 lbs. The Ruger .22 LCRX 3: L/R DA is 18 LBS
Wheeler makes a digital that goes to twelve and an analogue one that goes to 8
That’s a heavy trigger. Never had one that heavy
I think 12 lbs is the standard DA on most of the older S&W revolvers I own in .22 L/R. That’s the reason I own them
There's a manufacturing flaw. Light strikes. The taurus 38 caliber revolver is easy to find.
got one of those. Just wanted a double action 22 revolver. I may have a fix
What’s the fix? I sent mine back for warranty repair because of light strikes.

Try using better 22LR ammo in it ! The bulk type packaged ammo I noticed no fires in my 22LR revolver.

Nothing in the manual about it and never an issue for the decades of me owning and shooting them. Not this specific one but 22s
@@JBJHonez I would never do i to my pistols. But that is why I don't Buy used guns.

You are damaging your cylinder every time you pull the trigger without snap caps

I can't find the Taurus 942 22mag anywhere in SA Texas... I can't find it online. This gun is AWOL.

@@JBJHonezThanks, I thought about that as well, but I could always file down the spur if it became an issue.

Thanks. At a local shop
I can`t find one in east texas ?
They’re fairly hard to find. I got on a lot of online waiting lists and it still took a few months. Good luck on getting one
