"I don't think he is as stupid as he seems." "My dear, NO ONE is as stupid as HE seems." Absolutely hilarious. (not to mention, you aren't entirely sure if he is simply mocking the Doctor, or if he is - more likely - calling him out. Saying 'I know what you are doing & you are not going to fool me.')
The best ending to a Doctor Who episode? Probably "The Horror of Fang Rock." The poem was so fitting, and Baker's voice echoing in the foggy darkness.... (goosebumps)
As Colin Baker is my favourite Doctor. I must agree with you about Vengeance on Varos. It's so good. "Forgive me if I don't join you" best way to deny a party invite if you're planning a Who Marathon.
My list 1) Talons of Weng-Chiang 1) The Robots of Death 1) The Mind Of Evil 1) The Caves Of Androzani 1) Earthshock 1) City Of Death 1) Genesis Of The Daleks 1) Remembrance Of The Daleks 1) The Sea Devils 1) The Keeper Of Traken 1) The Pyramids Of Mars 1) The Ambassadors Of Death 1) Inferno 2) Terror of The Zygons (because of the Skaracen effects being below par)
I just wrote some of the same ones. Ambassadors Of Death got bad reviews but I like that one, it didn't make my top 10. Ribos Operation was really good and one of the best ever in my opinion. Caves Of Androzani, Earthshock, Remembrance Of The Daleks, Keeper Of Traken and the Sea Devils don't make my list. Inferno and Seeds of Doom may be my all time favs. .
this make me feel old .......I watched most of these as a "kid" ! you picked most of my favourites keep up the good work it nice to see you young people enjoying the old stuff .......damn im old .....
+Return of the rocketman Nah, what makes me feel old is the realization that two of the New Who Doctors (Smith, Whitaker) weren't even born when I started watching the show. 🤔
I am 13 and my 5 favourite doctors are. Trouton/2nd as 5th favourite followed by Smith/11th as 4th Davison/5th as 3rd Maccoy/7th as 2nd and oviously Tom Baker as the best.
My all time favorite is PYRAMIDS OF MARS. It is so Hammer like. Great performances by my favorite team Tom Baker, Liz Sladen in the white dress, and Robert Holmes, and Philip Hichcliff. Love this story almost perfect.
My Top 10. These are my 'go to' episodes, or episodes I recommended fans of the newer show to watch if they were interested in older Doctor Who: 1. Inferno - A brilliant 7 parter with some great nods to Orwell, and yes, even though the fully transformed Primords look a little like low budget green wolf-men with pillows stuffed up their backs, the concept still terrifies me and I want to see the adventure at Krakatoa. 2. Resurrection of the Daleks - Creepy, disgusting, morbid, dark and ultimately depressing. Tegans' last words resonated so much with me and really summed up the mood of the episode in a great way. And, much like 'Adronzani', no one wins. 3. Spearhead from Space - Childhood trauma episode. I will never forget the Auton rampage, and honestly this is the most professional looking Doctor Who episode ever. Very well done and sets up the 'Doctor on Earth' dynamic really well. 4. Attack of the Cybermen - Telos, Ice Tombs, Sewers, Mind Control, Lytton dying. This is an episode I can go back to again and again and again and enjoy without every regretting putting in the DVD. Well paced, with some great cyber fighting, and an interesting gap filler in the Cyberman mythos. 5. The Ark in Space - Green bubble wrap aside, another good, dark story which uses the doomed 'humanity in cryo-sleep' plot really well. The Wirrn too are a creepy villain, and the transformation, while goofy looking, is pretty creepy. 6. The Curse of Fenric - Vampires scared me as a kid, and this added to that fear. Another creepy one, using Gothic imagery, and some great visual and make-up effects, plus Ace's conflict over her mother is really impactful. 7. The Green Death - Hippies and the Military have to team up to stop giant insects created by an evil corporation controlled by a giant megalomaniac AI super computer. Barmy as all hell, but so much fun and a touching end to Jo's character. 8. The Horror of Fang Rock - Doctor Who goes Gothic again and it really works. Creepy, with a mix of 'Invasion of the Body Snatchers' and 'The Blob' with some great world building moments with the Rutan and the Sontaran war. 9. Remembrance of the Daleks - Great fun. The Dalek battles, Davros is back, the Doctor revisits where it all began and Ace kicks arse and takes names. Just a fun episode with a great scope and a real gem of 80's Doctor Who. 10. The Daleks - My dad asked me what Doctor Who VHS I wanted from HMV when I was a boy, probably only about 8 or 9 years old. I immediately saw the cover and pointed to The Daleks. It was the first old B&W Who I'd ever watched and it impacted me so much I wanted to know more about the show. This is the one that got me into Doctor Who as a fully fledged fan. Eerie, well realised and a hallmark of what was to come. Fantastic stuff.
My favourite part about pyramids of mars.. is the DVD bonus feature about sutec and his career. It’s amazing. Honestly highly recommend it to anyone who owns the DVD.
If The Daleks' Masterplan wasn't mostly lost, it would be VERY high on this list. 12 parts, but oh so worth it. P.S. My favourite Hartnell speech/scene is at the end of the otherwise meh story of the Massacre of St. Bartholomew's Eve. It takes "heartbreaking" to a whole new level.
You're incredible! This list you've complied is valid in every right! And your impression of Mr. Baker as the fourth doctor is just marvelous! I couldn't tell whether or not you dubbed his voice over the video or not for a few moments there! Absolutely wonderful! You've pointed out a few key things that have given me an idea for a serious Doctor Who story in which I shall endeavor to write. I do look forward to watching more of your videos on Doctor Who! Oh and Congratulations on your massive following! Keep up the marvelous work! Meanwhile, kickback, relax, and treat yourself to a few jelly babies. Sincerely, Maggie the TimeLady
10: rememberance of the daleks 9: the tenth planet 8: the enemy of the world 7: the robotos of death 6: the curse of fenric 5: attack of the cybermen 4: the mind of evil 3: the green death 2: the greatest show in the galaxy 1: the two doctors
Oh man. Some great choices. An episode of The Sea Devils was the first ever one I saw in colour (on my grandparents brand new colour TV). I still remember that and it was 45 years ago and I was 4. Made a huge impression on me and has always been a favourite story. Pyramids of Mars - all time favourite. Genesis of the Daleks - unforgettable. Also agree about Season 13. Terror of the Zygons had just aired when my family visited Blackpool. Highlight of the visit was the Dr. Who exhibition. They had some Zygon exhibits, which was just awesome. My two favourite Doctors are also Tom Baker and Jon Pertwee. Always assumed that was because I'm an old fart now. I must go and watch some of these again.
I definitely agree. The Jon Pertwee era, at least at its height in Seasons 7, 8, and 9, was imo not only by far the best era of Doctor Who, but it is arguably also the greatest television ever made, particularly with stories such as Inferno, The Silurians, Curse of Peladon, The Sea-Devils, The Daemons, The Time Monster, etc. (and I say this as someone who got hooked on Doctor Who by starting with the new/reboot show only 4 years ago (which still feels like a long time to me))
THIS is gonna be difficult so... without giving it ANY prior thought, here's mine. 10. An Unearthly Child. 9. Inferno 8. Doctor Who and the Silurians 7. The Planet of Evil. 6. Kinda 5. The Web of Fear 4. Genesis of the Daleks 3. The Invasion 2. The Daemons 1. The Daleks All done. Just like that.
I haven't seen any of the Peter Davison era, and I haven't gotten to most of Hartnell, Troughton, C. Baker, or McCoy (Sadly. I think they're all fabulous) In chronological order: 10) Tomb Of The Cybermen Not perfect, but terrific overall. Troughton and Jaime are wonderful, and Victoria is quite good. And the Cybermen are portrayed perfectly. "We will survive" is the perfect mantra for them. Because what are the Cybermen but the epitome of survival at all costs? 9) Enemy Of The World Gripping, well paced, and one of the best performances in Doctor Who history. 8) The Sea Devils Definitely less nuanced than the Silurians, but it's just so fun. Pertwee, Delgado, and Jo are in top form, and for a six-parter, it's very well paced. 7) The Time Warrior Pure, unadulterated fun from start to finish. I could go on about this one for a long time. 6) Pyramid Of Mars Brilliant, just brilliant. The mummies design is pretty clunky, but other than that, I can't find any flaws. 5) Seeds Of Doom Such a great time. Part Six is weak by comparison to the others, but it's well worth it. 4) City Of Death What can I say about this that hasn't already been said? It's just great. 3) Vengeance On Varos I wasn't sure whether to put this or Attack Of The Cybermen, but this one won out. Such a relevant, enjoyable story. And Colin Baker is EXTREMELY underrated. 2) Remembrance Of The Daleks Probably my favorite Dalek story of all time. McCoy is easily one of my favorite Doctors, and his chemistry with Ace is outstanding. And damn, that ending gives me chills. 1) The Happiness Patrol I felt like I was having a bizzare dream while watching this, and I fucking loved it. And that ending, again, was just phenomenal. Btw, can Kandyman come back? Please?
Great list. I was born 1968 and was an avid Doctor Who viewer here in Australia. Most of the Tom Baker episodes were repeated several times, and after 1975 the Jon Pertwee stories where there were colour prints of every episode were sometimes repeated. Other Pertwee stories were skipped I think. My faves included Spearhead from Space (nightmares), Robot (scary), Genesis of the Daleks (haunting), Pyramids of Mars (terrified me), Planet of Evil, Seeds of Doom, Earthshock (we saw that first cliffhanger unspoiled and nearly died), Caves of Androzani (the first cliffhanger was incredible). Tom Baker was really my first Doctor - I had only very vague memories of there being a grey haired Doctor. In the late 1980s the ABC repeated all extant serials (in an early evening strip timeslot) and I loved watching it all in sequence. By 1989 they no longer balked at showing a serial where all or some episodes were in monochrome. I recall one of the episodes of Planet of the Daleks that they showed, was a monochome print. I had terrible flashbacks at times and I finally learned the source of mysterious childhood terrors I clearly recalled (they were the devil doll in Terror of the Autons, the Sea Devils emerging from the sea, and a couple of other moments). As I was just a kid I didn't really recall Pertwee that well but on seeing them again recalled moments in Spearhead from Space, Carnival of Monsters, Day of the Daleks, The Time Warrior, Death to the Daleks, Planet of the Spiders. Mostly the scary parts with monsters. That 1980s repeat run was the first time I ever saw The Brain of Morbius, and The Deadly Assassin. Years later I saw an ancient TV Week magazine and saw that the ABC originally shown Morbius in a timeslot after 8.30 pm. After that it and Assassin were omitted from repeat runs. But yeah they were restored for the 1989 repeat run. c.2003 the ABC again did a full Doctor Who repeat again in an early strip timeslot.
I am in love with the arrangement of the Who theme you have here. It makes me think of what Who would be like today if it continued to be like the Classics...
The Dalek invasion of Earth was amazing, I love the mining part when barbara walks by as a prisoner and Ian doesn't even notice cuz he's hiding behind a bunch of barrels lol.
10: The Power of the Daleks 9: The Enemy of the World 8: The Daleks 7: The Green Death 6:Remembrance of the Daleks 5: Genesis of the Daleks 4: Tomb of the Cybermen 3: Inferno 2: The Caves of Androzani 1: Doctor Who and the Silurians Honorable Mentions: The Aztecs, the War Machines, The Moonbase, The Seeds of Death, Spearhead from Space, The Daemons, The Ark in Space, Pyramids of Mars, City of Death, The Visitation, The Five Doctors, Resurrection of the Daleks, Vengeance on Varos, Mindwarp, Survival.
My top 10: 10. Resurrection of the Daleks 9. The Green Death 8. The Talons of Weng-Chiang 7. Frontier in Space 6. The Time Warrior 5. The Pyramids of Mars 4. Earthshock 3. The Caves of Androzani 2. City of Death 1. Genesis of the Daleks
My list 10 The Sun Makers 9 Enlightenment 8 Logopolis 7 Remembrance of the Daleks 6 The Curse of Fenric 5 The Robots of Death 4 Day of the Daleks 3 The Caves of Androzani 2 City of Death 1 Genesis of the Daleks
I loved the Tomb of Rassilon, the chance to see a number of Doctors together in a story is great. Unfortunately, Tom Baker got stuck in some Time vortex Void. But with Richard hurndall, Patrick Troughton, Jon Pertwee, Pete Davidson. On top of this, you had the Master, the high council of the Time Lords, the appearance of the Cyber Men. It just so good a production, I feel!
Another great thing in The Dalek Invasion of Earth is the part, near the beginning, where the Daleks test the Doctor and find out that he's not just an average human.
I can't really bring myself to do a best 10 overall, so I'll just do my favourites for each Doctor from the classic era: 1) The Gunfighters - This story is here just for its pure camp value. It never fails to make me laugh, and I find that the way that it tells its story though song is quite a novel idea 2) Power of the Daleks - Dark, brooding and mysterious. 'nuff said 3) The Sea Devils - This is the Third Doctor era in a nutshell; the Master, the UNIT team, everything is on form for one of my favourite stories ever made 4) The Talons of Weng-Chiang - Sure some elements are a little bit questionable now, but in terms of atmosphere, writing and acting, this is quite possibly the best. Aside from the giant rat... 5) Snakedance - Maybe a bit controversial to some, but this is mainly because this was my first Doctor Who story, ever. It may look a little garish, but it is the script and the performances that sell it. 6) Vengeance on Varos - No question really. The Sixth Doctor is my personal favourite of the incarnations, and Colin gives it his all amid the dodgy sets and subpar direction, but it is as you said, all down to the script 7) Ghost Light - Confusing, baffling but fantastic. Nearly everything came to light here (pun intended), and was just one of the reasons why season 26 is one of the best (not Battlefield, definitely not Battlefield...)
My favorite Classic story is, well I think you heard of it, Genesis of the Daleks. You know the one with the guy on the wheelchair, and that thing about a virus...
Wisher's Davros was utterly phenomenal. Everyone that's followed has inevitably descended into the foaming, ranting megalomaniacal trope but Wisher's Davros was a stone cold goddamn psychopath. Utterly, chillingly, monstrously *sane* and controlled.
yeah, sutek (Spelling mistake?) was such a boss! also would say just found your youtube and subscribed on the spot, great stuff keep it going! [also love the swearing , is that right?] ;) nice one though!
War games is a great story too I do love your list caves of androzani really is one of my favorites, earthshock, logopolis deadly assassin keeper of traken genesis of the daleks, the green death, survival, curse of fenric, some of my top favorite stories
I love the Sea Devils-I grew up around most of the locations -but Day of the Daleks is a sharper story. Great Tom impression btw-you should be on Dead Ringers.
I didn't realise that people thought that there weren't enough Daleks in Genesis. I thought there were enough, considering this was their beginning- there's obviously going to be less of them
There's that and people saying that the Daleks aren't like the Daleks that we've seen before which again, it's the beginning. Why would they be the same? It's on the DVD extras of some of the classic Dalek stories and in reviews I've read.
"You watched it [The Invasion] when you were very young..." Wait till you reach 48, my friend, and you'll realise you are *still* young. Savour and enjoy!
I saw the The Invasion and Tomb of the Cybermen when they released them on video. These videos were always hard to find, than I found them at Sun Coast video in the early to mid 90ties. I used to tape these on Betamax from PBS. My friends thought I was nuts for watching this show. In 85, I made my dad take me to the DW convention were we watched a private screening of Attack of the Cybermen and Mark of the Rani. My dad was a football player he couldn't believe was hanging out with all these crazies. So I met JNT and Colin Baker at this event and got autographs.
My top 5 Tom Baker stories are also the top 5 best Dr Who stories ever :- These are my 5 and haven't changed in years and probably never will :- 1. Terror of the Zygons 2. Pyramids of Mars 3. City of Death 4. Genesis of the Daleks 5. The Talons of Weng-Chiang
Sutekh needs to come back in the New Series because he was one of the few villains that made you feel like the Doctor could lose to. The Doctor is invincible in modern Who. Sutekh was the only villain that literally made the Doctor scream.
excellent and even surprising choices! I personally would also have put The Green Death & Inferno on the list (being a Jon Pertwee fan boy) Great channel and keep making those Doctor Who videos! :-)
Cool list. Vengeance on Varos was solid, one of my 2 favorite Colin Baker's stories, I fully agree the transmogrify scene was awful and filler and actually hurt the story. Pyramids of Mars is excellent. I saw it as a kid and it freaked me out. Sutekh was awesome. Dalek Invasion of Earth was one of Hartnell's best, that speech alone was so solid and iconic. Survival was quite good. Ainley was on top form here, less hammy than he often was. He was menacing and downright scary for once. Sea Devils isn't my favorite Pertwee story but it was good. The parts with the Master in the prison were quite good. The Invasion is simply excellent. Wish it wasn't partially animated, i.e. wish we had the entire original story, but loved it. And yes, despite its great length it was just so good. Tobias Vaughn was excellent too! 'Packer!' I love Earthshock. I hate Adric less than most but still not that sad about his fate here. Peter Davison is a great Doctor and I like him overall. City of Death is fantastic and it has John Cleese! Just amazing. Genesis of the Daleks was my first story ever. I saw it in the late 70s here on PBS and I had to keep watching! Nyder is indeed a great supporting villain and Micheal Wisher is for me THE Davros. And yes, Caves of Androzani is excellent barring the creature and the army uniforms. Sharaz Jek is one of the best villains ever. He is tragic and has depth, that makes him so much more interesting than a screaming loon. He was very creepy too as you say but also makes you feel sorry for him too.
He didn't say it in "The Three Doctors", but he did in "The Five Doctors". Terrance Dicks deliberately put it in the script as a treat for the fans... and Pertwee himself I guess.
What about Trial of a time lord? 1. Colin baker in my opinion is the best and most underrated doctor 2. Amazing storyline with good continuity 3. Good return of previous enemies 4. Lot of suspense 5. possibly one of the best classic doctor who theme tunes was used on this
Awesome list Wingy. My top 10 mostly consists of Tom Baker and Robert Holmes stories. They just stand out as contributing quintessential Who for me 10. The Ark In Space (Dodgy effects aside the sheer concept of the Wirrn is terrifying.) 9. The Hand Of Fear ( A B movie style plot with an emotional departure that did not feel jarring to me) 8. The Caves Of Androzani ( The cliffhangers for part 1 and 3 never fail to make my jaw drop every time) 7. Carnival Of Monsters ( Batshit crazy and full of creativity like the Mind Robber but with a bit more substance and intrigue for me) 6. City Of Death (probably the funniest episode in all of Who history all while having a plot with stakes and tension. Plus Paris looks gorgeous New Who should return there) 5. Spearhead From Space ( A daring new set-up for the show. Pertwee just oozes charm and the Autons are an ingenious invention.) 4. The Enemy Of The World (The discovery of this episode was the highlight of the 50th anniversary for me. I enjoy how it broke the conventions of 60's Who. Troughton's performance as both the Doctor and Salamander is really gripping stuff) 3. The Tomb Of the Cybermen ( It maybe dated but this story still has classic status. The Cybermen's voices genuinely creep me out and the touching words of comfort the Doctor gives to Victoria sums up everything Doctor Who is about). 2. The Deadly Assassin (Much like The Caves of Androzani and Heaven Sent this story puts the Doctor through hell by disgracing him and by sending him to the Matrix and turning him into Rambo. I enjoyed seeing the inner workings of Gallifrey's rotten to the core society despite it normalising the Time lords a little bit. It helped us understand why the Doctor left Gallifrey in the first place. 1. Genesis Of The Daleks (Well Wingy summed it up perfectly. I loved how solemn The Doctor is in this story he's far less jokey which really helped emphasis the stakes. I loved Davros's cold and calculating nature. I always get the sense that The Daleks were the most evil little shits in all creation in this story, maybe because the effects of the second world war were still being felt even after 30 years.)
I think he was the best also but his stories were not the best, if that makes sense. I have all of them on video. In my opinion I personally like Blakes 7 a lot better than DW.
The Remembrance of the Daleks and City of Death I have enjoyed so much!
6 років тому+1
1. Deadly Assassin - First real look at the Time Lords 2. Keeper of Traken. -Great atmosphere 3. Genesis of the Daleks- Davros into and no did it better than Michael Wisher 4. Logopolis TommBaker's finale 5. Warriors Gate- best companion departure stories 6. Mind Robber- best black and white episode 7. Ark in Space great speech by Baker 8 the three Doctors- only multi Doctor story that worked 9 Horns of the Nimon- a guilty pleasure 10 Ribos Operation
Sharaz-Jek ended up as an anti-hero in the end. Despite being infatuated with Peri he saved her, plus the doctor, and the real baddie was Morgus, who he ends up killing. Go easy on Jek!
^ this. He seemed villainous at the beginning but as the story goes on he becomes a tragic anti hero and morgus is revealed to be the true villain of CoA. He's one of the best one off characters though.
GREAT LIST! For me, I unfortunately couldn't see earthshock, city of death and many other classic who stories bc here in America, thy are so freakin expensive city of death is over a 100$. i'm still waiting for earthshock to go on sale too, like so many others (mind of evil/talons of weng chaing, etc.). and i'm sorry, i'm gonna cheat. with the pertwee and baker era, i'm going to do my top ten of their runs, and then do a top ten in general of the others. pertwee: 10) death to the daleks 9) claws of axos 8) the three doctors 7) inferno 6) frontier in space 5) the daemons 4) the sea devils 3) carnival of monsters 2) the silurians 1) spearhead from space tom baker 10) the invisible enemy 9) the robots of death 8) the sun makers 7) the brain of morbius 6) the seeds of doom 5) the power of kroll (yeah, i'm the weirdo who loves it) 4) the stones of blood 3) the android invasion 2) the pyramids of mars 1) Genesis of the daleks now my top ten for the rest 10) the awakening 9) the five doctors 8) planet of fire 7) the mind robber 6) the greatest show in the galaxy 5) vengeance on varos 4) enlightenment 3) mawdryn undead 2) remembrance of the daleks 1) the caves of androzani mind u I love troughton, but I haven't seen many of his episodes, and i'm still waiting for the dalek invasion of earth to go sale
Psyche M $100?! Do you not just have them in most DVD shops? That's weird. In the UK we do and except for box sets, all of the classic stuff is £10 or less. An alternative is to try find it to watch online, I've found a few websites where you can stream it so just Google it and you should find it.
most dvd shops don't have them, and if they do, they are still expensive. amazon is the cheapest place to buy them, and seeing a good episode for 100$ is not uncommon at all. yes, I have watched some episodes online, but I want to buy them instead, so that I can watch them in better quality. what's even more annoying is that below our prices, we see the price it would be in the uk. nothing more annoying than wanting to buy the ambassadors of death, its almost 200$, and then u see that in the UK its like 9 pounds.
Philadelphia Whovian Hey there! The ridiculous cost of US Doctor Who DVDs is why I bought a region-free DVD player for about $30. I get my DVDs from the UK, and even with shipping, they're many times cheaper than the ones here. In addition to new DVDs, I've also bought a few used ones through Amazon.co.uk third-party sellers, and they've all been great, like new, and always arriving much faster than originally estimated. Another option would be to subscribe to Britbox, which is about $8/month, and which has almost all of the extant Classic series (there are a few Dalek stories that they don't have). It's available as a Roku channel and an Android app, and I'm pretty sure that you can also stream it via the web.
Philadelphia Whovian in the US, in Pennsylvania too, I found the "monster gift set". It's a US exclusive that includes a 9th/10th doctor sonic screwdriver, a two disc dalek collection featuring Dalek, The Stolen Earth/ Journey's End, Asylum of the Daleks, and Into the Dalek along with Genesis of the Daleks as a bonus feature, and it has a two disc cyberman collection which includes Army of Ghosts/Doomsday, Closing Time, Nightmare in Silver, and Dark Water/Death in Heaven with Earthshock as a bonus feature. The whole set is, as I got it, only $25! I can't recommend it enough
Favourites at present, in chronological order. As I plow my way through the Classic series, this list will change, but this is it where I am now (which is part way through _The Web of Fear_). Sadly I have not seen _Genesis of the Daleks_, but this exercise of watching the entire show ensures that I will. Dalek Invasion of Earth The Dalek's Master Plan The War Machines The Tenth Planet Power of the Daleks Tomb of the Cybermen The Web of Fear Terror of the Autons The Three Doctors Ark in Space Pyramids of Mars The Pirate Planet City of Death Shada The Visitation Earthshock The Five Doctors Remembrance of the Daleks
10 - the celestial toy maker - this was the first tele-snap recon episode I watched, don’t remember too much about it, as it’s been a few years, but I remember it was good 9 - the macra terror - honestly the story elements in this story are great, it was a really strange episode where one of the doctors companions was one of the antagonists 8 - power of the daleks - honestly amazing, it’s just so creepy. I watched the animated recon, and I can only imagine how creepy the original broadcast was like 7 - attack of the cybermen - though an unpopular opinion, I loved this story, and my favorite doctor was Colin baker. The episode showed how emotionless the cybermen could be at times, except for a few scenes in the episode.. 6 - the gunfighters - it’s so bad it’s good 5 - the moon base - I don’t know why, I liked it in a weird way though. 4 - trail of a time lord - honestly loved this episode, but like the moon base, I just don’t know why 3 - invasion of the dinosaurs - The effects were worse than the Godzilla movies from the 60s, they were just so bad they were good 2 - the invasion - the best cybermen episode, it’s sad that they planned for this to be the last cybermen episode I loved the scene where they “injected” fear not the cybermen 1 - evil of the daleks - not a very well known story, but it needs an animated reconstruction, now. It keeps you on edge, thinking the daleks could kill the doctor at any second, but they’re friendly daleks, it’s a very underrated episode
10. Spearhead from space 9. Earthshock 8. Caves of androzani 7. The tomb of the cybermen 6. The invasion 5. Pyramids of mars 4. Genesis of the daleks 3. Enemy of the world 2. The evil of the daleks 1. The daleks master plan
in no particular order .. web of fear, the mind robbers, the three doctors, the five doctors, city of death, shada, spearhead from space. Cant go further without putting the Pertwee years on a pedestal ....
For me, your top 3 is my top 3. I love City of Death, I think I know it off by heart (the script that is), Genesis of the Daleks has that whole "if I kill the Daleks" thing and the quip about ending up with bows and arrows features in The Magicians Apprentice but Androzani has everything, drugs smugglers, arms dealers, bent politicians and a maniacal villain in the middle orchestrating it all . Then the Doctor and Peri just stumble into the middle of it all and are just victims throughout the whole thing which ends in Davison regenerating and Peri being saved and then wondering what the hell is going on as the bloke she just met in the previous story changes in front of her. It's totally mind blowing. Survival, Dalek Invasion and Androzani also have the most emotional endings. I always end up in tears at the end of Survival because I remember it the first time around when I was 19 and having heard the news that it wasn't coming back, it was soul destroying to think that a programme that I'd watched since Deadly Assassin in 1976 wasn't coming back. I only ever missed 2 episodes out of the whole of that time too. Dalek Invasion where he says goodbye to Susan is very tearjerking too, reminds me of people who I've worked with who just kind of leave and it's always a git because you enjoyed working with them.
My favourites were Robots of Death and Brain of Morbius. I did not like the Peter Davidson era much but I liked the Earthshock story. You are right about the dip in quality towards the end of the Tom Baker era. "Reverse the polarity of the neutron flow" is the sort of thing that would make me shout at the screen. Utterly unforgivable line.
10.tomb of the cybermen 9/10 9.pyramids of mars 9/10 8.earthshock 9/10 7.spearhead from space 9.5/10 6.enemy of the world 9.5/10 5.sea devils 10/10 4.caves of androzani 10/10 3.war games 10/10 2.city of death 10/10 1.genesis of the daleks 10/10
10. The Silurians 9. Frontier in Space 8. the mind of evil 7. Terror of the Autons 6. Ambassadors of death 5. Sphearhead from space 4. The time Warrior 3. The three Doctors 2. Inferno 1. Carnival of monsters
I mean, I don't want to bash your opinion or be mean, but Web Planet is more so notorious for being one of the worst Hartnell stories. It was one of those ideas that was AMAZING on paper but due to budget, it just couldn't work. As well as the acting being really hammy and over the top. It had great ambition but ultimately failed in execution (at least to me and to many other fans). I am slowly making my way through the Hartnell era and I am very hard pressed to find a worse story. Again to me. It's fine if you like it, I get it. I don't want to shit on you my guy.
The thing is you do get lost in it when you sit down and watch it. It’s a weird psychedelic fantasy world. But people can’t get past the dates special effects.
My list 10-two doctors 9-sea devils 8-the tenth planet 7-greatest show in the galexy 6-the gunfighter 5-destany of the darleks 4-the invation 3-terror of the autons 2-remembrance of the darleks 1-terror of the zygons
There are just so many fucking awesome stories in the old series it's virtually impossible to rank just 10. So I won't. - Every William Hartnell story except The Dalek Invasion of Earth, The Web Planet, and The Celestial Toymaker - Every Patrick Troughton story - Every Jon Pertwee story - Every Tom Baker story except Revenge of the Cybermen, Underworld, The Invasion of Time and The Leisure Hive - Castrovalva - Earthshock - Mawdryn Undead - Enlightenment - Frontios - The Caves of Androzani - Attack of the Cybermen - Revelation of the Daleks - Trial of a Time Lord - Every Sylvester McCoy story except Time and the Rani
My top 10 classic stories 10) the green death 9) ghostlight and the curse of centric 8) the web of fear 7) the enemy of the world 6) spearhead from space and inferno 5) the Chase 4) genesis of the Daleks 3) doctor who and the Silurians 2) evil of the daleks 1) the war games Honorable mentions: Dalek invasion of earth, the war machines, the sea devils, caves of androzani, survival, battlefield, keys of marinus, remembrance of the Daleks, greatest show in the galaxy, robots of death, earthshock, resurrection of the Daleks, vengeance on varos, the invasion.
Love Caves of Androzani, it's possibly the very best classic Dr Who ever. However, I very rarely watch it because it's the last story for MY Doctor, and it still makes me sad! The first Doctor I remember was Tom Baker, but Peter Davison was MY Doctor.
1 Caves of Andrazani 2 Genesis of the Daleks 3 Mindwarp 4 Earthshock 5 Shada 6 Nightmare on Eden 7 Terminus 8 Invasion of Time 9 Four to Doomsday 10 Vengeance on Varos
Rossm3838 the classic series is just crappy effects, and bad acting. The new series is far more charming. Edit: I'm joking, I do love the classic series.
Couldn't agree more New Who has never came close to stories like Power Of The Daleks. The War Machines. The Daemons. Talons Of Weng Chiang. Androzani. Curse Of Fenric. Maybe Heaven Sent
Oh my god Nyder is the best! Having seen Genesis before The Silurians, 2 stories I both love and could rewatch over and over again, i must say it's a weird unsettling feel seeing Peter Miles in the silurians, you just wanna scream at 3, "ey dat's Ny...Oh oh wait!" ^^' Fantastic character, 1 of my fav in all of Doctor Who. I'm not _as big_ of a 5th Doctor Fan, him being all \*too* 'human' & me loving that weird/grimm side of the doctor, 4/Tom Baker being my all time fav... Still caves deseves to be on here. The rest I can also agree on! Vengeance on Varos is an absoloute master piece (in midst of that weird mixed bag that is the 6th doctor era) & you picked 1 of my fav Hartnell speeches, too! \*,* Having seen Cat trap (the doc on Survival) & therefor knowing just _HOW good_ this story AND S27 could've been if it wasn't for JNT & Michael F'N Grade, I can't really blame them for the not _that_ good cheetah costumes etc... Anyways I miss Remembrance of the Daleks! Also favs of mine (that might _almost_ make the list) that I think are really underrated are e.g. - Terror of the Zygons, with its beautiful oudoor shots & Baker at its best! It sorta feels like a 3rd & 4th doctor story mixed into one with best of both worlds, focussing on the amazing chemistry between a fantatsic doc & really good companions but also havin some hilarious sFx with the pizza computer even Tom Baker made fun of in the bonus features & the almost "Invasion of the dinosaurs"-ish Nessie. :'D - The five doctors! While It couldve done more with its elements, especially the brig, it still just is sooooo damn rewatchable & having the Brigadier punch the Ainley incarnation of the Master with that line delivered is just pure joy! Plus it features 4 incarnations of this madman arguing with eachother in wonderful wonderful childish ways, it brings tears of joy to my face of laughing out loud. Cool video! Keep it up!
My own personal favourites (in order of date): 1. The Massacre of St. Bartholomew's Eve 2. The War Games 3. Doctor Who and the Silurians 4. Inferno 5. Genesis of the Daleks 6. The Deadly Assassin 7. The Talons of Weng-Chiang 8. Horror of Fang Rock 9. The Caves of Androzani 10. Remembrance of the Daleks
"I don't think he is as stupid as he seems."
"My dear, NO ONE is as stupid as HE seems."
Absolutely hilarious. (not to mention, you aren't entirely sure if he is simply mocking the Doctor, or if he is - more likely - calling him out. Saying 'I know what you are doing & you are not going to fool me.')
U.N.I.T is not in the Sea Devils it was the Royal Navy
The fact that Sharaz Jek was originally offered to David Bowie, makes him an even better villain
He wanted to accept but he had to do a concert
The best ending to a Doctor Who episode? Probably "The Horror of Fang Rock." The poem was so fitting, and Baker's voice echoing in the foggy darkness.... (goosebumps)
As Colin Baker is my favourite Doctor. I must agree with you about Vengeance on Varos. It's so good. "Forgive me if I don't join you" best way to deny a party invite if you're planning a Who Marathon.
Absolutely Agree!!
I would consider both trial of a timelord and the two doctors as good as vengeance on varies, all 3 are easily in my top 10
agree colin isn't my fav but people seem to hate him becauseof timelash but most of his stories except the twin piece of shite timelash or decent.
I like it but that line is so Bond it feels more Pertwee than baker
I'd add "The War Games" with Patrick Troughton to the list. Not sure at what number or what I'd take off the list, to make space.
Genesis of the Daleks is overrated 💩
gunilla lasinnatti nope. Just no. And yes about Genesis
@@LeoGuidi earthshock is as good as everyone say it is
gunilla lasinnatti yeah. It’s great
The War Games and The Mind Robber favorite Pat Troughton stories on my top 10
I loved Talons of Weng Chiang because of its just plain creepy mood throughout each episode.
JakeTheGearHeart one of my all time favourites...
JakeTheGearHeart Yeah but it’s racist as hell
my favorite moments of that is the whole magic showcase scene
My list
1) Talons of Weng-Chiang
1) The Robots of Death
1) The Mind Of Evil
1) The Caves Of Androzani
1) Earthshock
1) City Of Death
1) Genesis Of The Daleks
1) Remembrance Of The Daleks
1) The Sea Devils
1) The Keeper Of Traken
1) The Pyramids Of Mars
1) The Ambassadors Of Death
1) Inferno
2) Terror of The Zygons (because of the Skaracen effects being below par)
+Edd Herring You've got great taste
Ambassadors of death is shit
Regarding your Pokemon comment at the end, "there's no point in being grown up if you can't be childish sometimes."
My all time favorite is PYRAMIDS OF MARS. It is so Hammer like. Great performances by my favorite team Tom Baker, Liz Sladen in the white dress, and Robert Holmes, and Philip Hichcliff. Love this story almost perfect.
My Top 10. These are my 'go to' episodes, or episodes I recommended fans of the newer show to watch if they were interested in older Doctor Who:
James Davies the primords are terrifying
My favourite part about pyramids of mars.. is the DVD bonus feature about sutec and his career. It’s amazing. Honestly highly recommend it to anyone who owns the DVD.
If The Daleks' Masterplan wasn't mostly lost, it would be VERY high on this list. 12 parts, but oh so worth it.
P.S. My favourite Hartnell speech/scene is at the end of the otherwise meh story of the Massacre of St. Bartholomew's Eve. It takes "heartbreaking" to a whole new level.
Good choice. P.S. Also a good choice.
Andreas George Skinner Completely agree with you.
Daleks master plan is super boring, and the Christmas special is horrible.
When I listened to that, it came out of nowhere and gutted me, very sad. Great short speech.
August Inman should be sent to Desperus!
love your vid, i'm happy you talk about the classic series, most doctor who youtubers only talk about the newer series
10: rememberance of the daleks
9: the tenth planet
8: the enemy of the world
7: the robotos of death
6: the curse of fenric
5: attack of the cybermen
4: the mind of evil
3: the green death
2: the greatest show in the galaxy
1: the two doctors
You are really really stupid, aren't you.
Life Upgrade what do u mean?
Good choice
Nice to see the Green Death.
The two doctors is wank
(and I say this as someone who got hooked on Doctor Who by starting with the new/reboot show only 4 years ago (which still feels like a long time to me))
The Sea Devils is the earliest story I can remember watching on first broadcast. I was 5.
THIS is gonna be difficult so... without giving it ANY prior thought, here's mine.
10. An Unearthly Child.
9. Inferno
8. Doctor Who and the Silurians
7. The Planet of Evil.
6. Kinda
5. The Web of Fear
4. Genesis of the Daleks
3. The Invasion
2. The Daemons
1. The Daleks
All done. Just like that.
I agree but unearthly child isn't that great
I haven't seen any of the Peter Davison era, and I haven't gotten to most of Hartnell, Troughton, C. Baker, or McCoy (Sadly. I think they're all fabulous)
In chronological order:
10) Tomb Of The Cybermen
Not perfect, but terrific overall. Troughton and Jaime are wonderful, and Victoria is quite good. And the Cybermen are portrayed perfectly. "We will survive" is the perfect mantra for them. Because what are the Cybermen but the epitome of survival at all costs?
9) Enemy Of The World
Gripping, well paced, and one of the best performances in Doctor Who history.
8) The Sea Devils
Definitely less nuanced than the Silurians, but it's just so fun. Pertwee, Delgado, and Jo are in top form, and for a six-parter, it's very well paced.
7) The Time Warrior
Pure, unadulterated fun from start to finish. I could go on about this one for a long time.
6) Pyramid Of Mars
Brilliant, just brilliant. The mummies design is pretty clunky, but other than that, I can't find any flaws.
5) Seeds Of Doom
Such a great time. Part Six is weak by comparison to the others, but it's well worth it.
4) City Of Death
What can I say about this that hasn't already been said? It's just great.
3) Vengeance On Varos
I wasn't sure whether to put this or Attack Of The Cybermen, but this one won out. Such a relevant, enjoyable story. And Colin Baker is EXTREMELY underrated.
2) Remembrance Of The Daleks
Probably my favorite Dalek story of all time. McCoy is easily one of my favorite Doctors, and his chemistry with Ace is outstanding. And damn, that ending gives me chills.
1) The Happiness Patrol
I felt like I was having a bizzare dream while watching this, and I fucking loved it. And that ending, again, was just phenomenal. Btw, can Kandyman come back? Please?
Excellent video. Yay for classic Who.
Other greats: Remembrance of the Daleks, Resurrection of the Daleks
I wondered what that cute bird was. :)
6:04 Well… hes back. (they ruined Sutekh)
Michael Alexander Exactly why I chose to use it!
Wingy Media where did you find it?
I was just searching through UA-cam for fan made themes and came across it! Full version is here: ua-cam.com/video/w3SP-iZBoUQ/v-deo.html
The Dalek invasion of Earth was amazing, I love the mining part when barbara walks by as a prisoner and Ian doesn't even notice cuz he's hiding behind a bunch of barrels lol.
10: The Power of the Daleks
9: The Enemy of the World
8: The Daleks
7: The Green Death
6:Remembrance of the Daleks
5: Genesis of the Daleks
4: Tomb of the Cybermen
3: Inferno
2: The Caves of Androzani
1: Doctor Who and the Silurians
Honorable Mentions: The Aztecs, the War Machines, The Moonbase, The Seeds of Death, Spearhead from Space, The Daemons, The Ark in Space, Pyramids of Mars, City of Death, The Visitation, The Five Doctors, Resurrection of the Daleks, Vengeance on Varos, Mindwarp, Survival.
My top 10:
10. Resurrection of the Daleks
9. The Green Death
8. The Talons of Weng-Chiang
7. Frontier in Space
6. The Time Warrior
5. The Pyramids of Mars
4. Earthshock
3. The Caves of Androzani
2. City of Death
1. Genesis of the Daleks
My list
10 The Sun Makers
9 Enlightenment
8 Logopolis
7 Remembrance of the Daleks
6 The Curse of Fenric
5 The Robots of Death
4 Day of the Daleks
3 The Caves of Androzani
2 City of Death
1 Genesis of the Daleks
Hartnells speech in daleks invasion of earth at the end was fab
Your Tom Baker impression is on point. City of Death is one of my favourite episodes and Tom is my favourite Doctor.
I can't really bring myself to do a best 10 overall, so I'll just do my favourites for each Doctor from the classic era:
1) The Gunfighters - This story is here just for its pure camp value. It never fails to make me laugh, and I find that the way that it tells its story though song is quite a novel idea
2) Power of the Daleks - Dark, brooding and mysterious. 'nuff said
3) The Sea Devils - This is the Third Doctor era in a nutshell; the Master, the UNIT team, everything is on form for one of my favourite stories ever made
4) The Talons of Weng-Chiang - Sure some elements are a little bit questionable now, but in terms of atmosphere, writing and acting, this is quite possibly the best. Aside from the giant rat...
5) Snakedance - Maybe a bit controversial to some, but this is mainly because this was my first Doctor Who story, ever. It may look a little garish, but it is the script and the performances that sell it.
6) Vengeance on Varos - No question really. The Sixth Doctor is my personal favourite of the incarnations, and Colin gives it his all amid the dodgy sets and subpar direction, but it is as you said, all down to the script
7) Ghost Light - Confusing, baffling but fantastic. Nearly everything came to light here (pun intended), and was just one of the reasons why season 26 is one of the best (not Battlefield, definitely not Battlefield...)
I am very excited to see Rona Munro's story in Series 10 (the writer of 'Survival'), she's a fine writer and it's nice to see a classic writer return!
PikaPlayzHD Couldn't agree more! it's my most anticipated story this year.
Wingy Media R.I.P....
spoiler from the future it was shit
it was 2nd worst episode of series 10. I have now seen survival and it is so much better
What episode was it?
My favorite Classic story is, well I think you heard of it, Genesis of the Daleks. You know the one with the guy on the wheelchair, and that thing about a virus...
A virus?
Arif Akyuz do u mean davros
Just Peter r/whooooosh
Davros giving his angry virus speech was awesome...
That episode? Never heard of it.
My favorites: Seeds of Doom, State of Decay, Talons of Wang Chang
I was surprised when Susan kissed David in the Dalek Invasion of Earth! Really good episode!
Inferno is another third doctor story that deserves to be on this list.
Genesis was so well shot. Well designed. So simple, straight forward. Gave me nightmares when I saw it as a kid in the 70s.
Less is more
"You watched it [The Invasion] when you were very young..." Wait till you reach 48, my friend, and you'll realise you are *still* young.
My top 5 Tom Baker stories are also the top 5 best Dr Who stories ever :-
These are my 5 and haven't changed in years and probably never will :-
1. Terror of the Zygons
2. Pyramids of Mars
3. City of Death
4. Genesis of the Daleks
5. The Talons of Weng-Chiang
I bloody love the commentary on caves of androzani especially in part 4 I never realised Davison could be so hilarious
Jon Pertwee's story Inferno was horrifying. In a good way.
I love Keys of Marinus. It's awesome.
Sutekh needs to come back in the New Series because he was one of the few villains that made you feel like the Doctor could lose to. The Doctor is invincible in modern Who. Sutekh was the only villain that literally made the Doctor scream.
10 is too small a number to pick. You'd probably struggle to come up with a top 50 list even.
excellent and even surprising choices!
'Packer!'
I love Earthshock.
Swear he said “reverse the polarity of the neutron flow” in the three Doctors.
He didn't say it in "The Three Doctors", but he did in "The Five Doctors". Terrance Dicks deliberately put it in the script as a treat for the fans... and Pertwee himself I guess.
Neutrons have no polarity to reverse... I'll get my coat...
What about Trial of a time lord?
1. Colin baker in my opinion is the best and most underrated doctor
2. Amazing storyline with good continuity
3. Good return of previous enemies
4. Lot of suspense
5. possibly one of the best classic doctor who theme tunes was used on this
The only problem with Genesis of the Daleks is Giant Clams
Your tom baker impression is so good wtf??
Awesome list Wingy. My top 10 mostly consists of Tom Baker and Robert Holmes stories. They just stand out as contributing quintessential Who for me
10. The Ark In Space (Dodgy effects aside the sheer concept of the Wirrn is terrifying.)
9. The Hand Of Fear ( A B movie style plot with an emotional departure that did not feel jarring to me)
8. The Caves Of Androzani ( The cliffhangers for part 1 and 3 never fail to make my jaw drop every time)
7. Carnival Of Monsters ( Batshit crazy and full of creativity like the Mind Robber but with a bit more substance and intrigue for me)
6. City Of Death (probably the funniest episode in all of Who history all while having a plot with stakes and tension. Plus Paris looks gorgeous New Who should return there)
5. Spearhead From Space ( A daring new set-up for the show. Pertwee just oozes charm and the Autons are an ingenious invention.)
4. The Enemy Of The World (The discovery of this episode was the highlight of the 50th anniversary for me. I enjoy how it broke the conventions of 60's Who. Troughton's performance as both the Doctor and Salamander is really gripping stuff)
I always get the sense that The Daleks were the most evil little shits in all creation in this story, maybe because the effects of the second world war were still being felt even after 30 years.)
hey wingy, what are your thoughts on revelation of the daleks?
Honestly my list would be filled with pertwee stories lol. He’s the best classic doctor IMO.
I think he was the best also but his stories were not the best, if that makes sense. I have all of them on video. In my opinion I personally like Blakes 7 a lot better than DW.
The Remembrance of the Daleks and City of Death I have enjoyed so much!
1. Deadly Assassin - First real look at the Time Lords
2. Keeper of Traken. -Great atmosphere
3. Genesis of the Daleks- Davros into and no did it better than Michael Wisher
4. Logopolis TommBaker's finale
5. Warriors Gate- best companion departure stories
6. Mind Robber- best black and white episode
7. Ark in Space great speech by Baker
8 the three Doctors- only multi Doctor story that worked
9 Horns of the Nimon- a guilty pleasure
10 Ribos Operation
I respect your opinion, but best one off villain what about Sharaz-Jek
Sharaz-Jek ended up as an anti-hero in the end. Despite being infatuated with Peri he saved her, plus the doctor, and the real baddie was Morgus, who he ends up killing. Go easy on Jek!
^ this. He seemed villainous at the beginning but as the story goes on he becomes a tragic anti hero and morgus is revealed to be the true villain of CoA. He's one of the best one off characters though.
the invasion is the best story of all time
Tom Hopkins yeah man, it’s brilliant. Inferno, The Invasion, The War Games.... that’s the cream of the crop right there
Tom Hopkins I disagree but it is one of my favourites
@@coldacre I agree. I love Inferno.
10/10 on the Smarties analogy there
The massacre! "Maybe I should go home, back to my own planet! ..(grim realization).. But I can't .............. I can't!"
I love Earthshock and Genesis of the Daleks, also the cybermen are my favourite villains.
Duude i love your intro! Should have been in the show ;)
how did you do the intro?/title sequence
GREAT LIST! For me, I unfortunately couldn't see earthshock, city of death and many other classic who stories bc here in America, thy are so freakin expensive city of death is over a 100$. i'm still waiting for earthshock to go on sale too, like so many others (mind of evil/talons of weng chaing, etc.). and i'm sorry, i'm gonna cheat. with the pertwee and baker era, i'm going to do my top ten of their runs, and then do a top ten in general of the others.

mind u I love troughton, but I haven't seen many of his episodes, and i'm still waiting for the dalek invasion of earth to go sale
Britbox
Dalek Invasion of Earth
The Dalek's Master Plan
The War Machines
The Tenth Planet
Power of the Daleks
Tomb of the Cybermen
The Web of Fear
Terror of the Autons
The Three Doctors
Ark in Space
Pyramids of Mars
The Pirate Planet
City of Death
Shada
The Visitation
Earthshock
The Five Doctors
Remembrance of the Daleks
unit is not in the sea devils
the second channel I know, when filming I got mixed up with the Silurians 😂
Wingy Media ahhh okay 😅😅
10 - the celestial toy maker - this was the first tele-snap recon episode I watched, don’t remember too much about it, as it’s been a few years, but I remember it was good
9 - the macra terror - honestly the story elements in this story are great, it was a really strange episode where one of the doctors companions was one of the antagonists
8 - power of the daleks - honestly amazing, it’s just so creepy. I watched the animated recon, and I can only imagine how creepy the original broadcast was like
7 - attack of the cybermen - though an unpopular opinion, I loved this story, and my favorite doctor was Colin baker. The episode showed how emotionless the cybermen could be at times, except for a few scenes in the episode..
6 - the gunfighters - it’s so bad it’s good
5 - the moon base - I don’t know why, I liked it in a weird way though.
4 - trail of a time lord - honestly loved this episode, but like the moon base, I just don’t know why
3 - invasion of the dinosaurs - The effects were worse than the Godzilla movies from the 60s, they were just so bad they were good
2 - the invasion - the best cybermen episode, it’s sad that they planned for this to be the last cybermen episode I loved the scene where they “injected” fear not the cybermen
1 - evil of the daleks - not a very well known story, but it needs an animated reconstruction, now. It keeps you on edge, thinking the daleks could kill the doctor at any second, but they’re friendly daleks, it’s a very underrated episode
Robots Of Death would make my top 10, just scared the shit out of me as a kid
10. Spearhead from space
9. Earthshock
8. Caves of androzani
7. The tomb of the cybermen
6. The invasion
5. Pyramids of mars
4. Genesis of the daleks
3. Enemy of the world
2. The evil of the daleks
1. The daleks master plan
I like your title sequence. Baker logo👍🏻
Your Baker impression is great too. He is my favorite.
in no particular order .. web of fear, the mind robbers, the three doctors, the five doctors, city of death, shada, spearhead from space.
Robots of Death for me. Scared me poopless as a 5 year old and it’s absolutely perfect
Adric's death at the end of Ep. 4 was very surprising.
10.tomb of the cybermen 9/10
9.pyramids of mars 9/10
8.earthshock 9/10
7.spearhead from space 9.5/10
6.enemy of the world 9.5/10
5.sea devils 10/10
4.caves of androzani 10/10
3.war games 10/10
2.city of death 10/10
1.genesis of the daleks 10/10
Genesis of the Daleks is overated.
10. The Silurians
9. Frontier in Space
8. the mind of evil
7. Terror of the Autons
6. Ambassadors of death
5. Sphearhead from space
4. The time Warrior
3. The three Doctors
2. Inferno
1. Carnival of monsters
Casual CraftMan - Let me guess you like Jon Pertwee as the Doctor .
My FAVE cyberman ( also my fave villain ) story is either Earthshock or Tomb. The invasion is probably is my 3rd fave
I totally agree with earthshock it is my favorite cyberman story and cyberman design
Why does the Web Planet never get any respect? One of my faves. Loved it first time around - still do! (Yes I'm that old)
I mean, I don't want to bash your opinion or be mean, but Web Planet is more so notorious for being one of the worst Hartnell stories.
It has its fans but it's mostly hated or disliked
The thing is you do get lost in it when you sit down and watch it. It’s a weird psychedelic fantasy world. But people can’t get past the dates special effects.
My list
10-two doctors
9-sea devils
8-the tenth planet
7-greatest show in the galexy
6-the gunfighter
5-destany of the darleks
4-the invation
3-terror of the autons
2-remembrance of the darleks
1-terror of the zygons
I was a sap when watching Earthshock kept saying 'oh I bet is the cybermen' when watching it and the internet hadn't ruined for me.
There are just so many fucking awesome stories in the old series it's virtually impossible to rank just 10. So I won't.
- Every William Hartnell story except The Dalek Invasion of Earth, The Web Planet, and The Celestial Toymaker
- Every Patrick Troughton story
- Every Jon Pertwee story
- Every Tom Baker story except Revenge of the Cybermen, Underworld, The Invasion of Time and The Leisure Hive
- Castrovalva
- Earthshock
- Mawdryn Undead
- Enlightenment
- Frontios
- The Caves of Androzani
- Attack of the Cybermen
- Revelation of the Daleks
- Trial of a Time Lord
- Every Sylvester McCoy story except Time and the Rani
Sutekh or Omega?
As Deep Thought would say, "Tricky".
sutekh easy
Easy enough, Sutekh
Sutekh for days
Omega
my first classic doctor who story I ever watched was the tomb of the cybermen
My top 10 classic stories
10) the green death
9) ghostlight and the curse of centric
8) the web of fear
7) the enemy of the world
6) spearhead from space and inferno
5) the Chase
4) genesis of the Daleks
3) doctor who and the Silurians
2) evil of the daleks
1) the war games
Honorable mentions: Dalek invasion of earth, the war machines, the sea devils, caves of androzani, survival, battlefield, keys of marinus, remembrance of the Daleks, greatest show in the galaxy, robots of death, earthshock, resurrection of the Daleks, vengeance on varos, the invasion.
Yes finally doctor who and the silurians that's my fav doctor who story
Love Caves of Androzani, it's possibly the very best classic Dr Who ever. However, I very rarely watch it because it's the last story for MY Doctor, and it still makes me sad! The first Doctor I remember was Tom Baker, but Peter Davison was MY Doctor.
My favourite story is Remembrance of the Daleks.
1 Caves of Andrazani
2 Genesis of the Daleks
3 Mindwarp
4 Earthshock
5 Shada
6 Nightmare on Eden
7 Terminus
8 Invasion of Time
9 Four to Doomsday
10 Vengeance on Varos
Thank you! I love survival!
The new series is all cgi and noise. The real series is slower and quieter and far more charming. It lets its mysteries play out in its own time.
Rossm3838 the classic series is just crappy effects, and bad acting. The new series is far more charming.
Edit: I'm joking, I do love the classic series.
Any classic series better than "Heaven sent", "Blink" or even "Before the flood", meh?
Couldn't agree more New Who has never came close to stories like Power Of The Daleks. The War Machines. The Daemons. Talons Of Weng Chiang. Androzani. Curse Of Fenric. Maybe Heaven Sent
Three years late but great video and ranking!
Having seen Cat trap (the doc on Survival) & therefor knowing just _HOW good_ this story AND S27 could've been if it wasn't for JNT & Michael F'N Grade, I can't really blame them for the not _that_ good cheetah costumes etc...
- The five doctors! While It couldve done more with its elements, especially the brig,
it still just is sooooo damn rewatchable & having the Brigadier punch the Ainley incarnation of the Master with that line delivered is just pure joy! Plus it features 4 incarnations of this madman arguing with eachother in wonderful wonderful childish ways, it brings tears of joy to my face of laughing out loud.
Cool video! Keep it up!
My own personal favourites (in order of date):
1. The Massacre of St. Bartholomew's Eve
2. The War Games
3. Doctor Who and the Silurians
4. Inferno
5. Genesis of the Daleks
6. The Deadly Assassin
7. The Talons of Weng-Chiang
8. Horror of Fang Rock
9. The Caves of Androzani
10. Remembrance of the Daleks
Why does everyone put Remembrance of the Daleks on their lists? I have not watched that in years but I never liked any of the Sylvester McCoy stuff.
