** Can I donate a whisk(e)y for you to review in The Whisk(e)y Vault?
Of course! If you’re interested in making a tax deductible donation towards our whiskey selection, head on over to:

** What's with the necklaces?
Rex is a whiskey mooch. His necklace is a manifestation of pure glory - forged from the irradiated bones of eagles and wolves. Also a tube sock.
See the origin story here: goo.gl/JMc2Hr
Daniel is a whiskey sommelier. His necklace is a token of his sommelier level, and he trains whiskey sommeliers at The Whisk(e)y Marketing School in Austin Texas.
**A Whisk(e)y school?
Yup. Here's a few things we believe.
** You don’t have to be a snob to appreciate and love great whiskey.
Whisky and Whiskey (it depends on where it’s from) have been an important part of cultures around the world from time immemorial. Whiskey is a part of the very fabric of Western society, and in most places, is as common and accessible as beer.
Like Jazz and wine, snobs have predictably hijacked whiskey appreciation, spoiling our natural, common connection with it and creating a false dichotomy of “good whiskey” and “bad whiskey.”
It’s time to break through the emotional bias with facts and science. That’s what this school is about.
** The only valid definition of “good” whiskey is “whiskey you like to drink.”
Learning how to share your love of whiskey in a way that connects people to the history and the story has more to do with public speaking and storytelling than it does with facts and tests.
The best way to learn about whiskey and share that love is to drink whiskey and talk about it with friends. Study the history, find the stories, and discover the culture and the methods that have been developed over hundreds of years. That’s what you’ll do when you attend The Whisk(e)y Marketing School.
** You don’t need a marketing degree to learn how to share your love of whiskey with the world.
There's an old saying, "In business, it's not what you know... It's who you know."
Regardless the industry you're in, most people are clumsy and ineffective when it comes to "networking" because they ignore a very important rule - Relationship First, Business Second.
There's a tremendous amount of curiosity about Whisk(e)y today. It's a great excuse for you to gather a group of people who want to have fun and learn something new. The Whisk(e)y School teaches you how to tap into that curiosity, and share your love of whisk(e)y in an unpretentious way. You're demonstrating knowledge, expertise, and an engaging personality - things valued by every gatekeeper, in every industry.
Or would you rather hand out business cards and cross your fingers?

After coming home from a long day at work, I have developed a habit of drinking a whiskey (or two, or three) while watching whiskey vault videos, and I love it.
Hell yes. Welcome, sir.
Same here.
What's considered "drinking a whiskey or two(or three)" Is it like a glass full or a shot worth? lol sorry If it's a dumb question.
And there's nothing wrong with it 👍
@@peautifulbenis3673 most likely between 1-2oz
I'm a Canadian born (born in Halifax actually) that lives in Texas. I consider myself Canadian and Texan, considering I've lived here for over 15 years. I love that whiskey, I love that song, and this episode really reminded me of home. Thanks guys.
Glad to have you!
Knob creek really is my favorite bourbon and overall spirit. I was sipping on it watching the super bowl and just got notes of apple pie and sweet spices. The granny smith and red apple cross mooch mentioned. Something about football and apple pie tasting bourbon just blended so well together
Do you mix whiskey......do you Jack your Knob?
What about a three-way? Jack Johnny Walker's Red Knob.
LMAO
If you've got a creek in your knob you should probably oil it.

I showed up for a nice video talking about one of my favorite whiskeys. Instead i get knob puddin...God i love this channel
It is the way of our people.
I think Knob Creek is excellent bourbon. I have a bottle of single barrel 120 proof in my cabinet. Good stuff!
The first thing I do when I get home is grab my Knob
Here's to our wives
Here's to our girlfriends
May they never meet
Would have been nice if you actually reviewed Knob Creek.
they always make hour long videos but don’t get to the damn point. They’re real fun guys, but c‘mon give us atleast some info.
It’s amazing how neither of you actually paid attention to the video.
I wouldn't worry about it. They've also not done a video regarding the Canadian whisky they pulled off the shelf either. It's not so much about reviewing the whiskey as it is about hanging out and drinking whisk(e)y. Just enjoy the ride and don't worry about the destination.
I agree! This is a great bourbon that deserves a review without whatever else they are going on about. Or just don’t call this a knob creek review.
Guys. I just bought a Knob Creek barrel that was redone entirely and fitted with shelves. It even has a stand to hold the barrel that says Knob Creek. The gold plaque on the middle of the barrel says: “It is hereby certified that this barrel was hand-selected for the state of Pennsylvania.” Couldn’t thank the guy enough who chose to sell; it was apparently a display piece for the brand... perhaps for something such as a promotional item.
Whatever the case the charcoal burns on the inside still hold the smell of bourbon slightly. Honestly it’s incredible. Gunna go get some knob creek to fit the shelves with and celebrate. Happy birthday me, and thank you again to the dude who sold it. It has a good home.
Rex: “I’m gonna keep it classy”
Rex five seconds later: “KNOB KNOB KNOB KNOB KNOB”
Barrett's Privateers was played on an episode of the show "due south" in the late '90s. Awesome! I'm proud to be Canadian, and now I will pour me a whisky! Cheers boys!
I also saw a meme of Adam Sandler that said "mama says alcohol is the enemy. Jesus said love your enemy, case closed."
3 years late, I finally found this. Knob Creek was my intro to bourbon whiskey. A nice counter point to my favorite Laphroaing 10.
Roger Moretz yeah I’ve started collecting bourbon earlier this year and somehow slept on knob creek until this weekend i got a 1.75 L for 39.99 and i may like it more than McKenna and find it similar to it
Barret's Privateers is one of my favorite songs, and it is my most favorite Stan Rogers song as well! I too know every single letter of that beautiful tune. Glad I'm not alone
This Knob Creek 9 is really great quality Bourbon, I was impressed. A good sweetness to it, even on your first sip. It is a nice full bodied flavor profile and is pretty complex. Very alcohol forward on the nose, but I do catch some of the cherry and vanilla notes with kind of a jam like sweetness. The taste is very sweet right upfront, if you like sweet bourbons you will love this. It has a sugary quality which I love, cherry-vanilla with rich honey, and strawberry jam. It also has a good dose of oak flavor, but definitely not a dominant characteristic. I think this would be a good Bourbon to introduce someone who is interested in trying new whiskey's. This has a refinement to it that will make you feel fancy, like an old-school aristocrat listening to some classical music in your library! The age statement is pretty cool as well. I must say I am surprised by this purchase. This is a great Bourbon to sip on neat and hangout with some good company, or listen to some good music just by yourself.
Barrett's privateers reference made me subscribe 😂 I love that song!
I'm thankful for this series, because I love whiskey, but I'm such a n00b that I don't know jack shit about what's good or isn't. I'm also not too adventurous when it comes to spending money on whiskey I'm clueless to, so this series is a god send. it's also great since I'm not too far from them, so the prices they pay are quite close to what I'll have to pay.
Do you still consider yourself a noob, or gave you graduated?
Mooch story time!: I was at a secret Santa party at work(I worked at a restaurant at the time) and the bartender got one of the hosts as his secret Santa. The bartender bought the guy a three bottle pack of Knob Creek! The guy was good friends with me and said "I don't really drink that often but I don't wanna be rude, so I'll keep a bottle do you want the other two?" My answer was obviously HELL YES.
TL;DR The best Knob is free Knob
Awesome
Jealous! that's a score.
Thanks guys!!! I feel special now! Not like short bus special either! And I agree Barrett's Privateers is a superior tune! Daniel, your voice is very similar to Rogers'... a lot of the same timbre.
I'm from Canada.. and I can confidently say that our prime minister LOVES knob. He loves knob so much that he has a hard time getting anything done... thats how much he loves the knob.
Knob, Booker's, Baker's and Basil Hayden
Thank you
Hmmm. That last one may need to be tried.
Basil sucks in my book.
@@Dsimms13 I really enjoy BH.
I like Basil
Love this.
"My knob smells funny!"
Me at the bar.
I put my good friend on to this channel and we decided to spend some money and buy a few bottles each. I got the Monkey Shoulder and Highland Park 12, he got the Laphroaig 10 as well as a Tomatin (Legacy?), (Naked?) Grouse, and Big Peat. We also picked up some proper glasses and had a good night trying most of them. I've asked in past videos what such-and-such should taste like and there's no better teacher than experience. I found that I'm not much of a peat lover, the Laphroaig was OK but I couldn't even bring myself to swallow Big Peat (that's what she said).
The MS and HP12 are great, now I just need a 2nd job to support my new hobby. We all weren't born to be mooches.
This kind of gathering is one of my favorite things. Love that we had any hand at all in inspiring it. Enjoy the journey.
As a maritimer (who lives in Nova Scotia), go Daniel! Even when having one too many drinks at a local irish bar, I can at most remember only 3 verses of Barrett's Privateers lol.
Today is August the 9th, 2022 and I just got home from the store with a new bottle of Knob Creek 9 year small batch. She cost me $42 bucks. But is is worth it!!
Yep. Definitely changing my name.
its karma for a lifetime of dad-jokes
I should get some credit for the 22 years before a became a dad.
yah, but you've been a dad for... 38-39 years? Clearly, the cosmic balance has been tipped in a salty direction.
Thanks for always PUDDIN up with my dad jokes
Knob Pudding as a band name has to be one of the funniest things I have heard this year!
Waiting ,, Waiting, yep 43 seconds before Rex went off the rails " Knob " My Hero Rex My Hero !!!
Here I am November 28th 2017 on my journey to view all these videos. I just had my first Ardbeg Ten (among other bottles I feel I need to try). It is absolutely true. I will from here on out compare all others to this moment in my life.
Have you caught up?
This is the video that got my subscription. Whenever I stumble upon an unexpected knob video, I watch it from the tip to the base.
That moment when I wasn't sure if we were going to sit through all 8 versus . . . .
I was just trying to make you panic
This is my favorite go to Bourbon! $26 and on the shelf! Classic flavors and a little wood, you know your drinking a mature whiskey! Cheer's
I loved your video on how to order whiskey. Knob Creek has been my go to bourbon for years, I always come back to it.
Just tried some Knob Creek for the first time tonight and I'm loving it! And by the way, this knob jokes were hilarious, I'm crackin up!
The amount I've learned over the past 6 months is kind amazing. I just finished my first post-whiskey enlightenment distillery tour, and got to have some of the coolest, most in-depth conversations about whiskey.
YES! Love this.
To Daniel totally agree about knob creek and Bruichladdiich classic laddie ! My favorites! Besides laproaig 10
A fine job singing Stan Rogers ... Oh Canada, not so much . Love this show!
Knob Creek is great!!!
I want you guys to have this much fun again! Also need more of Daniel singing!! (I'm rewatching some of my favorites)
Been marathoning episodes for a couple weeks and finally really lost it at Knob Puddin'. Best episode.
It only took 156 episodes to get you to laugh out loud.
Hah! I haven't gone in order and I've certainly laughed a ton along the way! This, however, was an ugly caught-off-guard laugh resulting in some fine whisky up my nose.
Knob Creek: Smoked Maple 90proof.
So smooth!
Did I ever tell you I had a dream a while back that we were in a band called Whiskey Breath? Lol. We were an acoustic duo but can't remember much else. I do like that band name tho. Kinda like Motorhead.
We probably played bluegrass covers of Motorhead
Whiskey Vault Probably. That would actually be pretty cool. If I visit the Vault maybe we can jam and make it happen.
Speaking of apple...I had Glenlivet 12 for the first time and immediately picked up an almost overwhelming sour apple (similar to a sour apple jolly rancher) on the nose and initial taste.
Now I'm going to have to go looking for that one.
BTW Rex, I revisited my Laphroaig Friday night and found it to be more pleasurable than I remembered. Not sure if that is because it's mellowed after sitting for almost 2 years or my taste has evolved, I'll go with evolved taste. But interestingly I was able to pick up on the iodine taste in it that I had missed before. Don't know how I missed it, but I was able to truly appreciate it. I'm still partial to Cardhu 12, but will be drinking the Laphroaig more often.
Well done, sir.
Chris Boggess, nice! Glad you were able to get more out of it. There's a lot going on after you acclimate to its violence.
That's a good way of putting it. It definitely assaults your senses the first time if you aren't used to anything being peated.
I must be a child as well because I was laughing the entire video. Here's an idea for Daniel's portion of the toast, "May your puddin' be rich and creamy."
oh god. it keeps going....
Big thank you!!!! I enjoy whisky by listening and seeing you guys!
3:37 the rare and Elusive positive Canadian Whiskey Review! Still hoping for a video about a top 10 or maybe if there's not that many a top 5 list of good Canadian whiskeys.
So I'm newish to whiskey. My go-to has always been Evan Williams because, to be completely honest, it's cheap. I wanted to expand my horizons a bit so I just did a blind taste taste between Buffalo Trace, Elijah Craig, Evan Williams, and Knob Creek with my dad. At first we picked Buffalo Trace and Elijah Craig in a tie. We are not experienced whiskey drinkers so they tasted very similar to us. Knob Creek came in a very strong 3rd and Evan Williams came in a respectable last. We decided that we should retaste the top 3 again, mostly to see if we could pick a winner between the two that tied. To our shock we both actually picked Knob Creek as our favorite with Elijah Craig coming in second and Buffalo Trace coming in third. It's been my new favorite bourbon ever since. We plan on doing a blind taste test of scotch sometime in the near future. I've found a new fascination because of your videos. I just wanted to thank you for the content and your suggestions. Cheers.
Good morning! It is Saturday! And the windows are open, a fall coolness in the air.
In celebration of that, I brewed up coffee and made one of these soul-warming cocktails.
Irish Coffee Recipe
Knob Creek whiskey
Brewed coffee
Brown sugar
1 pint of heavy whipping cream
2 tbsp. of vanilla extract
4 tbsp. of powder sugar
Dash of fresh grated nutmeg
Add the heavy cream, vanilla extract and fresh grated nutmeg in chilled mixing bowl. On high start mixing. Slowly add in powdered sugar by tbsp. Mix until medium peaks form, a minute or two.
In glass, add one tbsp. of brown sugar, a shot of Knob Creek whiskey and coffee. Fill ¾ full. Top with whipped cream.
I switched from knob creek to makers mark cask strength 😃✅
6:50 - I am on the floor, about to die laughing too!
My attempt at the sign-off toast.
Daniel: Here's to the lovers of whiskey, the people of all classes.
Rex: May you have enough whiskey for yourself, and just enough for the masses.
Viewer: May the best day you have seen in your past, be worse than your worst day yet to come.
oohhh i really dig this round.
Sounds like communist propaganda but ok
Hey guys! Maybe your next project could be an official Whiskey Vault album, with timeless classics like "knob pudding". Or maybe just a playlist of songs that you think go with certain whiskeys.
That's funny, last night I actually googled - whiskey songs, because whiskey needs a soundtrack!
I Have a few for this list:
Whiskey in the Jar - Metallica
Have a Drink on me - AC/DC
Going Out in Style - Dropkick Murphys
I love rewatching these old reviews when i grab a bottle being reviewed. I to enjoy the knob.
When I first started drinking whiskey, I tried a bottle of Knob Creek and it almost ruined Bourbon for me entirely. Odder is how many people I’ve told that and they have had similar reactions to it... I’m curious how my pallet has changed in the past few years after this episode and wonder how I’d react to it now...
That song is my anthem. God damn how did I miss this episode. Nova Scotia says hello and thank you for your quick tribute to us Daniel.
No one is going to mention how good that singing was? The vibrato in his voice had my coin purse rattling
Hey men, you guys should make a list with the best products that can be found worldwide, at different price points. I'm from Brazil and I really want to start my whisky drinking game with good stuff.
Thanks a lot
Cheers
So for the last month or so I've set this channel as the background music(kind of like a podcast) to any work that I've been doing. When Daniel started singing I joined in and bellowed at the top of my lungs the rest of the song. That is a damn good song.
In Denmark. I found this bourbon at 60$. not a bad price for a classic bourbon.
On another note.
I recently found talisker at my local supermarket. What should i try when going for rich, bold flavour; they have Talisker Skye, and Talisker Storm. both at the same price (40$) what would yu recommend dear whisk(e)y community of youtube?
Both are amazing, but my preferred is the Storm.
I used to be a scotch drinker, but pretty much switched over to Knob Creek. I keep my bottle in the fridge. 😊
In Kentucky (or Appalachia, I guess), a "knob" is sorta like a small mountain or hill. They all seemed to be named after someone. Take a drive down the Blue Ridge Parkway, and you'll see what I mean. A knob overseas is Jeremy Clarkson.
The other two small batch bourbons, is Basil Hayden and Bakers. I do like Bookers, but only with a bit of water. The stuff is rocket fuel, lol...
As a first bourbon.. should I get knob creek or Elijah Craig
Guys you gotta try Octomore 7.1, the PPI levels have made me want to try it as I'm one of the few % you guys mention that fell in love with Laphroig for my first. Fab channel guys
Have you guys done the Knob Creek smoked maple??? It’s incredible
I have a few bottle of 9 year stashed away. Sad to see the age statement drop. Knob Creek was like Nirvana's Nevermind. It was my first serious introduction into what would be come a serious hobby.
Kickass. Nirvana reference :-)
there is a town called Knob Lick in Kentucky
yes... just, yes...
The GreyJedi2112 there is a state park called big bone lick...
The GreyJedi2112 Ya, Indiana has a city called Floyd’s Knob....
Hey Daniel, a Canadian band called Real Mckenzies does an absolutely kick ass job covering Barretts Privateers. If you haven't heard it I highly recommend it.
I just popped the cork on my knob, didn't hurt one bit.
Single barrel reserve at a 120 proof 😳 puddin. With Jimi's red house. "There's a red house over yonder......."
Another great humour filled video guys, slowly working through your back catalogue, hope to catch up in a few weeks time.
Just discovered your channel a few days ago and this video is where I decided that I love you magnificent whisky slinging bastards. Cheers.
New watcher. Great show! Thank you for your humor and wisdom. I have been on my whiskey journey for a few years now and of what I have tried that you have talked about I agree 100%. Keep it up!
What are your thoughts on the wider mouth glasses vs the Glencairn glasses?
I actually like them for bourbon. It lets the higher "punch" of bourbon get a bit easier on the nose.
Recently picked up the Ardbeg Kelpie, and love how much smokier it is than my usual Lagavulin 16. Maybe I'll pick up the Octomore next. Thoughts?
If you're going Octomore, you're in for a serious adventure. Go slowly. here there be dragons
Does all that sun shining in threw the window not mess with your bottles?
Quality rendition there sir. Spontaneous Stan Rogers sing-alongs have occured in many a Nova Scotian kitchen. 45 years is prob my fave. Stan song, sappy as it is, it showscases his range well, imo.
I went to high school in Inverness, NS, Can. which is under 10k from the Glenora distillery, but unfortunately have never actually toured it. I moved from Nova Scotia over a decade ago now, but next time Im home, Ill tey and get one in.
I tried Knob Creek for the first time Friday... When I popped that cap, the first thing that came to mind was actually apple pie! But not the oversweet one from the store, homemade one, less sugar, more apple. I don't get that very sweet candy like flavor on this one
Want to try some decent Bourbon's as a change from whisky. Have seen Woodford Reserve, Maker's Mark, Four Roses and Knob Creek here; what would be the one you lads would recommend - should I partake in some Knob? :)
Woodford Reserve is a favourite of my father and I.
Cheers Charles, if its on special at Xmas I may consider it; bought some Kilchoman and Lagavulin this past week so I'll be busy with them for a while! :D
Saltire After drinking nothing but Makers Mark for years, I've really been enjoying Four Roses and Buffalo Trace the last couple months.
Was looking at Four Roses tonight when shopping, but have spent ~£300 on my Christmas whiskies in the past week so better lay off buying more for the time being! :D
I grew up close to where Knob Creek empties into the Salt River which then almost immediately empties into the Ohio River.
If they are using water from Knob Creek I sure hope they are getting it from the source, which is closer to Bardstown, Ky the Bourbon capital of the world.
I learned next to nothing about Knob Creek SBW during this video. I like your videos generally but I believe they are always right on when they are informational. The banter is cool. After all it's guys talking guy stuff and I dig it. But as a dear old Program Director of mine told me many years ago when I was a young, inexperienced broadcaster after a particular on-air interview I'd just conducted w/a comic guest, "That train went off the rails & crashed in the ditch". Just a friendly observation. Stay cool.
Have you guys ever had Walking Stick? Its a Buffalo Trace single barrel.
Knob is the my 1st whiskey which i drink neat...
I would like to see you do a critique of Pappy Van Winkle bourbon
Jim W
Knob Creek in the same video as Glen Breton 10 - wow!!!
Video requests of Daniel teaching us to pick apart meet to the bone with a fork and knife! I'd watch that
I’ve toured Jim Beam distillery twice, it’s pretty cool
Daniel, I hereby declare you an honorary Canadian. Seriously, no one but us Canuks know that song haha
Stan Rogers is a badass
I have since discovering the channel purchased four bottles of scotch, macallan double cask, auchentoshan AO, speyburn 10 and highland Park Magnus. I am not a fan of speyburn and absolutely adore AAO.
Canadian club is a thing we can blame on Al Capone because he kept them going during prohibition
Chad Stewart Canadian club is god damn atrocious and I’m a Canadian
Make a review on the knob creek whiskey smoked maple :)
I just picked up a bottle of this after watching the video and enjoyed it much more than I had previously, now that I have developed more of a taste for whiskey. Do you have any other suggestions that have strong barrel notes like the Knob Creek 100 proof? I apologize if this sounds like a rookie question. I am looking to expand my collection which contains Jefferson Reserve, Knob Creek 100, Pendleton, and Texas Silver Star Texas Honey.
Love the Stan Rogers diversion & "music pairing" with Barrett's Privateers! Great tune!
Looking forward the Glen Breton video upcoming. If you accept sample bottles, I can get you some Glen Breton Ice and Battle of the Glen eventually to try.
We have the ice, but I'd love to try the Battle of Glen!
These guys enjoy their job.
Knob creek....Well polished.
Think ima binge watch all the videos in the Whisk(e)y Vault while sipping some Glenfarclas 12!
Joe burg, nice! Love the Glenfarclas.
