This is what I've been waiting for, your tour of Karpathos, because I am going there next year. I adore your videos and cant wait to see all this live. I could watch your videos all day long, especially the ones fron Greece. In Creete you cant miss Balos and Elafonissi beach. Greetings from Slovenia :)

Karpathos is definitely an awesome place just like the rest of the Greek islands
I think I keep writing the same thing, but I'm so impressed with the barren landscape and ancient sites on these islands. Really glad you've shown us those aspects as I always wrote off the Greek Islands as being tourist mayhem, beaches and parties (none of which interests me), but this is something totally refreshingly different. Love the idea of the freedom of having a car there too and being able to get around to the remote corners without relying on public transport/taxis. Great stuff.
Just had a quick flick through and yes your links are very, very appealing to me because ancient tombs are my main interest amongst all things history-wise (as per my not very watched youtube channel), and I love ancient archaeology in general too. I will definitely check your links out in full soon, thanks a lot ;-)

Wow, kind of reminds me of Amorgos, a long, skinny mountainous island...but Karpathos seems even more wild and untouched. Love it.
You seem to have a pull to Greek islands and your vids show the love for them. Why not stay a year or so and experience the seasons. Which one would you choose?
Wawww what an amazing crystal clear water! It seems as if you were flying instead of snorkelling! I am a fan of Greece also, I have been there several times, but never to Marathons, there is a famous town in the mountains very picturesque and you can see the old fashion as women dress, I don't remember the name, but any way congratulations beautiful blogs. I will go Greece next month, to Samos and Crete! So I am expecting your new video from Crete!
The village is called Olympos. Coincidentally the same name as the mountain of the gods in Thessalia.Love from Greece💗

P.s: I suppose you didn't have the time to go to " Olympos" a village and a former self-governing community of Karpathos, its really beautiful up there.
No I didn't make it up there. I wanted to because it looked really cool, but I realized it was a little too far out of the way at the time.

I'd love to visit Greece when it's cooler and less touristy. It was a September when Was there and they were having a late heatwave but still I loved it. Didn't go to Karpathos but it looks so inviting here in your video. Yes, that blue water is just awesome. I liked the cave and the ruins.
First days of October is the best time to visit, less heat,less tourists low prices. Believe me I am Greek 😉
Go to Greece in may or october. And not only that..... Greece is not just 10 famous islands. Greece is 6000 islands and an incredible mainland. So visiting Greece with not so many tourists is very simple.
I'm going in March. I know there won't be crowds, hopefully the weather is decent!

If I had to pick just one country then Greece might be it. Luckily I don't have to limit myself to one. Just depends on what I'm in the mood for.

14:30 fantastic views! I like to be in those hills/moutains on the greek islands. Gives some good change to the ever dry landscape down at sea level.

I haven't been to Karpathos, but as I hear the most beautiful traditional village on this island is Olympos.
I happened to read ur interview somewhere on how u turned travelling into a dedicated vlogging to generate income...its a good one that shows that it takes quite some effort and dedication...not like how people would ted to think that you travel so much and just how do you manage to do so, when other people being in full time jobs cant..its fun but does have an element of risk

I tried to find some specific info but not much to be found. I think the area was active for quite a while several thousand years ago.

Good question but hard to say with so many islands to choose from. It just depends on what you're looking for and practical factors like how long you have to travel. If it's a shorter trip you might want to choose somewhere closer to Athens. You could consider Paros and Naxos.
Beautiful island. FYI, Greeks often used the word temple (naos) loosely to refer to churches as well. One would think they would use the word for church (ekklesia) but they typically do not.

Dear Gabriel, how much time do you plan to spent in Crete? It's a huge island (5th in size in Mediterranean Sea), if you want to see the most of it you must rent a car and spent at least a month! Take care and have many great adventures! 👍

Not sure, but certainly it isn't thousands of years old. Maybe it was touched up sometime in the last few hundred years. Unfortunately there was no info about this site there and it was hard to find much of anything about it online.

Hi Gabriel! I guess you are heading to Crete next. If you stay in Heraclioum, since Chania is far away, try to visit at least Rethimno port which is also very beautiful. I would also recommend heading to southern Crete coastline. MATALA, for example, is a beach where hippies used to live during the 70s'.
I was also thinking about your next destination that you mentioned in your previous video. Crete has a good connectivity with Cyprus. Maybe you should go there next. I have heard that Lemesos and Paphos are beautiful cities and Cyprus reminds Greece as people speak the same language and have common roots. But I think that Nicosia especially is a very interesting and unique destination for making videos Its the only capital divided in two parts today after Turkish Attilas operation. In one part live the Greek-Cypriots and in the other the Turkish-Cypriots. One city two different cultures divided for almost half a century. Its only the last decade that people can pass the borders but the differences in culture and habits remain and you could capture this in your videos.
I'm planning to go to Matala, looks really cool. I was in Cyprus earlier this year. Didn't make it to Nicosia but made a few videos there: ua-cam.com/video/jBwo4NlbjP8/v-deo.html I want to go back to see Nicosia and also northern Cyprus.

Hey Gabe, do you need to apply for International Driving license to get a rental car!
Yeah exactly. I got pulled over by the police at the end of this day and they weren't happy with my Oregon driver's license. They let me off without a ticket but it was a close call. I'll be making a video about that.
Gabriel Traveler uh oh. It may be as simple as going to AAA. Thats what we did for Spain. I think it was $8. The rental company does not ask.

What island has had the best Greek food so far?
It's more a matter of specific restaurants vs. islands it seems. The restaurant that Viktor and I kept going to on Symi was amazing and I found one here on Karpathos that was mind-blowing. I had their moussaka and spaghetti bolognese, both of which were some of the best food I've ever had. Never knew spaghetti could be that good!

That was the original plan, but plans changed. Now it's getting a bit cool at night to be camping.

julieann522 I'ts no winter yet. Goats don't need a home to be fine. Quite the opposite in fact. The vegetation being scare, it's a necessity to let the goats walk freely to find enough food. And there is not a lot of thieves or predators on Karpathos I guess.
