Yes and no. The area around the island is windy. I am pretty sure the eastcoast is less windy, and you have so many secluded beaches hidden between mountains, which shields you from the wind. So even if it is windy, you can easily hide from it on Karpathos.

I went to karpathos last year and I am going this year 4 weeks
Io ci sono stato nel 2004/2005/2015/2022 e probabilmente ci tornerò anche quest'anno! Ho visitato 17 isole greche...difficile fare una classifica, ma rimane tra le mie preferite! Come Naxos, Milos, Ikaria, Skopelos ecc😊
Thank you! Beautiful video! Is it possible to explore the island by public bus or do we need to hire a car? Is the island reachable by plane or ferry? What other islands connect by ferry or plane?
You are very welcome. Yes to all. I always prefer to rent a car. If you prefer busses you should stay in Pigadia, it's well connected. Ferry goes through Crete or Rhodes. I don't know about flight connections, probably mostly package tours from north/western Europe and Athens.
There is an airport on the Island with flights to Athens as well as to international destinations.
