    The RevivalDrive Compact follows in the footsteps of its older sibling, offering a masterfully built pedal that gets back to whats important, real amp-style overdrive. Starting with classic amp topology, the Origin Effects have painstakingly replicated each analog stage of an amplifier. The class-A preamp and amp-style gain staging provide accurate dynamics, feel and breakup. While a variable negative feedback control in the output stage, lets you refine the compression and feel to sound like a plethora of classic amps from the 50s and 60s. Plus, High and Low EQ, a clean blend for multi-layered guitar tones and post EQ give this compact pedal the ability to match to your rig, whether you play UK or American voiced amps or straight into a cab sim, there’s an adjustable selection just for you. Like all Origin Effects, the RevivalDrive Compact is made with great attention to detail with high quality components and is designed and built in England.

    The dry blend feature on this is great. I use this on a moderately broken up amp and I love it. It really feels like an amp. It is one of those pedals that can be as easy, or complex to use as you want it to be. There isn't a bad sound. Just plugging it in out of the box, it sounds like the best overdrive you've ever heard. If you just mess around with eq a little, it gets even more unbelievable. Totally worth the hefty price. It really is a cut above just about anything else out there. Great demo!

      I was thinking about getting this or the Strymon Iridium. I havent messed with any IR type gear so I was leaning toward this pedal.
      I have the "Strymon Sunset" and the "Boss OD-200" but it seems like this could be better than them?

    • @johnpalmer1005
      @johnpalmer1005 4 роки тому +4

      The strymon stuff is great and you can't go wrong with either. I use the Deco, Flint, El capistan, and the Lex rotary. I like the origin effects compact deluxe because I like the feel a little better. Again, they are both fantastic and my favorite pedal makers right now.
      My primary use for this gear is live performance. From what I have read, the Strymon Iridium seems to have a little more features as an IR, where as if you were going to use it more like a preamp the Origin Effects might be a little better. The origin effects is very "amp-like" and natural. Both companies are great though. There really is a noticable difference in sound quality with companies like origin and strymon vs. most everything else. They really are worth the price. If you can be a little patient, you can typically find pretty good prices used for these. I didn't pay anything close to retail for this gear. Good luck and I think you would really love either.

      I absolutely adore mine. I use mine with my fender ML set to the broken up fender super reverb(I know, using a fender amp with a pedal emulating a cranked fender) setting and its unbelievable. The pedal sounds huge and open, and it also feels and sounds like a properly cranked amplifier. The ML is incredibly loud(as is an actual fender super reverb) and this allows me to get the tone AND FEEL I want + more without having to tear other buildings down in the process.

    Had my eye on these Origin Effects pedals and this just really hit the nail on the head. A real eye (or Ear) opener for some Big Boy Tone.Excellent Demo. A lot more to tone than cranking a super high gain amp and wailing, which is cool. Even tuned down Guitars going through a Classic amp that is semi high gain but pushed to slight break up sounds great. The pedal delivers even if my comment made no sense. Beautiful tone. Those are tones that are worthy of Wax.

    I've seen several complaints about the price of this device. If you consider that it can replace the effort required to maintain and tame a cranked non-master volume amp in addition to the cost of an attenuator/load box, it would appear to be a bargain. After several years I'm still trying to figure out what he's going when he looks like he's using a pick. Is it the nail on his thumb or index finger? Id ended up ripping my nail off.
    I just bought one of these used online, it's not even here yet and I'm already questioning the wisdom. Honestly I was really looking for a clean preamp tone with some drive, more than drive that I could clean up.
    I should have just ordered the Ethos clean II like I planned, but I needed something I could use before the middle of the summer. I put a low-ball offer in, then instantly regretted it but figured I'd be fine because there's no way they'd let it go for that… imagine my surprise. Everyone I've talked to told me I made the right decision, but I'll have to see. I guess there's something to be said for low expectations though. I wish it had a couple controls that the larger one had, but a second channel just for a different rectifier seemed too close to redundant to me.
