Well said once again Chandler, "value" is the nostalgia 100% nothing else, I have all my childhood (Palitoy) figures and to me they are priceless despite not all being mint etc. Grading is way way too expensive, Id rather spend the $ on more figures. Cheers :):)

I actually have have quite a bit of graded, but it's the Carded I prefer graded, the reason behind this is because the carded have never been loved. Plus I love the art on the cards.
As for loose graded, I'm not keen on it all, they've been free, loved. And then put back in a case.
But I would never give them grader companies my money, because that's all they are doing it for, the money. I have NEVER sent anything off to graders. I have always bought them on the second market or actually exchanged them for some of my Stan Solo haha.
I completely understand your views bro and your collection is top drawer.
Stan has full set of loose and we play with them regularly together. You really can't beat touching the old vintage figures.

The grading thing is a scam in my opinion. No thanks. I'll keep my money. MOC are nice to have protected though. I put mine in cases w/o grading them. Save the money and still save my cardback. I hear you, bro.
Nothing beats playing with og Kenner. Or your SS figures for that matter ;)

Funny you should uploud this video now. Just recently I got a vintage Tie fighter pilot figure from a guy who explained he has the entire Kenner collection of figures, infact he has doubles of every single loose figure. And he is selling the ones that are in less good condition. Meanwhile sends away the mint ones for AFA grading. When I asked why he would do that, he explained he had most of these figures from childhood. He had the opportunity to play with them, touch them, feel them for his entire life. And said he wants to take his collecting to a whole new level by encasing them in these acrylic boxes. Stating to him these figures are no longer toys, but rather artifacts, and he wants his house to look like a professional toy museum.
I learned an entirely new aspect of collecting I never really new about. It’s fascinating. And interesting. Although personally I like to play around with mine. Or at the very least display them actually standing next to eachother in scenes. But I have respect for this type of collecting as well all the same.

Just re-watched the whole video because I started late. I really appreciate them, even if they are short sometimes. I only have two hobbies - collecting vintage Star Wars and Triathlons. Your videos are a great collector’s perspective and for the pure joy of it, not because of the monetary value. I personally don’t care about the value. I do like to have them as clean and as mint as possible, but I’ll never sell. Thanks again!

I'm with you 100%, I have tons of Loose, MOC and MIB items which grade worthy many item 80+ condition, I actually will never buy graded stuff, paying almost twice when I can get a equally nice one for half the price, when I see very common loose toys graded to me its just rediculous, like a loose cloud car, dewback ect...

I’m not huge on grading but some of my rarer figures are graded and my blue snag is and like it’s a fragile figure so it’s extra protection but I put my carded figures in acrylic. I haven’t sent any figures in to get graded just have gotten some over the years. But grading with figures is the same as cards once graded if high it’s more

I like having both, a loose set and a loose graded set. As time goes on and other people besides the collectors start selling collections, there will be a lot of reproductions caught-up in the soup, unknowingly and knowingly. Add to that the Retro Collection accessories coming genuinely from Hasbro factories and the line is getting thinner and thinner. Getting items graded is a great way to display them and the perfect way to create family heirlooms. Obviously, work on a loose set first; then go graded

I think grading is ridiculous. It absolutely ruined the hobby. Ebay is flooded with over priced graded figures. Scalpers scooped these carded figures up, entombed them and then held them hostage from collectors who just wanted some childhood nostalgia. Plus, these figures and packages continue to age even in the acrylic. Collecting nostalgia is fun, not profit. My opinion. My rant. BTW, these grading companies are no more authorities than you or I. BTW your channel is great! Thank you.

I agree it's big business for scalpers they set the market with ridiculous prices but the worse are the eBay scalpers that buy all the new figures from retailers and put them on at exaggerated prices for instant profit and if you can't buy them from retailers because they are sold out you have to buy them from these parasites it kills it for genuine collectors

I have nothing against grading, but I think the whole grading craze can make the fans and collectors who actually care about it look bad.
The ones who want it graded are seemingly only in it for the money and the bragging rights.
    I'm not saying ALL.
I don't mean to cast any dispersions on anybody who does get things graded.
I think it would be interesting to see figures with play wear get graded.
    Now what? :)
I see those figures as just as good.
Those are the veterans, our heroes.
    They deserve respect also.
I don't need someone to tell me what I have is special.
I'm all for protecting and treating stuff right, but putting everything in a box you probably can't open later doesn't sound like my idea of a good time.
I live my life behind glass to begin with.
I heard the same thing, that it would take months to get your stuff back.
EFF that. Quite honestly, I don't want ANYONE touching my shit.

100% Yes. And anyone who disagrees with you is simply deluding themselves into denying that they've been scammed by auction houses who are in cahoots with grading companies. Its a full on tag team scam. GQJ is the best kind of collector out there. He looks after everything but displays it all for people to enjoy in his diorama style setups. The BEST way to display your collection.
