If it helps, I was taught to always water trees and other nursery plants at least twice, once to hydrate the soil enough to soak up more water, and the second to saturate the soil. At home, because I can take my time, I use containers slightly larger than my pots to almost entirely submerge them, let them soak for a few minutes, and then let it fully drain. That soak kind of does the same thing, but then I don't get any dry air pockets due to wonky compaction issues. Love your channel and appreciate you helping to look more into raising cacti.
I have watched this three times since summer as I slowly add to my collection and learning from you guys! This collection is KILLER!!! Well done!! Love them all. ☀️🌵
What are your thoughts on summer dormancy? It's a new concept for me, but apparently when a cactus looks shriveled in summer even though it's getting water it could be because it's entered summer dormancy, and continued heavy watering could kill it?
i like when you show these backyard greenhouses, when i watch them, i'm peepin game for my winter project. i have a decent size yard, but i'm outgrowing my ghetto 4x4 table with the 8ft umbrella over it and plants all over the ground around the table. i have 60 something seed packs under lights in the basement, so next year, the picnic table set up will be no bueno. i have a few dollars left to save so i can pick up a new prophet 10 synth and meet maude delay pedal (my other hobby lol) then its on to the greenhouse so its ready for spring. love your videos.
Amazing Hunter, I love this spontaneous approach, only your mutual appreciation and the excitement of talking about plants. I would love to talk more about the greenhouse, sowing process and so on and so forth but yeah men, amazing vibes from all your videos.
That was awesome🤲🌵💖I enjoyed watching! Yeah, that watering method makes sense to thoroughly soak the soil for the cactus to grow, but you'd have to be a bit careful deciding when the next watering is needed.
This is the most gorgeous collection and visual display I have ever seen, and I’ve been a cactus fanatic for decades. Can I ask: What is the name of the tall column gold cactus next to the spiral one called? It is on the center table.
That Valida's in a deep ass pot. I got one from the inner city show and sale that's starting to come around now and it's just kind of lying in one of those dollar tree kitchen tubs.
I have a rainbow hedgehog that has sweat marks here and there… it looks amazing. I rarely water it. When I do I soak it and dry it out. Is that a sign it needs water? I was afraid I over watered it or there was moisture in the soil not drying out. Thank you for any advise! ☀️🌵
Another heady video my man! I just subscribed to the channel. I'm relatively new to the hobby, but have become a grafting maniac. I got a boobie cactus to take on my grafting stock and I'm so stoked about it bro! Your videos are MAD bro and I can't thank you enough. Really good filmmaking too, I love the flashbacks you do. There was this one flashback you used of Arnold Schwarzenegger as Mr. Freeze and I about lost my marbles laughing dude. Choice work my man, keep it up!
At 5.20 Cactus Quest guy puts his hand on a plant that is a cluster. The one I am wondering about is the one directly behind it. It is round and white and looks like black dots are swirled on the top. Thank you for trying to help me!!
Fun watching other peoples cactus grows... thanks for documenting

I just upgraded from my ghetto setup to my first ever greenhouse - I am TOTALLY in love, it is so worth it! Do it!
Prophet synths are nice! I support you my bro!

Love it !wishing one day my collection can lock like that ! Thanks
You can do it. Good luck.
Amazing greenhouse. What is the tall cactus next to the eulychnia castanea varispiralis please?
The quest continues
Omg you all are so close!!! This collection!!! We are in Del Mar. 🌵☀️🌊⛰🏇
"Our mixes are too light" You need to treat it like hydroponics. Water every couple of days and feed all the time.

I guess Weberbauerocereus or Haageocereus.
I love these videos, thanks for sharing!

It doesn't matter if you can't pollinate a plant, you can always micropropagate it in tissue culture.
Spettacolo... Bravissimi
Davvero!
Congrats!!!! For your channel!!!!
What’s that taller bright golden yellow cactus next to the unicorn cactus in the center?

Is it nice Obregonia that we can see?
A small colector just asked if i want to take over his small colection (50or so plants) is there anything i should pay extra atention to ?

One of these days you should venture out to a more northern nursery and do a video on cold hardy cacti
This one ended too soon
Hi. Since you are a Mammillaria guy, do you have Mammillaria wrightii? I just won one at an auction and wonder if it's self sterile.
Amazing collection!! What is the name of the white one with nodules swirling around it? It is at 5:31 in the video.
You have to be more specific. In the middle i guess is mammilaria chionocephala.

@@cheryllemons3134 np. I think it is Mammillaria chionocephala.
@@budzogan Thank you!

Is the green house custom? Or where did you get it from?
I was the 666th to like this video haha
