A worthy effort man. Don't ever sell it. And don't ever regret how much time and effort you have in it. It has a new soul and a new life now and I hope you always enjoy it.
Looks Pretty Damn Good... And the only thing that you didn't have to take apart was the Maple Cap from the body back.... Pretty much Everything else is rebuilt. All In All. Great job Derrick
I think you may have wondered HOW Gibson let that one out the door; the answer is that it may have had help(grown legs and left on it's own, of course, and snuck past the powerful Gibson Quality-control folks). Not to worry, though - once your magic hands got a-holt of it, you got the "six-million dollar" guitar, ("we have the technology, we can make it better, etc") and made it work. I love watching your work. Thanks for taking the time and trouble to film it and share it.
Hey, i think the original finish was fine because i dont care how a guitar looks, but more how it plays, but changing the frets is expensive and something i know nothing about. Good on you bud. Thanks, tony.
Great video and huge respect for undertaking such a massive task. It must have given you a huge amount of satisfaction when done. The guitar looks and sounds superb and those blemishes you highlighted just give the guitar character. Wish I had the skills to produce a work of art like that - congrats from snowy UK 🙌👏🤘👍😎
Awesome resto mate. That was a serious effort to revive that beastie. I noticed you are like the third person I have seen using those angelus dyes on a guitar. In all cases I was impressed with the color ranges and how they blend. That brown however has been just plain brutal in every case. Its like that needs to be thinned down over 60% or more. For leather I am sure that works awesome for wood its just too... ugh
This reminds me of the unfinished Les Paul Custom husk I bought very cheap as an 80s teenager here in NZ. The music shop owner who was the Gibson dealer gave it a once over, put on his best poker face, and offered me about 5x what I paid. I'll never know who got the best end of that deal. I got some new pedals though. Not long before that I sold another music shop a guitar. The first guitar I bought with my own money when I was 16. A 1955 Gibson SJ acoustic. I walked out with a Cort electric, some Boss pedals and a beginner's solid state amp. I thought I had done well getting all that stuff for that old guitar. Kids thought newer was better in those days, e.g., my friend trading his JMP 2203 in for a JCM 900 Dual Reverb (i still remind him how duh that was, but I can't talk really).
I've successfully straightened a positively bowed neck by removing the truss rod nut then forcing the neck in the opposite direction to the bow and carefully heating up the fingerboard with a heat gun. A lot easier than removing the fingerboard.
Even at high speed, this is a *huge* amount of work, but done well. The Music. Fantastic. I am only 1/2 way through the stripping... Oo oo oo Fret nibs done right with a refret. Binding. The color looks darker than a whiskey/tobacco, and with the flame, the color is teriffic. (your b string got out of tune) Its georgous with all the period specific stuff. When you going to tell us about the pickup rewinding?
How much would you charge for a job nearly identical to this minus the neck and fretboard removal, but on a schecter c shape? No parts assembly or taking apart. Just the wood work. Same colors, and rebinding and satin finish instead of gloss.
Nice video man. Currently sanding mine have you ever ran into the original color staining the veneer? I’m sanding away can’t seem to get it out and I don’t wanna burn through the veneer any tips would be appreciated!
I think it looks fantastic but I'll agree about the pickups. Those zebra bobbins are a distraction from the work you did. (I) would have done the classic chrome covers.
You did one hell of a job restoring that guitar. But I wonder what that does to the guitars value? It came out beautiful but because it's not original would that drop the value?
I'm no expert, but I'm rather sure documenting the repairs and restoration not only helped retain the value of the guitar but also probably increase its saleability value much like the Custom shop LP guitars. It's a tad dark but I'm sure many like that effect, the good thing with individual taste is, it ensures someone out there would really love to own it.
Question: I'm seeing the addition of carbon fiber rods on alot of new guitars' necks to improve stability and rigidity. . Is there any reason you didn't add that to this restore since you had the fretboard off? They are only like $20
Ok, so I’m 5:30 in but basically you are having to demonstrate to Gibson how to make a proper guitar. I’ve built one from a kit but nothing nearly this extensive!
What makes a Gibson a Gibson? After watching this, only the headstock. Get this man a quality kit and you’ll have yourself a Gibson level quality guitar.
maybe a little off topic, but... that first blues jam, was that you playing? it was like, 12 min long, and had a shit ton of cool licks in it. very tasty, either way. the guitar turned out real nice, it sure looked like a lot of work.
Uploaded with better music! Enjoy this epic rebuild! Here are the full vids ua-cam.com/play/PLvHM0_cyyFLwP6igEkypLUJTOnzgxFvuK.html

Very well said sir...
Great to watch. It answered a lot of questions om how guitars are made. The finished product is beautiful. Don't ever sell it.
Dude... you're an artist! It came out beautiful... congrats.
Insane level of craftsmanship. You are really dedicated or crazy, or both. Great job.
Like he should just walk into the Gibson factory, and start work.
I’m always amazed by the effort put into fret nibs. We’ll done.
Awesome job, she became an absolute beauty, looks many classes better than before! 👍👍👍
what an excellent rebuild. i also was at the end of my chair when you were removing that neck.
These kind of rescue/rebuild videos are like romance movies for me - I get all choked up :)
Excellent job on the rebuild and finishing. The LP looks stunning. I would would trade my Gold top for it
Might just be the most beautiful Les Paul I've ever seen...
And i used to own a 25/50 model.
Beautiful! Turned out great.
Good to see i'm not the only one messing up the Gibson toggle switch wiring.
Looks Pretty Damn Good... And the only thing that you didn't have to take apart was the Maple Cap from the body back.... Pretty much Everything else is rebuilt. All In All. Great job Derrick
I remember watching this. No, it's not too dark. You have nailed the colors. The fade looks amazing.
I really love the time lapse! This was a super video. Nice guitar, BTW. :)

Wow, another LP lives to tell the tale. Fantastic job, resurrection a plus. After all this, hoping you'll keep her.
Szia. a nyak kivét szuper , ügyes....... üdv Magyarórszágból🎸
SO much work went into this. Very cool video, I was commenting out loud to each part without noticing I was doing it, nice work.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Wow! That is such a gorgeous guitar. Bravo! Very well done!!!
Oh my god! That was a great work! Awesome! You really make a great job!
You have done an amazing job be proud of the word you did to fully restore it 👍🏻👏🏻
The color is absolutely beautiful.
The colour is awesome! It's like a more fuller Bourbon burst!
That came out really good. Night and day difference. Well done!
I saw this when it first came out. Amazing. I would add the pick up covers back on, it will off the beautiful colour more
Night and day man. You did an amazing job!!
I remember this, and enjoyed watching the restoration process.
That top looks far better than it
Did when you started!!
Very nice😎
The end product looks absolutely amazing! I would definitely say it's worth the effort :)
Nice. All that work and it turned out beautiful. Good work man. 👌
Well done!
What a massive job you had to go through to restore that guitar that came out really nice. You’re an artist.
Thank you very much!
Amazing work. Love watching you do it.
Nice job. This was a cool watch and the guitar is worlds better post refinish.
I remember that one. Sick transformation.
Historic makeover smokes on the sidelines
Прекрасна робота👍👍👍
What a wonderful job and fantastic video, well done, super talented .

Beautiful looking guitar mate....you done a magnificent job👍🏻
Great video. Awesome work. Sad to see so many flaws in the original build quality

Great work! I always complain about Les Paul quality to my friends. Gibson is not what it used to be.

It's really nice! Love the darker stain!
2:04 what's written there?
LP (Les Paul) what?
I've successfully straightened a positively bowed neck by removing the truss rod nut then forcing the neck in the opposite direction to the bow and carefully heating up the fingerboard with a heat gun. A lot easier than removing the fingerboard.
Really enjoyed this one Derek.
Is that Mike Bloomfield for the music? If not someone did a great job of channeling that one! Superb work!
Fantastic end result!
Love your work, also watched the gold top, just phenomenal!
It sure looks a lot better after your restoration work than it did before.
Outstanding craftsmanship! 👍🏻
Absolutely cracking job!! Love it!
beautiful
Beautiful piece!
Now that looks really good
great work, fantastic result
brilliant wish i had this tallent well done sir
Beautiful work, nicely done.
Great Job. Fun video. Nibs, yea!

Amazing work.
Well done job. Fantastic
How did so much of it get so torn up? Did the previous owner try to add and or re-bind it or something?
How much would you charge for a job nearly identical to this minus the neck and fretboard removal, but on a schecter c shape? No parts assembly or taking apart. Just the wood work. Same colors, and rebinding and satin finish instead of gloss.

Great work ! Thank you
NICE JOB

Thanks for the visit
"the wood should not be like this".
Bro, it's a Gibson. Really nice redo.
haha. thank you!
Now I understand why a custom shop costs a kidney😂. Congrats. You’re great 👏🏽👏🏽
BIGD: "Guitars shouldn't be sold with cracks in the wood"
Mark Agnesi: Legacy man. People will pay big bucks for the name. Junk or not.

Was great 😊
Amazing!
Where do you live, if i have a guitar that needs TLC how can i get it to you ?
Ok, so I’m 5:30 in but basically you are having to demonstrate to Gibson how to make a proper guitar. I’ve built one from a kit but nothing nearly this extensive!
Is this a re-upload?
Saw this a couple years back. Is this an old repost?
You'll get one score after the life cause saving her. Great job. The color gave +500 to a price. The fretwork was not for lazy people with no doubt.
