While I feel like Dilo can still use some changes, to me, it's still a direct improvement over Legacy Dilo in all aspects. Legacy's Dilo was way too much like a Raptor that couldn't jump with virtually the same health and weight. In Evrima, it feels more like how Dilo should feel, i.e. still on the smaller side of carnivores, but much bigger and more imposing than a Raptor. It can take a hit or two without imploding like the old one did, and it feels and sounds heavy. I also like the decision of making it faster but less agile than the Raptor. It adds to it feeling unique and different from Omni, on top of being a smart balancing decision that avoids the issue of Dilo getting ran down and mauled by them, while the Raptors can still out-maneuver and get away if chased. I still feel like it can use something more in its kit. I've always liked that one idea of making it so Dilo can only get extra clone stacks if it bites its target again. It would force it to be more active in hunts, rather than just stepping back, pulling out a gun and shooting you until you're dead.
That's got to be one of the most satisfying dilo moments I've ever seen.. Steal a meal from a carno that tried to kill you previously, and send venom clones at him to distract him while you eat in peace.

I disagree about dilo venom. Go get bitten by a black widow or a rattlesnake and just because you can fight off the hallucinations doesn’t mean you’re not affected by the venom. You’re still affected by venom. The hallucinations are just a creative way to express that without it just being a DoT. Your mistake was being bitten enough times to get to that point. Then allowed them to maintain the venom. And baby venomous creatures are even more dangerous because they can’t control how much venom they inject. I’ve always thought for gameplay purposes dilos should get venom minute one. But to be fair, it only affects targets at your current growth stage or smaller.
It's actually been proven that baby venomous creature's (Snakes etc) Can control their venom, and getting bit by a baby is safer than getting bit by an adult Because they have lower amounts of venom. And Dilo getting venom in the first minute of gameplay I mean, that's fair yeah. But on a balancing standpoint? 🤷♂
I just think it's overpowered honestly. Damage over time is a fine idea for venom instead, but is a bit bland overall for the gameplay the devs want for dilo. I like the hallucinations, but I do still think they'd be better suited as a low damage, high distraction thing rather than the main damage output
@@wolfiitachii2947 yeah which is why I said have it only affect animals of the same growth stage or lower. Completely unrealistic but it balances the gameplay out
I've always believed that independent of what the devs say, the design behind shadow clone bites dealing real damage is either the result of incompetent programming that they decided to pretend was intentional, or Emperor Dondi making a royal decree that it should be so. Nipping someone in the hind twice then flinging clones at them for the next 10 minutes until they slump over is pretty lazy gameplay. Something like a carno/utah/pachy player must put his animal at risk in order to attack, whereas after 2, sometimes 3, dilo bites the dilo no longer needs to risk itself due to how long the venom lasts. In an alternate reality, where the dilo's hallucinations deal no damage, they are instead a tool that helps dilos make their hit-and-run bite bite attacks, rather than eliminating the need for them. Were this to ever be changed (it won't be) dilo would need something else to compensate for the drop in power, probably better agility/bleed? Let's not forget that crippling the envenomated target's view distance is a huge danger to them, as it makes them very vulnerable to sudden ambushes from a 3rd party even if they were to escape. As for juvi dilos having venom, they did launch with that iirc, and it was removed because it was absurd. A 3-inch tall ankle-biter sending you to the shadow realm with just 2 bites for the next 10 minutes was pretty BS

I agree with the first part. If they were used as distractions to wear the target down and create openings, then that would be ideal. The speed wouldn't then be as much of a problem because the actual dilo would still have to make itself vulnerable to do damage
Been playing alot of cerato lately and hearing dilo calls at night feels like it did in legacy; dreadful. Knowing that they could envenomate you in one bite is scary; if his clones worked properly around water or slopes, or just had some other way with dealing with that (like damage over time or you loose more blood while envenomated). I just heard the devs re-implemented the clones attacking when nearby since there were sitll bugs with them not spawning near edges and what not. I really hope they continue with making aerial and aquatic hallucinations or reworking the purpose of the venom to encourage more fake-outs to allow you to get bites in through confusion rather than relying on outright damage to the target. I get the point of needing something to pressure the target(in this case, damage), but I definitely think it's strayed from the purpose of hallucinations by doing it this way. It stings all the more they gave the fog to Troodon so Dilo doesn't feel as unique atm. Also meant to ask, what mutations did you go with? :O
I agree. I really just wish the dilo could see its own clones, they do minimal damage if any, and work best to encourage the target to waste stamina and create openings for the real dilo to attack

That's fair, now they've become something truly heinous at night. Kill it quick, or you're trapped in a waking nightmare where you can't quite catch the thing making you lose hp
@dinometta ye and personally I prefer the new dilo, simply because it is.much more unique than the other one. I generally like the new direction the devs are heading with dinos and mechanics, i just hope they dont screw it up now...but its muchbbetter than just adjusting bleed and biteforce ^^
Dilo hitboxes are trash i died 5 seconds ago because i couldnt get a freaking cera to violet. This game hitboxes are broken and of course i was hiding in bush and somehow cera found me! I love the isle so much
@@demon2829 Dilo has an incredibly tiny bite hitbox. Drives me nuts. You have to be stupid precise with your bite timing
@@dinomettacera and omni are the same lol I hate it too. Especially when you’re used to PoT hitboxes
@@dtbrex08Carno meanwhile has a bite hitbox the size of a nuke
I wish they would make adult Dilos around the size of the adult fossils(23 ft), but it’s kinda hard to tell size from video, but adult cero, dilo, and herra should all be around the same length
@@DarkerStorm99 in that case, herra is the odd one out. Dilo is currently about as tall as carno, but herra is pretty tiny
A lot of people underestimate the Dillo, that`s the last thing they do :)
@@GameWithTonyYT That's the truth! Man I got bit by one as a pachy yesterday and you can bet I was booking it to the water! I was already hurt from fighting an aggro teno and then being jumped by a herra! I wasn't going to risk the clones too!
nice vid metta, all the fights were entertaining in true dilo fashion
Thanks!
i took out a pack of 5 raptors as 1 dilo just outside south plains on a cliff by the semi fair drinking spot for dinos. but i absolutely destroyed them
@@DracoFGC heck yeah! A beast!
wake up babe new metta upload just dropped
Yay!
I didn’t play during Halloween:(
yay a new video! i was just rewatching older ones :D
Hope you enjoyed it!
So thats what happened to me in the isle. I logged on one day to and my dinosaur was just sick, lost my dibble that way cause I couldn't get to water fast enough.
@@cthulhupolar60 oh, that was probably the diet update. It forced all previous patch grown dinos to vomit so their diets would reset. Incredibly unfortunate for those who were far from water sources when they'd last logged out. I nearly lost my teno to that

You make me wanna try playing the dilo again.

7:38 Dilos nv is normally perfect but with the hordetest they done something to nv for all species its way way too bright, hope they fix it.
It was always inconsistent since they introduced it but rn the HT build is like nuclear explosion in your face, even for dinos with bad NV :D I have noticed that some textures are triggering autoexposure and the values are not capped or something.
Yeah it's absolutely blinding right now
@@Bleghspread Yea in hordetest its very bad currently, i hope to god they are aware of it. Honestly yes its inconsistent in live build but its absolutely far better than what we have ever had in terms of nv and i think it should stay how it is on live build currently.
The Devs are making the weather and night dark for the NV, Dondi showed it on his stream
@@alexburke1310
Nah fr. When I first got on evirma (live branch) after a few months, my jaw dropped to the floor seeing the new nv. I CAN ACTUALLY SEE (mostly). And it doesnt just look like a godawful grainy camera filter is being layered over it. Really love the light outlines on everything too. They could stand to be a little bit clearer (often seems faded) and brighter, but other than that it works well and has a nice feel.
I really gave up hope for nv before this.
Just beat 2 ceratos with a pack of 3 pachys. We lost one but boy was it satisfying!
Oh I bet!!
i'm loving the more frequent uploads, ho boy...
I'm trying to maintain a weekly schedule as long as there's content to record!
@@dinometta i think after this video, you convince me to jump off the trees and trying dilo for the first time. finger cross, i'm gona need it.
WHAT, you can kill almost anything with 2-3 bites bc of venom?? That is OP.
@@Gustangela It takes more than that for most things. Those initial bites to envenomate them to start, but then it has to be reapplied about every 2-3 minutes. Still pretty OP against anything up to teno size though, absolutely. Much bigger and it gets significantly harder to not die before your prey when you go back for reapplication.
Either way, I'd much rather see the clones used as distractions instead of damage-dealers imo. Make the dilo still have to do the majority of the damage instead of its little minions
My daughter and I got the game but aren't even sure were to begin. Would you consider making a tutorial video on how to play? Things like controls, diet, infected, etc?
I have considered doing so, but it'll probably be a project a bit later down the line! For now, a good place to read up on some of the basics is on the evrima quick guide linked in the video description! Kouga is also a great creator who does some tutorials and basic info videos!
@@dinometta We'll check out Kouga, thanks for the advice! We tried as pachys, and it didn't go so well. Don't mind losing a bunch, but we didn't even know were to begin.
So glad dilos no longer get bodied by utahs.
Yeah, one bite to envenomate and then they're basically screwed
Didnt Sun Zu say something like appear Strong when you are weak and weak when you are strong? Like that is just the case of that one Carno
@@emil8025 probably so!
i'm sorry 2:00 THE INFECTED!? TF ARE THOSE!

Wooooowww amazing double dibble kill!!! I’m growing a dilo right now haha
That was a fun little fight! Poor guys, I felt bad killing both, but they fed me for a long time
I have never seen that little tunnel before
@@JustFun-tv5er highly recommended, I've used it many times to escape larger creatures and to hide and heal
Dilo halluconations shouldnt do damage and dilo is way too fast
I agree with the first part. If they were used as distractions to wear the target down and create openings, then that would be ideal.
The speed wouldn't then be as much of a problem because the actual dilo would still have to make itself vulnerable to do damage
I’m really happy right now that dilo has good venom
And it’s just great right now and that makes me happy I just love dilo
Me too. I missed dilo so much. He's the grunkliest boy and I love him
I dont know how I feel about the dilo venom. It seems a bit passive and slightly too strong. Just get in the venom and sit back, sorta
@@felldin it's definitely too strong, and absolutely too passive imo
Glad to see another dilophosarus
@@Sornadilophosarus hello fellow dilophosaurus, how do you do this fine evening
@@dinomettaI’m doing good how about you
@Sornadilophosarus quite well, quite well indeed
Yess a dilo vibe
Heck yeah!
I think dilo would be in a really good spot.
@@mustartd4819 I think the only place they didn't work in the current horde test is around water. Dilo is a nasty dude right now! Incredibly dangerous, especially for cerato
@@dinometta I didn't know they worked around slopes, but that's good to know, thanks.
22:52 What is the infection? ._. I am watching a lot of Isle vids before I get the chance to play it, and the zombie thing is something new ive seen.
@@Dirtthe_deinonychus It was an event for Halloween! I think some unofficial servers may activate it here and there, but it's not currently present on the official servers anymore
@ ah sounds actually really cool!
I feel like dilo could definitely use an agility update a slide would make it a lot better to play
This and improving its venom (and troodon’s) a little more so it’s more fun to play both with and against while also not being op, this version is kinda too strong as you just stand back and right click after they’re envenomated.
I agree, as long as venom is changed a bit as dbrex mentioned
wait... were there eggs in that one cerato at the end??
There were! Gestation is now a thing in preparation for nesting! Those gestated eggs are edible if the mother is killed and opened up before they're laid, or if they're stolen from the nest after being laid
Nice play! How do you send hallucination copies?
@@o-ruff1483 bite the target until they turn purple when you sniff, then the button to send them is one of your alternate attacks. I don't know which one specifically as my keybinds are not default, but it'll be one of the two that aren't your normal bite and your directional bite
@@dinometta oh thank you! Keep up the good work!
so what does the dilo venom do now? that cerato was too unfased with the cackles
Still the same thing. Finish the video. It actually works now. Cera was just ignoring them.
He was just ignoring the clones. I think he just didn't realize how dangerous they could be if he left me to my devices
I was running photosynthetic tissue, gastro, and whatever the less damage from bigger animals one is
The Green cera in south plains, was me lol GG! Enjoyed the fight!
GG!! One more bite and I was dead!
@dinometta So close xD Those hallucinations do a number on their victim
Sometimes you are scary. The Dilo definitely is.
Dilo can be a living nightmare, especially as small playables like raptor and young dibble
Dilo is such a unique playable
I am growing to really like it
idk what you were wrong about, but I like Dilo so I click.
I previously said that dilo was weak and needed some pretty heavy work to be playable. But I was just malding after trying to play it immediately after the carno changes xD once things settled, I tried it again(this video) and it was much better
I don't like hunting as a solo dilo because they climb on rocks and it's kinda GG, once I get a cerato on red but I got killed bc he got on a rock and started screaming and a raptor came and target me, somehow I couldn't attack because of a bug but what I mean is that I want venom works like troodon idk, rocks and water as a counter is kinda dumb ngl
Luckily rocks don't always work anymore! It's still a bit buggy, but I've seen things on rocks still get hit!
@@dinometta maybe is already fixed idk, but what I know is that rocks give them at least a good amount of time to call for help and that's what usually got me in bad situations
@@lolero72campos19 yeah the hallucinations seem to spawn on the closest flat surface to their target. So it'll kill herras on branches, tenos on logs, and things on most rocks
How can you play in a server with zombie creatures??? Pls help
@@supermotorider2885 They have to be activated by a server admin. I don't know if any currently that are doing a zombie event though

Very interesting vid. 11:27 how to grab footprints? I just started play evrima and its damn hard for begginer. Just few video creators are informative. Ingame training is almost non existant.
If you see them, walk over the top of them until you get the prompt, then click your scent key. If you've done it successfully, they turn blue
13:45 its actually meant to do that, was in the patch notes a while ago on a horedtest
Being unable to fight the clones? Or being able to attach multiple targets? Because the first sucks, but the second is awesome
@@dinometta the first, its intentional that the clones are a guaranteed hit, thats the whole point of dilo: you envenomate and let the clones do the rest, maybe go in a couple times to refresh
@@Voided77_ oh that's an unfortunate balance change. I don't like that
22:37 Are those eggs? I've never seen that before.
Yes! That's a new feature in horde test, egg gestation before nesting, so if you kill a player that has been gestating eggs, you can pull them out of the corpse and eat them!
